Ladies and Gentlemen…this is a by-product of consistency and longevity…This is the 8th project together for Mike Taylor (organ and MD) and Derrick Hearn (Bass). Add Brent Easton (Drums) for 7 and Quad (Keys) for 5…then throw in Birdman for his 2nd or 3rd and you got brothas who know where each other is gonna be musically. Derrick and Brent lock together in their sleep…ad the others on top and you got the NEW G sound!!!

When I try to do those monster fills l often lose the "1" and it ends up off beat. Lol. Grant it I don't listen to or practice this style but I love watching my gospel bro's lighting it up.
I think I do the same...And I don't know what the "1" is but I end up off beat plenty of times
The “one” is the 1,2,3,4 1!! Landing on the 1 is difficult but learn to slow the lick down really slow before you try it in real speed approach it with your style as well can’t always duplicate what they do that’s why they get the Big Bucks but trust try that approach it works that last chop he did at the end was to crazy but I slowed it down and I got it that’s how I end my shout music

Brent is amazing. I still remember back in like 2010 I used to clean his car since I worked at the dealership he got it from. He even invited me to attend his practice sessions. I regret not going. Still remember when he showed me a prototype of his drums sticks… crazy looking.
