That scouser has usually been quite balanced when i've seen him on here, but his head's gone today... he's let his emotions get the better of him, and he's also let the media whip up those emotions.
Saying Jurgen's one of the best ever? Come on... he's a great manager, but not one of the best ever... is he even top five Liverpool managers? Shankly, Paisley, Dalglish...
He tells Steve to calm down, but he's the calm one... he bangs on about resources but Liverpool have had as much resources as City - if their owners won't spend it, that's not City's fault... Plus from around 1960 till 1992 they had more than anyone else in the league.

Its about the feeling they bring out of football fans. Klopp is a legend and someone any player would die to play for. Pep is feared. I mean if that's the case how Leicester won it ill never know but more importantly Manchester United until recently were the richest team in the premier league (until 2023 when City surpassed them according to Deloitte's own rankings). Yet they been no way near the title since Fergie left. Resources are only part of the game, managers and buying well is more important. Exactly. This nonsense of “oh Arteta has spent more than Pep since joining Arsenal” is cherry-picking at its best and leaves out context. Of course he’s spent more because he’s playing catch-up and City already had a massive headstart in terms of finances and talent at their disposal. So, obviously Arteta has had to spend more in order to challenge City and make up for all them years when Arsenal were financially-stifled due to paying for the new Emirates stadium and were forced to sell their prized assets to rivals. Arsenal sold the likes of Clichy, Sagna, Kolo Toure, Nasri, and Adebayor to City all in a span of 5 years, which helped build them into the juggernauts they are now. Those were dark times. FFP introduced to limit the competition- nobody is that thick to not understand this. It was a norm, richest club used to dominate football with odd cases here and there. ManU, Liverpool, Barca, Madrid all did that. "Winning trophies with spending less" got glorified when city came in and ran the shop the best way it could be and other clubs were envy of the money, structure, sporting dominance. Now clubs instead of reaching in their pockets and investing are making their fans go after city instead of them. City is doing what they did for decades but now in social media era- crying and tears can be seen more.

They perform on par with their financial wherewithal Congrats to them. And to be clear I like pep and respect him. Huge fan of Foden and am very comfortable saying he’s way better than Saka. Huge fan. But the club itself is tainted either by the charges and/or the huge spend. If you can’t win w those players that would really be poor. Congrats. Bayern Leverkusen team of the year. “They perform on par with their financial withdrawal” I don’t understand this narrative when we see time and time again that money alone doesn’t buy success. Their spend is within the same borders as the other top 6 clubs, and yet their success the past decade is unparalleled. If you want to believe City are “shameful” because it helps you digest just how dominant they’ve been, knock yourself out. United consistently broke transfer records and were financed by American Billionaires (which people seem to think is ethically better then Saudi money?) but I bet you don’t bat an eyelid at them. As for the 115 charges, if you want to think that those charges are SO significant that city’s success is all fraudulent then believe that, but if you really read the charges you’ll realise any rules they allegedly broke were to help them reach the same levels of the top clubs, not to directly surpass them.

You do realize the wage structure that everyone is debating is inclusive of bonuses for competitions right? Just like LFC. Last year we won the treble so it would stand to reason that the wage bill for 22/23 would be the highest. Look at LFC wage bills when they nearly won the quad or CL or PL relative to seasons not winning anything. You’ll see the wage bill is smaller. LFC and MC wage structure is based heavily on how many comps the team is competing in, how far into the competition they go and winning them.

@@edenholt4394 Spot on. I would also add that since Pep came 2016/17, these are the following GROSS spend (true accounting measure of what a club is investing) Transfermkt:
      City: 1.15b pounds
      Arsenal: 1.017b pounds
      LFC: 750m
      MU: 1.156b pounds
      Chelsea: 1.653b pounds
      Tot: 796m pounds
      Since 2019/20

      MC: 640m pounds
      Since 2020/21
      Arsenal: 578m pounds
      MC: 498.5m pounds
If you want to do net spend, the above teams all have higher net spends than City with the exception of LFC and its by about 100m. Remember, in net spend, you also incorporate academy player sales too and City have over 400m pounds in sales of academy players since 2016 as our academy has been a gold mine which certainly helps out the net spend.

I like Big Steve, he talks a lot of sense on the logistics and tactics of football, but he’s incredibly disingenuous when talking about the way his club is ran. ‘Now they can’t talk about net spend with us’ ‘they can’t say we’ve bought the league anymore’- as if City hasn’t spent the 2nd most amount of money in PL history (despite only being around since 2008) with Pep spending 1.5 billion; city fans always like to say, ‘in the last few years we’ve got the lowest net spend AND we won the treble’ acting as if investment and finances isn’t accumulative and they’re just not profiting of the 2.5 billion they’ve spent in the PL.
‘We’ve lost Kompany, Aguero, Silva, Yaya, Gundogan, etc, etc, and we’re still consistent at the top all because of Pep’ Pep is a great manager, one of the best, but let’s not act like all these players weren’t immediately replaced by the best players in the world in this positions. Steve just can’t seem to accept the way in which his club is run and how the finances got there in the first place.

I'm sure he would rather go to the champions of the premier league. West Ham have the 3rd worst defense in the league, they cannot hold onto wins as we saw against Newcastle. Plus its at the ETIHAD where city rarely drop points then finally il add West Hams record is bad against city only 1 draw and 5 losses against City in past 6 games in the PL and in total 24 wins for city and 2 for West Hame with 5 draws.
