  • In this seventh video in the PerfectPiano series, we will be looking at Scales. Many pianists twist their wrists or even elbows when playing scales. Key to scale-playing is a fluent passing of the thumb.

    I like your clear explanations and so glad you agree with my thoughts ..the importance of thumb under and over technique. I've seen many people advocate moving the hand with little or no lateral thumb movement but while the movement becomes less pronounced at speed it still essential I think. There is no other way of course to play legato at a slow tempo without pedal.
