Fragged Empire 2 is a revised rules version of the combat-oriented scifi classic by Wade Dyer. The RPG will primarily come in two books: the lore and the rules. The first edition has a wide variety of expansions.

I've run a Fragged Empire campaign for some time (since the inception of 1st Edition) and we've all had a blast with it, and that created a long-running space opera epic with really awesome moments and turns of events. I even chronicled the campaign in serialized form in my blog (in Spanish) and created some house rules and random content generators for space exploration and adventure. Now the campaign is in hiatus, but we're all waiting to get the 2nd Edition rules in our hands so we can keep flying through Haven and beyond. To us, Fragged Empire is indeed a sci-fi classic!
One of the best sci-fi settings imo. The system can be a little tricky to get into it but when you catch it...it's awesome and customizable without limits without having "indestructible builds". Give it a try!
This game is my guilty pleasure. Never had a chance to really play the game outside of my conversion for Cypher, but just reading the books is awesome and gives so many great ideas for all my other games (both, sci-fi and fantasy).
Definitely check out Fragged Aeternum. It's awesome.

Good to see a new edition is coming, I was looking at the first edition a year or so ago and honestly forgot to follow up on actually buying it.
Yeah, lots of nice improvements in this edition.
Just backed this. I have everything thats been released for Fragged Empire and this KS and edition is no different. Gotta have it all. Fragged Empire is one of the best hidden gems of the entire ttrpg hobby.
The arts are truly stellar. I watched Wade played Fragged Empire 2 with Plus One Xp team. It sounds fun.
Then if Dave covers it, it must be worth looking. 👍

Lort. I love the amount of lore and background, but dang. As the video went on, it just felt like there was no end to the races and classes, haha! If you can think it, it exists in this setting.
its a strange and bizarre nitpick i had with the original edition, but I'm genuinely really glad they made the vargarti look a bit more distinct in this edition, it always seemed like a borderline plot hole that it was "a sci-fi game where humanity is extinct" then there's just casually some nondescript standard humans species hanging around
obviously not everyone wants to play a bug man or an army gorilla alien, but the kaltorans, and later the remnant i feel already filled thay niche in interesting ways
the corp as a faction were always fine, i just wished they'd made them idk lizard people or something

This is the best sci-fi rpg setting I’ve read in easily a decade. It’s scalable to your story, and has lots of possibilities.
God the world and characters look so amazing, as does the art. But the heavy focus on combat and it's gazillion little things really kills this for me and all my groups.

I like the setting but when you start talking about rules I can't help imagining my players eyes all glazing over if I tried to teach it to them
Great review as always, I would consider getting this just to read the lore and setting descriptions. It's like a more well-realised Warhammer 40k, mostly because it's the work of one person rather than a committee of different ideas over decades, but I love seeing the fantasy trope inversions, like "oh, they're orks! And they are like hobbits!" Etc.
Makes me feel rather ashamed at my own feeble unfinished efforts at a fantasy/sci-fi setting/rpg.

Setting's interesting but unfortunately its not for me. Honestly wished there's an option where humanity didnt die off but became a niche, or suvived to get their shiz together. Also im not really keen on dark sci fi settings since for me we have a gamut of it already and i would like to see more optimistic sci fi settings that are interesting as well as being genuinely optimistic.
That being said, the excion idea might be something id nick for my own sci fi setting.
That's literally the Palantor's entire thing, mate.
This game is way to crunchy for me, but maybe there are some gems to be plucked from the earth of its setting.

I will buy an RPG just to look at the Art. If I don't like the Art, I won't be as interested in it.
I get the feeling that this RPG have some similarities with Starfinder, regarding starship etc..

I wish they'd removed level-based advancement.. it feels so old and artificial.
