You may be wondering... Are freeskates the same thing as a RipStik? Find out here 👉 czcams.com/video/WyPlVDRKEFE/video.html
Commuting is the exact reason I bought my first pair. They're super portable. I take them on the train and ride them around campus. Curbs are probably the biggest disadvantage, but being able to ride through crowds is super nice especially for going to college.
And yes I have ridden them through airports
Sameee the airport ground is always so smooth!
Gave your acting sucks
“Wow Jeff that’s reeeaaally convenient”
Jeff shakes his head
They’re also less likely to go into the street if you lose control of your board.
I've had three guys at the skatepark say "what the f***!!?" in the exact same way in a row as I passed them xD
Haha if only you caught that on camera!
"no one's gonna call you out on breakin' your combo" lol 😂 💙
Free skates are just incredible. I would say one of the best inventions on the skating world!
You right bro
Totally agree... its a skating revolution
When do I use them? When I don't want to walk? >> Always :D
Would be nice to make a few videos of you guys going around the city on freeskates!
C'est la même pour moi, tt le temps xD
I loved freeskating on campus. Skating through crowds was the best part!!
Have you considered either of these two ideas: 1; an open hook arm that you could slip half of your foot into for allowing you to potentially lift the skate up curbs along with your foot? You'd still have freedom to slip your foot in and out at will but you'd have just enough arm to kick it up without losing it. Think of it almost like the kick on a skate board that allows enough surface to drag the board up with your foot. The second one is harder to convey, but if the surface could rotate you could change your leg positioning while you rode from sideways to forward. It wouldn't be a free motion, it would have to have resistance and potentially a way to adjust resistance, but with concerted effort while riding you could pivot side to side. just ideas to play with.
Like the streetboard toe clips...
Thinking about getting some. I like both of your vibe. Genuine and fun.
Thanks John!
I’m going to buy from you guys bc of these videos. Thank you.
I love skating and am looking for something I can take to the grocery store for example , portable and small.
Awesome!!! Great to hear. Super portable and great for taking with you. Thanks!
So glad you guys did this video ! Couldn't agree more on this. I especially like the fact that you can put them in your bag, that's why I take them everyday I go to college, like you did xD
Keep it up !
Yeah sometimes I would grab freeskates on the way out the door, then get to class and go to put them in my bag until I realized I already had a set in my bag! 😂
I am an inline skates person. But I haven't ridden them in over 10 years, since high school. the only but huge reason is that you have to carry shoes with you. this to me seems like the best alternative. I am not into freestyle tricks. For me it's pure function, short distance commute.
Yes, that is a great reason to make the switch. Convenient, compact, fun
Yup, totally like the simplicity of it as transportation. Even I got zero trick but still love it.
Its crazy how practical and convenient they are, wish I had a pair
These look so promising! I live in the UK and we have quite narrow cycling lanes. And theft has always been one of my fears, free skates are probably the most convenient commute option. However I have never used skates/boards before so I'm quite hesitant to grab these. Cheers!
It definitely takes practice to get comfortable, but after that it’s soooo fun and convenient. I practiced by commuting to and from college classes daily… this made freeskating second-nature to me. I highly recommend it :) -Gabe
I love when people ask it’s always there “JMK FREESKATES “
I agree Freeskates are the best way to travel in a city , you feel so free !
Nice video guys , as always 😉
I’m trying to get back into freeskating. They are so neat, thanks for the video!
You should! Thanks
Great video might grab a pair, love skating and they look very fun
yep is looks easy but i can't also find a stable foot position to begin to free skate
but once a will roll on it ;-))
Hard to do At first learned yesterday but totally worth iy
I think I am having the most fun
- Free skates (still learning)
- Longboard
- Electric skateboard
- Electric Unicycle
This invention looks incredible! And I am planning to buy a pair. Really excited!
Awesome!! Don’t forget to binge our videos while you wait for it to arrive 😆 Mind sharing how you found the sport?
i ride mine all over the collage campus, fun asf, get hella crazy looks which is funny and a good leg workout
Awesome Alec!
We totally agree with you 👍🏻!
I'm sold. I've just ordered a pair. Saw it the first time on the DJI OM 5 promo video and went "WTFlip?" Jeff is so dope in a way that he's always looking high but at the same sound so down to earth and humble. You guys are the sole reason I'm converted! p.s. I was an inline skater a long, long time ago.
Went back to the DJI video and realised the skaters in the clip were Jeff and Gabe. Well done, guys!
Thanks Saif! Welcome to the community. We appreciate the words
Winter was my favorite season until I learned how to free skate :(
You should do a transportation/commute comparison between the slades skates and the free skates
My one beef about the JMK sling is that the zipper does not lock so there's a chance of it loosening as you're walking, and possibly having the skates fall out. My simple solution to this is to use a safety pin, but you can also buy a locking zipper slider to replace the standard one. The safety pin trick does the job really well though.
Sorry to hear that happened. That is not typical for the shoulder bag
Saw these on Braille skateboarding I think I’m gonna get a pair to add to my wood with wheels collect (skateboard, longboard, and now these)
Awesome!
Nice video gabe
alright you've talked me into it and i'll finally heed the ads throughout everything i use, lol. on my next pay i'm pickin one of these up, and it'll be YOUR skates not some cheap one on amazon.
You rock! 🙌🙌🙌
YES. Free Skating is one of many best ways of transportation.
Disagree, I love mine, but transportation sucks!
My biggest concern would be handling hills which are plentiful in my area. Of course you could just walk down them easily enough but have you tried hills yourselves? I have Xgliders btw.
Freeskates were actually invented for downhill. We will do a video soon about downhill riding. You definitely want to carve to control your speed
Cool, gonna buy a pair later.
You rock!
I’m from Thailand and just order your freeline skate from Japan! It’s coming next and I’m excited to tried it out but I got the classic wheel somehow the person that I’m ordering with did not pick proformance wheel 🥺😢
Bummer! Hope you can get the pro wheels soon
I tried it before I was ready. Got a nice road rash. Back to practice.
Oh no, take it nice and slow!
Thats why I love the free skates ➿➿🔥❤️😅
Wow those emojies look just like them lol➿➿
Can someone post the link to the shoulder bags pls
I just got a pair 2 weeks ago, I’ve made major strides in learning so far and I’d say I’ve collectively spent about 10 hours total on them, because I’m really busy…but seriously I was riding them earlier and I hit a tiny rock that stopped my skate so abruptly I jumped off. Idk if they are really good for commuting or I just suck still 😜 but I’m sure it could depend on where you live. I know where you guys are located and all the videos your channel puts out, looks like there is some prime skating ground. I’ll have to experiment some more. But these are fun though, I can see once you get the hang of them, you can cruise! All my friends and people I work with (skateboarders) look at them and say…” impossible, good luck” 😂 I’ll be proving them wrong by the end of summer lol
Your commute confidence truly rises with skill level and time on the skates. Years of experience will definitely help your ability to ride over terrain you'd never imagine when you're first learning. The pro riders ability to skate miles through all types of roads is amazing! Keep progressing, you will be commuting soon!
Hey, any chance you can give an update?
3:39 you're welcome 😂😂
I didnt even notice the freeskates at first haha
Awesome
i love freeskates eventhough i can't do any trick cuz im noob. atleast i could skate forward and still people lookin at me like "wow thats cool, what are those?" not a lot of people know what freeskates are so i always skate alone -_- sorry for bad english
@M W hmm for me it took quite a while, probably a month, can't remember.
I got a pair of some cheap skates off of amazon (not jmk) and I was wondering what the cardboard spacer was on these jmks and if that was something that is needed for these? does there need to be a slight gap between the plates and the trucks in order for these to work effectively or do i just need more practice lol. Thank you in advance!
Cardboard?
I would very much like to see an experiment with L hook on both skates that would allow small jumps over curbs.
The hooks unfortunately would take away from the freedom and make being able to bail safely much more difficult
I love the look of free skates but where I live it's hilly how good can you go up slopes and hills?
czcams.com/video/nqzmZK0Xj7c/video.html
Im a beginner, who just picked it up. After about 20 minutes of riding freeskates im always sooo exhausted. I feel like im doing something wrong :(
FINALLY!
How do we invest?
When he said "My name is Jeff" I just screamed that "Ma name's Jeff" scene
Funny fact: We do that at the office too. LOL
Free Skates are truly incredible, but they’re slightly expensive. The JMK Free Skates cost $160, but I recommend starting with a cheaper one before you invest in the more expensive ones. Aside from that, Free Skates are great!
Except that learning to ride on low-quality skates is a nightmare. Please, don't do that to yourself.
Can u buy the freeskates in person or is it only online purchasing
Yes, we have a shop in San Diego!
I need to get me a pair of free skates they look so cool
So much fun!
These are f***ing hard man, I bought a skateboard and was literally skating by myself the next day with no tutoring. The only thing I was told was not to push mongo by a friend a year prior, these are WAY more difficult
Difficult sure, rewarding absolutely. Nothing good comes easy
@@jmkride that's why I'm still doing it, looks like the most fun thing in the world I'll get it down eventually
Snakeboarding too
I really like your videos, I'm new to free skate I'm from Brazil. would you be able to send a bag to carry them for me?
Awesome! Glad you like them. We are working to get them to Brazil
I have question, is freeline skate easier than waveboard?
And is freeline skate faster than waveboard?
It's a little more difficult to lean with endless possibilities. Much faster than a waveboard
Can you skate over sidewalks with inch wide cracks?
The more you ride the more confident you'll get in navigating rougher terrain and bigger cracks
I make my way to work riding freeskate 3 times a week but in many terrains is almost impossible to make it.
Some terrains are more difficult to ride on. With experience you'll unlock more ability to ride on them
im not really sure about that, i feel a small skateboard would be better but i still love free skates
Not as maniable
How fast can you usually go on paved sidewalks?
A good cruising speed is about 12mph. Faster if speed is the purpose
Can I ride these without flat shoes. Most of my shoes have a larger sole
It may take some more getting used to, but you can do it
I really want a pair but shipping to Australia is kinda expensive lol
Hopefully we can find another distributor there
01:12 😂
How to order from Philippines
Head to our website, we have the link to our Philippines shop there
can you go up hills on them though?
Yes! Check our page, we made a video about going uphill
How about the speed? Faster than running? Slower than cycling?
Yes and Yes. But more convenient that cycling as they can come with you
Where to buy
jmkride.com!
Maybe if you have a perfect lane of glass connecting you to your work which is only 3 miles away. This is one of the last reasons I'd ever tell someone to get these things.
Sorry you had a bad experience, stay safe.
how to do this for endurance if its even possible ? like 10-15k 1-2 times a day :D
and use straps
Can you get these in the uk
Yup! Here’s the European store - jmkride-europe.com 👍
@@jmkride thanks
I would love to do that but there too expensive
And that's completely okay!
Hi.. I'm 35 yrs old.. am i late to enjoy freeskating?
Definitely not! We have many riders over 40
TLDR: are cheap freeskates impossible to learn on?
Hey guys, I need some guidance! I'm a rollerblader and sometime longboarder, and a couple years ago I picked up some freeskates from Amazon, just the $30 cheap pair. All the skaters I know in my town (including me) have tried to get 'em rolling but can't seem to manage even after countless youtube vids. :( Is this b/c lack of skill or all b/c I bought cheap crap?
It's cliché, but you get what you pay for. Brands that cheap can't put good bearings or wheels on their skates. That really affects the ride and makes an already potentially difficult learning experience even more difficult
@@jmkride Ok, noted. Using your tutorial videos (that are so very well done btw) I think I can at least get rolling...once I can manage that you can bet I'll be swapping to some sick JMK's!!!!
I've had Freeline Skates for about 15 years pretty much since there inception and whilst I enjoy my new JMKs I hate that they are so friggin uncomfortable to carry. I miss being able to put the two skates together and carry them with my thumb through the center of them like a bowling ball. The JMKs you need the carry bag which is dorky as shit 🤦🏼♂️
Thanks for the input Nick. The bag is the first of several future options.
@@jmkride
I don't know about the first...
Just put back the hole in the middle 🤦🏼♂️

Is it easy to ride a freeskate?
There's definitely a learning curve similar to riding a bike. But anyone can learn and we have many tutorials to help!
I love free skates
Me too :)
Not hating at all this looks like alot of fun but ridiculous as a form of transportation, I can imagine you'd even get half the speed you would on inline skates with a massive learning curve
You should check out our other vids. You'll be surprised if that's a worry
Pls make free skates available in Saudi Arabia 🇸🇦
You can order from our UAE distributor
Just strap them to your feet then you can go up curbs
Cant go up a curb though...
czcams.com/video/PTn4wSHrQYg/video.html This is just one example of going up a curb. There are other ways we'll feature in a future vid
@@jmkride nice. Never thought of a boneless on freeskates. 🙋♂️
1:24 Riding on giant wheels? What?
First world country, main thing in this video.
Are you from first world country?
-Yes: Watch the video
-No: Skip it
No need to skip. There's tons of helpful items even if your Country doesn't have the best roads
But actually way slower than rollerblades
They can go as fast as you take them
@@jmkride yeah, but being bound to a small wheel diameter there is still a huge difference in possible speed
@@Noah-es7tw RollerBlades definitely have a commuting ease, however freeskates were actually invented for downhill and can handle speed very well. The wheels are comparable to longboard wheels in size.
please ge me a freeskates😭😭😭
Literally Heelys are better in every point examined in this video but still they're not a thing
Uuuuhhhhhh lol
I think my unicycle serves up a better commuting expience then tiny wheels that get caught up in cranks. You obviously havent seen the streets in some of these cities
It may be on certain surfaces. While a unicycle can't compare to the portability of freeskates. Ultimately it's your preference
