Amboli Dam and Waterfall are located in Amboli village in the Murud Taluka of Raigad district, Maharashtra. It is an integral part of the Konkan region. Both of these places are situated very close to Murud.At an altitude of 690 m it is the last hill station before the coastal highlands of Goa and a relatively unexplored one. Amboli lies in the Sahayadri Hills of Western India, one of the world's "Eco Hot-Spots" and it therefore abounds in a variety of fairly unique flora and fauna. Historically, Amboli village came into being as one of the staging posts along the road from Vengurla port to the city of Belgaum, which was extensively used by the British to supply their garrisons in south and central India.Amboli Dam (Local people also called as Khar Amboli Dam) Though small, this beautiful dam is considered to be one of the best tourist spots in and around Murud. Apart from serving the drinking needs of villages nearby, the place also offers excellent scenic locations that cannot be found elsewhere. A perfect place to celebrate picnic, Amboli Dam is always filled with visitors, especially those who love nature and outdoor swimming.
