Respected sir,i am making a hand-folded entreaty to your genius and greatness to dilate a bit on the following concept --(A)He returned home safely VS He returned home safe (B) He returned home happy VS He returned home happy.Sir,How Adjectives are used like Adverbs is a tricky concept i have come across in newspapers multiple times.
He returned home safe is used in informal/colloq. language
safely, happily etc are flat adverbs that are sometimes used without 'ly' ot describe the state
But He returned home safely is commonly used
