Sonic 3 Chronicles is a fan game about Sonic. Its first version was created by me in 2006. Now the game is being completely rebuilt. But its essence remains the same - this is an alternative version of Sonic 3, the purpose of which is to show the zones of the Competition mode (Azure Lake, Balloon Park, Chrome Gadget, Desert Palace, Endless Mine) as full-fledged levels that heroes get into due to the fact that the events in the game turned out differently: the bridge at the end of Angel Island did not collapse, and they ended up not in the Hydrocity, but in the Endless Mine. In addition to these levels, Angel Island Zone and several completely new levels are planned for this game.
This demo contains 3 full-fledged competition zones:
Endless Mine
Azure Lake
Balloon Park
There are 4 playable characters: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles and Mighty (so far they can only be used separately).
There is a version for PC (Windows) and for Android. Both versions have gamepad support.

So, this is essentially an alternate timeline where the switch to send Sonic down to HydroCity Zone didn't work and Sonic followed after Knuckles from there.
Always wanted to see what that little nook of Angel Island was like...

Something about seeing parts of the levels and realizing "Hey wait, that's the section from the competition mode!" just feels so good.

I always imagined something like this for years, and it's so cool to see that idea in action, I love the idea in this Fan Game! I always had in my mind a question of what was after that button on Angel Island (not in gameplay-wise, but thinking about a "map" for Angel Island), for me I always imagined that in there, it would be a shortcut to Marble Garden and a split-path for a cave being another entrance to Lava Reef outside of Sandopolis (and that cave could be Endless Mine)
And it's even more funny that some time later I tried to connect the multiplayer stages into Sonic 3's campain in a map for Angel Island, since those places are also on Angel Island, and my idea always was that:
Azure Lake is just like Launch Base, a big lake on Angel Island, so they're connected by a big river that flows around the island, passing through some zones such as Angel Island Zone itself
Baloon Park is connected with Carnival Night since both are parks
Chrome Gadget is also close to Carnival Night and Baloon Park, behind the mountains on the background, serving as some kind of base and at the same time a place to manage the park
Desert Palace is close to Sandopolis, but it is an oasis with a temple instead of a regular desert with pyramids
and Endless Mine is deep underground on Angel Island, just like Lava Reef and Hydrocity, and it would be connected to Lava Reef, especially due to the similar pattern of the rocks on the tileset, but it would be a bit more distant of the Volcano, so that's why Endless Mine is not that hot and does not have Lava and all that stuff
My 6 year old self is jumping with joy. I've always wanted to see what was to the right of the switch.

Tell your friend to re create the music of each stage (act 2 especially) they don’t fit the stages other than that the game looks great

these levels work really well, they feel also as if part of the game. I like how you worked some of the competition layouts into the levels.
Interestingly what is the level order for these extra zones? are they as is based on the demo or? would you keep the other zones that are similar? example endless mine is similar to lava reef (albeit with water), desert palace is similar to Sandopolis, baloon park is similar to carnival night... it's only chrome gadget and Azure lake that don't have a counterpart. I hope you finish this because it looks awesome.

@Bulleta_Gaming 2019 "sonic 3 competition" is NOT my game, I even don't know what is that game! I created first version of Sonic 3 Chronicles in 2006. Game didn't ever changed it's name.

Finally, after all these years, the Sonic 3 multiplayer Zones are getting the full attention they deserve!!! I’m so happy.

bruh, i WISH these were actual zones that were optional in S3&K's main story. brought a tear to my eye seeing all of this in action. now we need chrome gadget and desert palace zones and were good to go.

This is so cool, like an alternate route through Angel Island.
This looks so awesome! The only thing I don't understand is why the physics were changed, else it should be more like the original Sonic 3 physics engine. The idea is still very cool although maybe the level design could use some of the things that launch you at full speed in Sonic 2's chemical plant zone so that you don't need to use spindash every 2 seconds, else add super peelout
Really liking the look of this one so far. Having the Competition Stages from _Sonic 3_ become full-on levels is a great idea!
Oh I almost forgot to mention the stunning and dazzling soundtrack! This master game maker here didn't even forget that each act has a different soundtrack, but still following the same melody. In other words, even this pattern was greatly followed!

Honestly looks REALLY good, I love the idea of an alternate timeline where the switch to Hydro City didn't work and Sonic didn't get to go through Sonic 3
I must point out the utmost care this demo was made up with! The author not only didn't miss the extreme Sonic's movements, badnicks and obstacles, but also the boss battles! Countless demos really don't give a shit about creating new bosses and challenges, but not this game here! Even Sonic 3's complexity in its zones were indeed respected and kept here in a master way! PLEASE, FINISH IT! Simply awesome!

Level design is a bit jank, but I *love* the concept, the music, the boss fights, and the overall presentation of this game. I especially love the time-of-day transitions during the boss fights in Azure Lake, that was a great touch. And is that some Ristar inspiration I see in Balloon Park?
Overall, an awesome start, and I'm excited to see what the creator does with the remaining stages!
Can't wait to play this. Ever since I was a kid, I always dreamed of the competition zones in Sonic 3 becoming true zones (although I personally always imagined them fully integrated into S3+K to make it even more massive).

These levels look so sick, makes you wish they used them in the actual game, not just competition mode. Also the bosses here are neat!!!

A fan animator named Pedro have created fan animation of Sonic 3 & Knuckles where some times the competition zones appears for some brief time while the whole animation follows the initial zone order.
an incredible mod without a doubt (I think they could make it so that after finishing ballon park they could make it continue towards hydrocity zone and follow the game regularly)

Wouldn't it be more sense for Carnival night to appear after Ballon park, than Hydrocity zone anyway?
@@FuntikXX Do work on some of the level design, the log tubes in Azure Park and some ledges in the mines especially are a bit too tight. Awesome job overall!
This should of been in mania good job man .sonic team Shou put u on the pay roll. That lake stage zone 2was so cool the remix rocked 🤘🏾and I like how it transition from day to evening for act two. I always knew sonic 3 two player stages had more potential to the Sega letting them have. I like the Michael Jackson samples in balloon park at 2 it's really funky 🎶

This was so perfect that I thought the sand place and the industrial place would be coming up next! And that final boss was beautiful. Kudos to whomever made it!
This is such a wonderful mod to be honest. I couldn't imagine those 5 wonderful Competition mode zones from Sonic 3 would ever have a spot into 1 player mode. The backgrounds / music are truly underrated for this franchise. Same could say about the music in Sonic 2 two players mode.

I think for the levels after Endless Mine, you should have intro sections that show where they branch from the main path.
For instance, Desert Palace should be a single level that acts as a secret Act 2 for Sandopolis.
It was only left two stages. Can you create those 2 stages (Chrome Gadget and Desert Palace) with 2 acts to January or February 2024 ?

DIALOGUE 1:
After Sonic had foiled Eggman yet again, he progress forward onto a Bridge, which was at the bottom of a Cliffside. The Fall, looked endless. Suddenly, that Red Echidna appeared, pressing a button. Nothing happened. “Why isn't it working??..” Knuckles was confused. He re-attempted. Nothing happened. The Echidna lost his patience, and left. Something came out of the Cascade of Water, a Platform to help Sonic get up to the Cliffside. “Sweet! Now to go chase after that Echidna!” Sonic said, as he jumped up to the Cliffside. Whilst continuing, he found a tunnel. He walked into it, as it lead to an Endless Mine. “Hmmm...I guess I should explore this place?” Sonic said.
DIALOGUE 2:
Sonic reached the end of the “Endless Mine” as he now followed up another Tunnel. Outside the Tunnel was indescribable beauty, it was a Lake, with beautiful Snowy Mountains in the Background. “Woah, this place looks beautiful!” Sonic said, as he ran down a Loop and Explored.
DIALOGUE 3:
Sonic had come across a Mini Boss. Later on in the Battle, it fired out Two Gigantic Fireballs, as they Burnes onto the Lake, turning the Land Parched and Desolate. Eventually, Sonic also foiled this Miniboss.
DIALOGUE 4:
After Sonic had yet again, foiled Eggman, he hung onto a Ballon, which had somehow lifted him Sky High. He flew, until he reached a Beautiful Ballon Park, as he let go and landed. “Casino Night vibes...” Sonic said.

One point of criticism, the Azure Lake Act 2 music sounds kinda fucked up, with the melody in a major-key, and the bassline in minor.

Getting crushed by a monitor makes Sonic take damage, but you do not lose your shield or rings. Huh. Usually, the monitor lands on the layer in front of Sonic.

this looks honestly great! the levels look a bit long tho, maybe there could be a bit of shortening and reorganizing, esp in act 2 of endless mine

Correction: City Escape (Known in the OST as "Escape From the City") actually referenced Endless Mine. Do note that Endless Mine came in S3, which came BEFORE Sonic Adventure and SA2. A lot of people make the mistake you made. Happens to the best of us.
@@FinalHopeTrio The Act 2 version of the song was specifically made for this hack. So like OP said, 9:02 to 9:15 (where Act 2 is taking place) is referencing City Escape.
It’s a call back to City Escape referencing Endless Mine.

@Bulleta_Gaming with a shield or invincibility the robotnik/eggman tv would have been safe, but it wouldn't do anything about any others

@@TheHedgehogest sonic's jump, the flame shield and electric shield dont feel accurate. Maybe because I'm used to how sonic 3 controls and I can tell when something's off, or maybe I'm just thinking about it too much because it's still a demo-
Why does sonic rotate so slowly when he is in a ball here?
I fixed physics (and this moment too) and going to release new version soon, there also will be alot of bugfixes, graphics improvement on Endless Mine and Azure Lake, and added Gumball Machine bonus stages.

Being absolutely real here: I always liked Balloon Park's aesthetics far better than Carnival Night's, and it's so incredible to see a full level made from it even if I'm not 100% into its level design or bosses.
This looks cool and i totally dig the idea
However, the levels seems a bit too linear? like no branching paths or in Endless Mine specifically, too many backtracking
