Build 2 - Prayerful Strike/Great Stars is a little underrated. Yes, holy damage is ass endgame, so just go Heavy infusion and go all into strength with enough faith for buffs. Prayerful Strike scales with AR, so no need to use Sacred affinity. Good build whoever submitted, S tier with a few tweaks imo
For the first build, the heavy attacks can either be not charged, half charged, or fully charged. The length of the thrust combo depends on how long you hold down heavy attack.

Main weapon is Helphen's Steeple, but I also use Death's Poker and Death's Ritual Spear, Prince of Death's Staff, and the Death Sorceries like Rancor, Ancient Deaths Rancor, Explosive Ghostflame, Fia's Mist, and Tibia Summons. For Talismans I have Magic Scorpion Charm, Godfrey's Icon, Graven Mass, and Ritual Sword. For Drip I have Sanguine Noble Hood, Mohg's Robe unaltered, and Night Calvary Gauntlets and Greaves. The stats can be done however but for Intelligence and Faith I have it 60 Intelligence and 40 Faith
These are all level 170 builds? Here's one. "The No Retreat Build" RL170 Hero starting class Vigor-60 Mind-26 Endurance-50 Strength-78 Base stats for the rest. Physicks-Spiked Cracked Tear, Opaline HARDtear Talismans-Axe,Viridian+2,Erdtree+2,Dragoncrest Great shield Armor-Omensmirk Mask, Banished Knights Armor(altered), Veterans Greaves, Veterans Gauntlets 2H Great Mace(Endure) Because of the low cost of Endure and your high amount of FP you will not need blue flasks so you get all 14 healing flasks. It's a simple and effective build really, use Endure then charge up a heavy then repeat. If you need to heal there is no reason to back off, just use Endure and drink. The high amount of stamina that you have will allow you to keep fighting. Edit- swap out Erdtree Favor +2 with whatever elemental drake Talisman+2 is needed. Like HaliDrake +2 for Elden Beast, Spelldrake+2 for Loretta, etc etc...

Lose the great mace and swap right hand 1 for a Zweihander bloodtax affinity change talisman to bloodlord exultation keep the axe tali and dragon crest and Alexander shard you can use the white mask but you don't really need it. Would be my recommendation other then that your original builds fine id just drop the great axe
If I remember correctly waves of darkness scale from intelligence stat. So, using it on pure str character won't be effective. The best way to use this AOW is giving a weapon frost affinity (basically it's 5 hits with 1 skill and each of them applies frost). Honestly I think that with lion's claw on a claymore you wouldn't need any additional weapon at all😁 Also there's too much vigor. You don't need so much in first playthrough. I would leave 40 vigor, 40 endurance and 60 str (because you get very low damage after cap of 60), upgraded faith at least up to 15 to get access to "flame grant me strength" buff or to 25 to get golden vow also. Upgrade mind up to 25 and spend the rest of remaining points into dex (probably change claymore affinity to quality). And I would recommend to type which talismans you used before getting to endgame ones (such as shard of Alexander or erdtree's favor+2).

never really see whip builds. that's my favorite build so far, works well in pvp and totally shreds in pve.
