I first heard “Is He Worthy?” when Andrew Peterson introduced it during his Christmas show, Behold The Lamb Of God, which I was invited to be a part of, at the Ryman Auditorium last December. The song struck me as an instant hairs-on-the-back-of-your-neck raiser; an readily accessible, reverent, and ancient-feeling hymn of worship. And I loved the idea of writing a modern liturgy.
If it sounds as though I’m answering my own questions in this song, it’s because Andrew wrote this with a “call and response” worked into the structure. The idea is that the audience would be singing “We do/It is/He is, etc,” in agreement with the lead singer. But with me, alone in my studio, you’ll either have to use your imagination, or better yet, sing along.
I love this song, and I hope you enjoy my version - a very fitting cover for Holy Week and Easter.

Thank you, Marc! I grew up on Freddie's music and was warried, wondering if he had accepted Christ. I have no confidence in this. I allways dreamed of hearing how the voice of Freddie glorifies the Creator, but... Thank God, now I can at least hear about how it would be. This is a perfectly written song and then Marc comes and gives it the perfect performance. I wish this song was sung more among the Church when worshipping together. It's perfect for that. The theology is so good!

I am a long-year fan, but maybe I shouldn't watch Marc Martel's videos anymore. Always shows me how tiny musicians like me will always be in the shadow of the masters like Martel, with propably never having a chance of getting a bigger amount of listeners. The man singing in the video above my comment could easily sing to stadium crowds with a voice like that, not only because of the resemblance to Freddie, and has a f*****g 100,000 likes on Facebook and 56,000 subs on YT where there should be multiple millions. In another Marc Martel video someone wrote "you somehow motivate me but make me feel like nothing at the same time". That fits perfectly what I'm thinking. My singing voice is just the ghost of a trace of a pale imitation of Martel's (thank you, Josh Ritter). Please Marc, go on doing what you do and thank you for existing! You embody what so many little singers like me are dreaming of!
