The best way for the teams to choose POI's will be to put everyone in a real life Octagon and Fight it out Royal Rumble style.

On the plus side the games will be a lot more dynamic. Right now each games feels a bit “routine” until the last few zones. Teams make a lot of pathing decisions based on their knowledge of other teams and how they play out of a POI. That’s going to be a lot harder to remember in game, so at the very least there will be more chances for things to happen. The negative is that not all POIs are created equal. So imagine getting cliff side with 300k on the line.
Yeah this is like most changes. We get a big reaction initially, and then people end up accepting that it's not all bad.
They definitely need to balance the POIs. I wonder how they will handle LAN finals. What do you think about them dropping the extra points the top 10 teams get for winning the winners bracket? And instead they switch that to the order teams choose their POIs. For example, first team in winners bracket will get to pick their poi first instead of getting 10 pts? Just a random idea, but seems more fair than getting those 10 extra points that for the most part don't do much. I don't think a single team has won LAN finals even with those 10 extra pts going into it.

As a spectator it would be a good change (if they added the ability to choose location and contest after legend selection and maybe a bit higher of a drop ship)because it makes the gameplay more randomized like macro rotations for teams that have been doing the same thing for multiple years but it’s a hard line to balance that rng aspect while also being fair to all

I think a slot system is probably the best way. So the bigger POI will have 2 slots making it a contest. It should free up some of the better POI's hopefully or give a team the option to contest a better POI
One of the main reason they are doing this is to remove contesting and making games more unpredictable. Not saying i agree with it, i think contests are important and fun to watch.

Keep scrims as random poi. However, the better you do in scrims should lead to a better poi choice # at lan. This would lead to higher quality scrims because teams would be fighting for the first pick at lan for their poi.
However scrims should rotate between regions so it’s more fair.
Also Van placing 20th from lift is no surprise and just shows this sucks.

To answer wiggs question, how we can make it better:
Make more POIs named, and balance the number of loot spawns per POI
To the larger POIs with more loot, add double drop spots to allow for contests at big POIs. If you want a strong POI with plentiful loot there should be a risk of contest.
Double the height of the drop ship, or maybe just 50% higher. Either way allow more flexibility in how you can drop. Doesn't have to be cross map, but should be higher.
If they want this system, they cant have such an imbalance in loot spawns across POIs. That alone makes the system trash. If loot was more balanced people wouldnt care as much.

For Matchpoint they could go back to 1 ship for all
They should map out zones for each poi so that you know what is “claimed” per say. Then take out redundant poi’s like barometer north and south. Then add in a system for the bottom 2-5 teams in the draft to be able to contest for a spot. having different sized zones for diffferent poi’s should lessen the imbalance in the looting. And the contest for bottom 2-5 teams should be enough for early game so it’s not absolute snooze fest. With that the draft system should be done with every game with priority on placements for last game ex. 1st place gets last pick or vice versa. first game tho can be completely randomized with a drawing system. pull a number out a hat kinda thing.

Here’s my theory; investors, executives, and developers are trying to improve and/or retain active concurrent player numbers by forcing the pros to set an example for how to jump/land at the beginning of a match. Because, they probably focus grouped players who quit playing the game and asked them what their biggest reason for quitting the game was, and getting eliminated at the beginning of a match was probably at the top of their list.

I miss the good ol kraber patty days bruh I understand in proplay when you have just have very good players on pc that can just insta headshot it sucks a lot, but when that sniper use to be the best eye candy I would ever see when opening a care package, but now you get it and it just doesn’t do what it needs to do anymore and just really lost its value in play unless you use it to third party honestly

How can they even make this fair for LAN? Theres 6 games a set and 20 teams so what if a team just get shafted and gets 15th pick every set? Even if the draft is per game some teams will still never get a pick before 5th. Or on the opposite end, what about a team getting high picks every set, then seeds high and gets high pick in finals?

THIS SOLVES NOTHING, while ruining the skilled component of dropping, reducing the strategic dynamics of drop flexibility mid-tournament, and takes away the development of exciting rivalries off drop. Those amazing moments with O7 and E8 would be completely impossible.
The obvious, easy solution remains just to make competing for drop spots more equitable by regulating, officially, which servers are played on during scrims (ie. an even distribution by region). We all heard Wigg's speech/ rant after Reject won, and he was absolutely correct.

For POI you get teams to decide best to worst POIs (20per map) and then you flip it and put worst POI for current #1 team and best POI to #20 team for highest chance of comeback and be more competitive. For first game of any tournament teams get random POI

I would love this change to ranked...take all the RP for the team, add it up. Then make the team with the lowest RP in the lobby get first pick of where they drop. Have it happen roughly the same time as champ select. Pred 3 stacks with number 3, 8, 12 pred for example with always have last pick. The plat team thrown in that lobby goes where they are comfortable...i would love this.

contesting those teams would give you more exposure even if you die 20th every match. nobodys gonna watch a team dying in 17th on rotate from dome every game at least people would watch a contest
@mack9023 they won't be landing dome everygame now with this rule. And there still will be contest. Baro north and baro south will fight most likely and same with checkpoint.

A lot of the POIs are garbage. Some of the good ones are now bad because they were split like lava siphon and baro
contesting is one of the most fun things to watch at lan now i have to wait 3 minutes before a fight zzzzzzzz boring as fuck and now someones stuck on a shit 3 pill 1 building poi every game instead of late dropping like NAVI did in lan scrims or just straight contesting. NRG's car heist from optic in algs champs last year gatekeeping an early matchpoint optic win also would not be possible with this new system, overall this shit sucks and watching this draft scrim the last two days has been boring as fuck
the only teams this format helps are those that are too pussy to contest a good team for a poi. want to land lava siphon? work on your contest and slam whoevers dropping there so hard they have to consider dropping elsewhere. otherwise you dont deserve to land there
No contests massive L imo. Too stereographic: less room for creativity to gather points and jumpmaster skills become irrelevant.
