From a mathematical perspective, the brain of confusion is objectively better than the worm scarf. Worm scarf reduces 100% of attacks by 17%, while the brain reduces 100% of damage from 17% of attacks. Plus you get a crit strike boost and confusion on enemies. Brain is literally so good

Brain also gets increasingly more useful as you go to harder game difficulties. In legendary, even with worm scarf, bosses and basic enemies will often kill you in 1-3 hits without a full tank build. Brain of confusion can save you from being one shot or losing half your healthbar, and the confusion effect stops enemies like bats from swarming you or hitting you multiple times before you can react. Worm scarf is just outclassed
Rng is what absolutely fucks your opinion, if you tank more attacks instead of completely negating that one slime hit, you'll have a better time

Hallowed is meant to look like that, it IS a force for good... it exists for the sole purpose of killing the world evil. its not even in and of itself, it just can't tell that the player is on its side...

I like how if you mine out around an entire crimson biome, it looks like a gross monster is just embedded into your world, with its feet acting like roots, or more like it sprouted out of the ground.
Mining out corruption is like popping zits with all the water filled bubbles in its deeper layers.

scourge of the corruptor is a great melee weapon for large groups and can shred duke fishron easily but vampire knives are still really useful
Yeah I haven’t really used it that much in any playthroughs and the vampire knives are a classic
If you want the items from duke fishron early, scourge of the corruptor is not available before you defeat plantera...
Did a recent playthrough as tank in master mode with friends. I've found vampire knives are more useful as a secondary because of the healing aspect, but they don't do good damage and the range penalty is extreme, making them a good way to get back to full in the middle of a bossfight while you have potion sickness.

i usually pick corruption for the scourge, im not sure if they nerfed vampire knives but i remember i tried them in 1.3 and they couldnt even one hit a skeleton, plus im cursed to always have way too many healing potions so i kind of like the corruptons dungeon chest better

Not really it's more like a 17% chance of not taking 100 damage with the brain or only taking 83 of 100 damage with the scarf in the end though it's just a matter of what you prefer

@@isaacjustisaac9738 it really is just preference, because i'd rather take a guarantee 17% damage reduction than a 16% chance of dodging, a side effect that gets obsolete in hardmode, and a 10% increase crit rate for 4 seconds, on top of that, the dodge also have a cooldown

I don't think the Hallow is specifically evil per se. It's job is to be a guardian since the previous guardian, the Wall of Flesh, is dead. It's simply there trying to defend the world until a new guardian can be found.
Brain of confusion IS rng based, however the dodge happens at basically the same rate as the scarf protects. However, taking damage restarts your regeneration, while dodging keeps your regen going while providing invincibility frames. The ability of confusing enemies which can be helpful, and the dodge is vastly more useful against daytime EOL.

From my experience the worm scarf helps a lot of times against stronger enemies where white would one shot you but then the scarf kicks in leaving you on that little bit of health allowing for you to heal from the nurse, touch some honey or just use a hea,ING Potion
Yeah some Reddit dude compared the two and the brain comes out on top. Not only on average does the dodge prevent the same amount of damage but dodging > DR because you skirt the negative status effects. An argument can be made that brain might trigger less due to rng but the same can be said for it triggering more.
In calamity, hallowed ore appears after the mechs.
I haven’t played many mods, but that’s good design imo

Everyone who's played calamity knows it's the astral infection, but corruption comes close second
It kinda sucks that both crimson and corruption orbs don't feature a summoning weapon
the flying knife is an extremely underrated weapon especially in harder difficulty. It allows you to easily attack enemies from behind protection and outputs surprisingly good damage against the mechs. I would rate it above the bagnakhs because they are only really good long after you get them because just don't have enough survivability to effectively stand inside a boss.

I find the flying knife annoying and honestly pretty underwhelming, after doing a melee only playthrough of for the worthy, I can officially say that I still do not understand the appeal of the flying knife. It’s just too inconsistent, and doesn’t really do anything special. Other melee weapons you can get around the same time are just plain better. Yes, the flying knife has long range, piercing damage that can be fired from behind cover, but those roles can respectively be filled better by other weapons, like shadowflame knife for range, drippler crippler or dao of pow for piercing, and yo-yo for safety.
@@supersonicfan6404 Yeah but the flying knife is basically a better yoyo if you think about it, and unlike yoyos at that stage, has good pierce. Therefore, you add a flask as well as frost armor and mamga stone for insane crowd control and debuff stacking. Also Unlike yoyos, this has infinite range, only limited by the size of your monitor basically. I understand what you say, but this weapon is basically a Jack of All Trades, taking good safety, good pierce, and great range and dps all in one weapons.
Hallow is the least evil world evil cuz npc’s can live in that biome. Also I like the blue grass and colorful trees so I like hallow the best~

In my opinion the Musket and the Undertaker cannot be compared well, because Undertaker, though having less DPS has more room for error.
According to terraria lore, the crimson is a hive mind with the sole purpose of restoring balance to all life, so i do think the gorey theme fits it well
I my opinion the flying knives are underated. Firstly they can Pierce infinitly making them good for destroyer or crowds, secondly it allows you to attack in area you can get to. Thirdly it's long ranged which tbh true meele is bad in hard mode just because you'll just die. Finally the knives can light up stuff I think? Edit: you also need tanky gear to even use fetid without dying fast and getting those can be annoying. Anyway knivess are second fetid is last unless you wanna waste time just to die from plantera, this is my opinion you don't need to hate but you can comment your opinion.

While the Vile Thorn is better as its own weapon than the Crimson Rod, the Crimson Rod serves a more unique purpose of damage over time, especially to large bosses or for blocking off tunnels, making it a good fire and forget utility weapon, even for non-mages. I think the Crimson Rod is therefore more useful overall, but it's really not a fair comparison considering they serve vastly different purposes.
Ok but the Soaring Insignia is actually broken in the endgame.

@@carterplaysgames WOW that was a quick reply. I’m mainly talking about the post-ML ranger when I say it’s broken. Normally Vortex Armour’s stealth mode increases your damage by a lot but slows you down to a crawl. When flying with the Soaring Insignia, you bypass the slowdown, effectively adding >80% to your damage output without consequences.

Instead of Hallowed Armor what should be considered is the Crystal Assassin Armor, coming from Queen Slime (so basically every evil biome boss that isn’t EoL has armor you get from it as you need the Shadow Scales or Tissue Samples to craft Shadow/Crimson Armor).
I mean hallow is technically a world evil but since npcs do like to live there i don't actually consider that, however i will still take the astral infection of calamity mod because heck you, it's a nice biome, 3 bosses(one of which was removed), music i could loop for hours, and cool things all around
What I'm saying is compare these 3 to modded world evils

I have to disagree on the brain of confusion. The dodge chance is quite good and the extra crit chance + minion damage is powerful. The confusion itself is the least powerful but it can be somewhat useful. Overall it's about on par with the worm scarf I'd say.
Its better on higher difficulties when you can just get one shot
It's actually better than the worm scarf since eventually dodging becomes better than taking less damage, and because they have the same 17% chance the overall damage reduced is the same, however the brain also has a confusion chance, so I would say it's better.
Frankly, I just want them both to spawn by default, they're both cool.
Tbh i like vids where author says "for me". Not simply "this is just better". It makes the whoe thing a private opinion instead of a rant how one thing is better. Everyone has own opinion. More people should try to make their vids in the subject like this.
In my playthrough i chose random and got corruption. In master i'm going to give crimson a try, but in hardmode on of the first things i'm going to do is add a corruption biome. But, i heard music of the both bioms, and say: only that making corruption is a bit better, but i prefer a GFB instead anyway

brain of confusion is almost objectively better than worm scarf as it has a 16% chance to dodge which is just a very slightly less rng based worm scarf. assuming rng is average, the other two abilities are worth the -1% damage reduction (4HP at max health) trade off. the first other ability is increased critical strike chance by 10% for 4 seconds after dodging. the crit chance goes up by 10% for 4 seconds which is already worth the -1%. the next ability is a 60% chance to confuse enemies for 1.5-5 seconds. the chance and duration also grows with the amount of damage taken (ex 100 damage is 100% chance + 2.05-5.83 seconds). this is very helpful throughout the run. theres been a lot of times at the jungle or dungeon where theres a lot of enemies doing a lot of damage that im able to easily simply cause they stop attacking me for a few seconds.
I could argue that the band of star power as a material is quite good for mages like for the celestial magnet and the magic cuffs but is not as versatile as the panic necklace

non of the drops matter to me as someone who mains melee (shadow flame knife carry)
however though crimson's flesh knuckles beat out the putrid scent in every way
while the guns (dart rifle/under taker (crimson)) (*i forgor the name of the corruption dart weapon*/musket (corruption)) i'd go with the corruption drops, daedalus storm bow wins (you expected something else?)
for the melee weapons i'd actually go for the flying knife mostly cuz it can go through blocks and i can aim it pretty far i'll go as far as saying it's underrated
the bosses hallow wins both in drops and in the fight over all
i'd also go for the biome's envioroment to hallow because of how it feels fitting more with itself than the other 2

Top video however i belive crimson dart pistol beats the corruption dart rifle the usefulness of these weapons depend on the type of dart rather than the weapon itself so ichor darts can fill the role of support and single target dps while the cursed strive on crowd dps and then there are the crystal darts which also thrive on crowd dps making the cursed one abit useless

Hallow: I don’t use any of its weapons, and I hate unicorns and fairies as well as all things shiny and flashy. It’s also the home to my least favorite boss. Ugly glitter fiend.
Crimson: By my standards, the loot is sort of good, but I’m not a fan of everything else this absolutely horrific, grotesque world parasite has to offer. Well, I actually do like the music, but that’s it. So long, flying lobsters.
Corruption: The Corruption is easy to navigate, has preferable weapons, and it’s the most nostalgic. The only downside is its tendency to camouflage against the pure stone. Purple and grey are difficult for me to distinguish.
try seeing which evil spreads faster by making huge triangle of stone and placing one on each side and see which spreaded the mosy

people sleep on the brain of confusion, cannot name how many times that thing has saved my life. With lower defense loadouts it shows itself to be far more useful than the worm scarf, damage reduction is great and all but 17% reduced damage doesn't mean as much when you die in 2 or 3 hits anyway.
As a summoner this is incredibly wrong
The scarf helps you making you barely survive a powerful attack thus giving you a chance to heal

was never arguing its BETTTER per say, it's just on par. when you do the numbers it negates about the same amount of damage, and when you're playing summoner in master mode ftw like me, half of the enemies in hardmode will one or two shot you with or without the scarf
just a note to mention, with 1.4.4 the crimson rod's duration was increased to 5 minutes, and it no longer interferes with immunity frames of other weapons. its a fantastic support weapon now

The brains creepers deal 20 contact dmg and have 100 hp and 10 defense defense reduces dmg by half the def rounded down meaning that each attack from a worm segment will deal 17 to 6 dmg depending on the segment (head does 17 body does 8 tail does 6) the head has a Defense of 2 body 5 and tail 8 so if the creepers only attack the body then they will deal 18 per attack while only taking 8 dmg each segment has 150 hp meaning 6 creeper hits kills 1 segment so killing 1 segment will take less than half of a single creepers hp meaning the creepers could kill around 45 of the worms 67 segments leaving 22 segments left to kill the brain the brain has 14 Def meaning that all attacks dmg is reduced by 7 for him so each segment will deal 15 to 4 dmg with 6 being body segments and the brain has 1250 hp without creepers and deals 30 contact dmg so if each worm segment has 150 hp it takes the brain 4 hits to kill a segment that means that each segment killed will only deal 60 dmg to the brain IF all the hits are only from head segments which they won't be and that's excluding the brain hitting the worm before the creepers die so explain how the worm wins this

You forgot the fish, corruption gives ebonkoi which is a straight damage buff, while crimson gives hemopiranha which is critical chance. Hallow gives pristine which increases max health.
i think hallow is the best, idk how the maths on the items works, so i cant really make a case on that, but i think looking at the environment category, the placements are so wrong.... the corruption, the best??? like sure the corruption is the best fit for an evil biome in concept, but in execution it lacks thematic clarity and creativity, i MUCH prefer the crimson's gore concept over the corruptions generic concept, and i think the concept of the hallow is masterful, the idea of an "evil" biome that isnt really evil at all but threatens to destoy the world for the goal of "purity" is so amazing, the crimson and hallow are so thematically strong that putting the corruption anywhere but last makes no sense,

yeah, i've personally found crimson to be more enjoyable. ichor is powerful, crimson rod is good passive damage, and you can still get corruption in your world if you have your dryad in a grave yard. percentile damage reduction versus occasional damage negation, kinda prefer brain.
What about the music? Very important category to take into consideration

not to get nerdy but the brain of confusion is accually better because it has the same % of damage nulifyed (83% i think) but dodging an attack compleatly as well as confusing the enemy makes it better.
I think the brain of confusion is a great accessory.
The dodge mechanic is super useful, as this accessory can be acquired decently early on. Dodging can be super useful, especially in master. It has saved me from huge damage multiple times.
Also, the confusion mechanic isn’t that bad. I’ve found that it can cause many enemies on your screen to walk in the opposite direction, saving you from enemy fire for a few seconds, allowing you to escape out of bad situations. The confusion mechanic isn’t that great, but it can still be useful in certain situations. Consider it as a bonus to the already good dodge mechanic.
The brain of confusion is actually a good counterpart to the worm scarf, and shouldn’t be thought of as bad. I’m not saying that it is better than the worm scarf automatically, I’m just saying that it should be considered more.
Yeah I guess I never really use it in playthroughs and still think of it as the pre 1.4 version
