    So much anxiety in this video 😅 the way he balances the plate on the edge of the sink and the way he awkwardly holds it in the air I kept thinking it’s gonna go! 🤣

    This might seem like a daft question, but wouldn’t you have been better off just eating it out of the pie dish rather than decanting it into a slightly less suitable vessel and adding extra washing up into the mix?

    • @unlokia

    "It's the middle of December" are you reaching into the archive for these videos 😂. When it comes to these pies, barely any meat, just gravy, the gravy is nice but it needs so much more meat.

    Fray Bentos pies are meant to be 50% crispy at the top 50% soggy underneath always have been u could cook it for 9 hours the inside would still be soggy.

    I had a just steak one of these a long time ago. They are decent for a quid to be honest, I mean what more can you expect at that price? Pukka pies actually have meat but I think these have better pastry and, of course, more gravy.

    What sort of animal doesn't eat out of the tin? And don't get me started on taking ages to open it by not using a normal can opener,

  • @bobbbxxx
    @bobbbxxx Před 3 lety +4

    I find a regular tin opener works just fine. I eat it from the tin; much easier and neater. Normally they puff up a lot higher than this one did. I don't know why people get so shirty about them; I'm not sure what they expect for £1. The cheese and onion one is good.

    Last couple I had were all gravy with 3 tiny scraps of meat. By this point they retailed at a measly £1. I'd rather have paid £3.50 for an original style one, packed full of delicious meat and gravy. Now they're saying "33% more meat". Great... so now you get 4 tiny scraps. BTW it was always the pastry that made these so good. You under-cooked yours. Cook it right and it rises high and tastes amazing, with flaky and moist layers

    Buy a decent opener mate, you'll be there all day opening cans. The pies used to be very popular back in the 70's and 80's, they used to put real steak and kidney in them back then, but now they are filled with a thick gooey gravy and micro meat which was pre cooked and falls to bits it is cut so small you can't tell what it is or taste what it is.

    The most useful part of a "Fray Bentos" pie, is the tin, which can be washed up and hung on the wall as a permanent reminder to *NEVER EVER EAT THIS JUNK AGAIN!* It looks like a pool of hot dog food inside damp brown paper.
