In today’s video, Travel Expert Jim Kellett meets up with his friends Craig and Charlene. Charlene is from the US and Craig is from England. They moved to the Philippines in 2019 and have been building their dream guest house featuring Eco-friendly dome-shaped rooms made with AirCrete.
We’ll tour the Native House they built and live in, Tour their completed dome available now as a rental, See the chill area and common space, and they’ll share some inside information on how they build the domes… turning their dreams into reality. And all this is close to waterfalls, coral reefs, amazing beaches, and sunsets on Siquijor Island in the Philippines.
Craig and Charlene moved here in search of a new home and with a desire to build a space for travelers. They acquired this amazing property that was once a firefly sanctuary and now they are well on their way.
They have their first dome finished, their second dome started and currently hosting some Workaway volunteers.
Craig and Charlene had a digital nomad lifestyle, backpacking around Asia often using Workaway International, before settling down in Siquijor. Now they are offering Workaway opportunities to other travelers.

I can proudly say that these are my friends and that I actually stayed in their Dome earlier this year! It's honestly incredible and comfortable. If you are ever in Siquijor, look no further!!!
Dagmara Drozdowska, Thanks for watching. Glad you had the experience of spending time in Siquijor and staying at the dome.
This is not just a dream house, it's a DOME house! Craig and Charlene have taken 'living under a rock' to the next level! Kidding aside, the dome looks amazing! It's like a giant igloo with windows, and I love it! Plus, they've got fireflies too! What more could you ask for? I think I found my next vacation spot. Who needs five-star hotels when you can have a five-billion-star experience under the dome? Cheers to Craig and Charlene for making their dome dream a reality!
caparn, Craig, and Charlene have put a lot of love into their project and it really shows. Thanks for leaving a comment.
I've said something similar before, but I'll say it again. I feel your production value is so good that you should have your own show on The Travel Channel.

Greetings from Ireland ☘️
Hello! Thank you for your nice comment. We hope to see you here in our place one day as well!
Still a lot of work to do! I know a few filipinos here who just built a house for 700 thousand euro but each of the houses worth more than a million now. They have good jobs and earn good too. Your house dome is beautiful.
What a beautiful place! 🥰 🏠
It really is!
From the entrance to every single building area, they have created perhaps one of the most chill designed places on Earth; simply amazing! And wow, I have studied dome construction (albeit many years ago), but I've never heard of the process used to create the 'aircrete' blocks...absolutely brilliant!
Very nice video, thank you.
Awesome love it all the best 🙏🏽 🌞 👍🏾 👌🏾
I love the natural design touches. The dome design should better withstand Typhoons also.🏝️🇵🇭

Want one!
Blessed Life, I want one too. Maybe I will build one in the future.
Wow
Jo Ban, Thanks for watching!
I love it all! Do they have solar panels? How are they getting their WIF? How are they getting their water system to they have to drink/washing/showers/toilets?
Interesting show. I was thinking how you could build a structure in the Phils that would hold up to the occasional high winds and typhoon 🌀. A dome house or round house instead of square is the solution. I'm interested to know how much they spent on making the dome homes and if they could be built on pillars if building near a shore for flooding? Thank you for the video and do you have a link to the dome on Airbnb?
How did you make the aircrete, I’m getting ready to build a dome house in Pangasinan, not sure if I can make aircrete or might have to use cinder blocks.
We made the aircrete ourselves. It was a bit tricky and very finicky, but we finally figured out a system that worked well for us
Hello I am moving to the Philippines and want to build a dome like you guys have.........can I contact you?
How can i participate in having a eatthdime assel as build 1?
How do u get food from store
Love it...ACCEPT the bathroom...um no

Edgar Enova, Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment.
Are these guys permenant residents or citizens? Is it hard to get that as a forgeiner?
Did they get permits to build?
Yes.
Yes, all our buildings have building permits.
building on leased land, not the smartest long term plan
Building codes? We don't need no stinking codes! Structural steel? We don't need no structure! We'll build with air. All the strength of Cheetos puffs!
Well, you don’t actually need structural steel for aircrete domes. The finished domes are actually super sturdy, earthquake and hurricane resistant (don’t remember the hurricane level, but pretty good) and fire resistant. So if i read this well, it’s better to educate yourself before being smirky… and they say the have the buildings approved.
