- You rarely get a completely perfect background for your bird and wildlife shots. I show you how to clean things up in just a few minutes using Photoshop.
Gear I used to get this shot:
Nikon D850 (main camera): amzn.to/2IfoZPs
Nikon 500mm f/5.6E PF lens: amzn.to/2WyblJe

Very clear and well explained, at a good speed. I look forward to more of your instructional videos, thanks
thank you Rob for this calm and instructive tutorial. I relly like your way of presenting what you are doing in the field and in your "office". And your very beautiful pictures. My self don`t have the equipment or photogear to manage what you do, but i enjoy beeing in the nature to take pictures. Thank you for inspirering me.
Cheers Rob. A tutorial at a pace I can understand.
Thanks again Rob to a great video tutorial of fixing backgrounds for cleaner shots.
Great, I think I should start doing more background fixing as it really improves on making the bird take centre stage. Thanks for that, very informative.
rob , really likes this video , it was short and very clear , I was just looking for clean background for my pictures ,thanks mate
Thank you Rob... I would like to see more of these kind of photo editing video in future
Very very very helpful tutorial! Thank you so much for sharing!
Hi Rob. Well done, great video and great photography. One tip I like to use is when you have just the background layer after the content aware fill i like to add a Blur>Average just to blend any sharp edges. I liked and subscribed. Your video popped up in my recommended most likely because I have been searching bird photography. I’ll check out your blogs. Have a good day
Very nice job, I need this skill very much, thank you. Beautiful!
Really enjoyed your video, Rob! I had to subscribe. Thank you for your great work.
Awesome video! Thank you for this technique!
Excellent tutorial! Thank you
Excellent and very informative and helpful. Thank you.
Great tutorial. This is exactly what I was trying to solve with an almost identical situation with a bird photograph
At last someone who talks at a slower speed so I can actually see how it is done. Thank you!
Hi Rob,great would go deeper into background adjustment.Your tutorial is amazing.
Great stuff. Thanks very much.
This is great, thank you for sharing
Content Aware, brilliant, fabulous shot as well.
Amazing Video! Thanks for sharing
If you have any weird "pinching" left by the content aware fill - select the PATCH TOOL, draw around the area, drag to the side, easy.
Nice tutorial. Great job
Great work It was helpful for me thanks a lot
that was fantastic ,thankyou
Well, I did enjoy it ....nice one
Great idea !!!!!! Gets really tough if you are trying to fill areas behind any part of the bird.
really good tutorial buddy, have a new sub!
Nice vid!!!
Thanks for sharing should be a lot of help!
Good job, bro!!!
Well done.
Very nice image of a gorgeous bird. We have a similar looking bird-of-prey here called American Kestrel.
Great video
Absolutely brilliant tutorial, Rob what has happened to you, miss your vloging
thanks bro. waiting for new tutorial videos
Thanks Rob, I got more from this tutorial than I thought possible, steady and to the point. Thanks.
Rob I need more personalised training on this 😢 This is very useful and informative..
Beautiful tutorial :). in this case though i personally like the original one :D
I'm my opinion, I did too. Maybe it's because I'm a little inexperienced compared to him, but I saw nothing wrong with the original, however they both looked amazing to me.
Very useful
Thank for it
I wasn't aware that content-aware fill could be performed on a locked background layer. Thanks.
Looking at the image it was taken at 1/60 second with low ISO. Had you got your camera on a tripod or monopod as its a very low s/s for a 500fl ?
Thanks a lot, Rob.
I have a question.
I am on a linux machine which already has GIMP.
Can I do something similar using it, instead of purchasing Photoshop.
OMG this is AMAZING something ill do in the future will save me lots of time thanks sooo much..
Good stuff Rob, I take it the camera was locked off on a tripod to get the kestrel sharp at 1/60th at 500mm?
Actually I shoot all my wildlife handheld. The 500PF is the perfect lens in this regard - lightweight and incredibly good VR. A bit of good technique goes a long way too. Thanks for your comment!
That was quite impreessive
itsnot work in my one,
I recently photographed a group of badgers in my local area. The subjects look great but the background is quite poor. Would replacing the background in Photoshop be considered fake wildlife photography? I waited hours for them to immerge from their sett and it would seem a terrible shame for the images to go to waste despite the undesirable background.
Why does this video not play? It worked 100% a few hours ago??
top
Hmmm I love all this can be done, but, to me, I do feel it's kinda cheating the viewer into thinking the final version is un-edited and just great camera work?
Just one thing though... This doesn't need that bloody awful 'music' in the background.
and I went to Richmond countless times and only saw woodpeckers.
