  • Hey friends,
Today I am showing you just how I plan out my life for an upcoming week. This helps me be the best mom and wife I can be, but also accomplish all of the stuff that each week has for me. I did it step by step so it can be followed if you're someone who struggles with staying organized and wants to follow along. Do you have a planning routine?

Great video. I’ve been using multiple things for lists, brain dumps, daily schedules, meal and grocery lists etc similar to what you do but I want to have it all in one planner. I used the well planned day this year and liked it but had to customize it since I had my home cleaning schedules and other maintenance lists in excel and they contain multiple pages. So I had to print those out as well as other calendars for their multiple things they do and glue stick them all on!! But now the cover is tearing off 😆. but it looks like you love planning as I do!! Thanks for a great video!!

Sundays after Church and Family time. I sit prepare for Co-op the next day. Then plan for everything during the rest of the week. In my moms corner I have my planner that stays there and I fill it in throughout the week from whatever I added into my phone. The only thing I do not keep track of is Homeschool assignments. I mainly do not do this because its not a state requirement so I don't even bother with it. But then again I do keep track for my sons transcripts when he finishes something. I definitely meal plan, mainly because that is one of our biggest expenditures.

DITLs and organizing are a few of my favorite things from your channel :). Before I started homeschooling I used the Erin condren monthly deluxe because truly all I needed was a monthly view with note pages! Used one page per week and made categorized lists like your notebook. Now I have the hourly because I have more activities and appts to keep track of so I make my "general" list in the sidebar, enter in the day specific things for the week, and for homeschool material I include a small box with that weeks spelling words that we are working on (from tgtb but at our own pace so I just keep it as a separate list) and in the monthly view I label the weeks for Exploring nature with children curriculum so I can gather materials ahead of time. I do use a separate notebook for "lesson planning" but that's not complicated and done some time on the weekend as well!

Hi Ashlee, I enjoy your videos very much! I'm in the west valley of Arizona and homeschool our 12 year old son. I wanted to give more info on myself since I plan on commenting more instead of being a lurker of your videos. I see that we plan similarly; however, I use a large open flip calendar located on my counter in front of our morning basket. I've tried a cute planner notebook, but I have a hard time notating that way consistently. I have no idea why...maybe because it has a cover and when closed and/or located elsewhere then out of sight out of mind lol. I love your idea of being lenient with the days you are cooking your written out meals. I will also utilize more of the after church planning time idea. Okay, back to schooling. Thanks again!

My husband is a planner and he likes to know way ahead of time what's going on ie: plans for the week, dinner, etc. and unfortunately I have failed miserably in this area. You have inspired me to start planning out my week. My husband will be thrilled! Thanks for the motivation and encouragement!

I literally buy a dollar store calendar and put everything in that, which probably sounds crazy but works well for my husband and I so we both see it. We only have two kids, but I imagine if I had a CZcams business and more kids I’d probably need a planner. ☺️ I do use and love that Target meal planner! That’s helped my kids not to bug me and always ask what’s for dinner.

I do my planing very similarly, but I don't have a special specific day and time when I set down every week. I wish I did, but my husband has a swing shift job so our weekend are sometimes in the middle of the week. I really have to write everything down even the daily house cleaning stuff, because I'm not a natural cleaner. I like things clean, but I can very easily go do something else and not be bothers by the dirty dishes until there's a mountain and sadly a smell coming from the kitchen...lol I know that's sad right...eek! Clutter and stuff doesn't bother me either so I have to be really diligent about scheduling in all the things you do plus the small everyday things or truly they won't get done. I also journal a bit in my planner about our day. I find that I'm not so good at know exactly how long it take me to accomplish tasks even when I've timed myself and given myself that amount of time the next day it takes longer or something happens and I'm distracted or I find myself piddling. So I'm always over planning my days. I love your simple tips about adding things to the notes on your phone that's great. I use the notes on my phone for a list of breakfasts, lunches, and dinners so when I can't think I have a reference. I tried it for my weekly to dos but I'm a pen and paper girl, something about physically writing it myself feels and good and helps me get it done! Thanks for sharing! I feel you did a great job and would love to see more of these very motivational, in fact I need to do some planning today now that I have our soccer schedule. Ps I love how you draw in your our check boxes I do that too.

Hey Ashlee! Thank you so much for this organization video. I'm going to try this system you have and I bet I will notice a much smoother week for my family. ❤ I have a question for the poetry tea times you do... I've never done one with my kiddos but I'm considering trying it out and inviting my homeschooling friend and her kids. I was wondering if you could tell me a few of your kid's favorite themes? Thank you!!!

I definitely have to map out what days are we doing a library trip or even just a visit to my grandma or my son and I can become very flustered with the lack of organization. I have to know what meals I'm cooking on what days because I live so far out of town that I don't want to inadvertently wait to use fresher produce later in the week only to find it spoiled.😣 Can you tell that's happened!? As far as the homeschooling part of my planner I just keep track of what my 5th grader has done and what he needs for his science on science days so I can be sure it's available to him. And then for the 2, almost 3 year old, I keep track of what we've done and what skill he might have mastered, like if he has mastered a letter sound or something like that so I know what we can work on next.

Do you grocery shop on the same day every week? I try to make sure I have a meal plan set by the time Sunday rolls around, but I'm not consistent with the grocery shopping 😬 we eat 6 days a week at home, but sometimes I'm scrounging.
