Alec Steele Blacksmith 2020 - Zábava
Alright, when does Alec's dad get to show off a project, 'cause I'd be down for that too.
A father/son collaboration would be amazing. Masters of wood and metal on one project 👌
Yeah ! I'd love a video like that too!
Definitely! He seemed really awesome and a joy to listen to
That would be so cool I would defo be waiting for this video.
If this doesn't happen I might actually cry.
Please do a crossover with your dad, bring wood working and blacksmithing together.
Handle
Beat idea ever!
I think another katana is in order. His father can make an ornate Saya(sheath), handle and Stand while alec makes the blade and guard.
How amazing would it be to have that for the rest of his life? Alec will forever have a collaborative item that was the culmination of both skill sets. An Heirloom that can be passed down to future Steele's.
I think something simple would be a good start. Something like a shillelagh with a damascus cleat would be a quick but very interesting project.
@@lyulf0 this needs to happen
Alec: "Hey Will I'm checking out some new power hammers to buy!"
Will: "Too soon Alec... too soon."
Who's Alex? Haha
@@scottthompson8310 opps LOL aaand EDIT
👗😂😂😂
Alec: "I think I need an induction heater" - me: "I really need Alec to have an induction heater" :D
When Alec's dad was talking about that garden bench project, when he said he would make one "to my own design", the cadence of his voice and body language really shows where Alec got his!
He looks like a lovely gentleman and it is apparent he taught Alec to appreciate having a craft.
I remember when Alec was a tiny wee smith, his dad said to me that he thought it was time he moved on from making hammers, well I think he has managed that with all the help he has had from mum & dad and the Norfolk blacksmithing community. Well done Alec . You can show your new wife and dog Scolthead Island
You could see the joy on his father's face when talking about his craft. So amazing to see!
I wanna know more about him and his work!
So father so son. 😉
He's wearing the signet ring Alec made him too.
Ya I wish I can watch one of his project man I'm down for it
He needs his own channel!
8:02 when you said "this is going to be ash" I thought you were going to burn it, made me chuckle
You've no idea what a blessing it is to have a childhood home to return to with parents there to welcome you. To have a sense of roots.
When the guy answered the door with a hot piece of steel in his hand.
yeah, that was cool
That amused me.
Nigel's workshop was really cool!
I loved the art objects he made from the rail tracks.
I call it "prepared". Prepared to keep working, prepared to see off undesirables such as snake oil salesman, prepared to drop red hot steel in someone's bucket of water because the kettle on the blink and they want a cuppa.......... ok I know I'm getting ridiculous now.
Father Steele is so wholesome! Would love to see a collaboration making some kind wood and metal sculpture!
I hope Alec also helps Will to find a new power hammer. He deserves it!
We’ve met your Dad. Now this is a serious relationship you have with us all Alec.
Scratch the forging, I want to see alec’s dad making stuff!
Does he have his own channel, I wonder? :P
@@blazingeek I'd subscribe instantly.
He could have videos of nothing but him describing what he's built - I don't care. Instant sub and share.
@@terdsie I'd be happy even with a segment in some episodes on this channel. Just to get to know more about him and his work... :)
Yes, I would love to see Alec and his dad do some woodworking and blacksmithing!

Already talkin with the kilos and the bloody hells. He is back in his roots.
He's looking at a german powerhammer. Of course it's measured in intelligent ;D

Funny to hear people talk about the "old" workshop. For me the old workshop was the wooden shed with the dirt floor in Norfolk
3rd episode in the UK and Alec’s already dropping “bloody hells”.
This Yogo channel has a lot of needless metal content.
🤣 🤣 🤣
The "yogositsonthings" channel
Alec, your dad needs his own channel, I want to see some more of his work!
Now I understand where Alec gets his maturity. Having a father of his age and wisdom he possesses makes for a pretty cool son.
I’m glad you mentioned Will’s power hammer. That video was absolutely heartbreaking. It would be awesome to see it resurrected.
Anyone else notice his dad had the ring Alec made him?
Didnt even notice and now I cant unsee it lol.
I did!!! Wow, that was the first thing I thought of when I saw his father..!!
Pretty cool!!! I’m still waiting for him to show us his wallet he made right before he moved to Montana 🤷🏻♂️
At this rate Alec is going to become a world class power hammer restorer.
And I bet he does more than just a Tear down and paint job. To restore the power hammer.
You mean like the restoration of mr Pilkerton? The easy fix of bending an airplate straight? That power hammer restore? ;)
And when the next gen of blacksmiths needs to restore a power hammer we'll be seeing alec
Just don't let Will move it around on a pallet jack.
@@MichaelSteeves booo to you
I had a feeling right when that power hammer broke that Will was gonna try and fix it at fireball tools. Ahhhhhh that makes me happy to hear! I was thinking some sort of routed cavity in both ends and inserting a chunk of steel almost like a square dowel, then welding it all strong.
Hell, find some original blueprints and make one from scratch.
I thought the same a central tenon joint with a heavy chunk of steel, welded into the base and wedged into the broken off piece. But then braze the crack with brass or bronze.
seeing you in your fathers woodworking shop was awesome. I'd love to see you spend a day woodworking with him. it really shows where you got your eye for detail and fitment from just what little he shared :)
He said, we get to restore another power hammer... and all I could think of was poor will.
Any update on Will?
@@lostgenius watch the video all the way through for your update
@@spencerhallenbeck228 thank you
Is it just me or did Alex revert back to a stronger British accent
Easily done when you're back in the place you come from. Especially given that all things considered Alec has only spent a small part of his life in the States thus far.
Es normal que el acento vuelva a la normalidad cuando esta en su país. El oído te hace hablar tal como escuchas hablar.
It happens even if you live somewhere with a totally different accent and return 'home' after a decade to some people. It's hilarious if you meet up with friends who never left and speak to them first without hearing them speak.
I sound like a hillbilly within a week when visiting family in Arkansas. And I was raised in Northern California.
@@ronjones-6977 haha yeah I’m like that too. I’m from Dallas but when I’m around folks that a country twang it comes out of me instantly
I really appreciate how he's dealing with the ad spots. His 30s/1min ads plus 1 or 2 CZcams ads is an awful lot nicer than being hit with 5 ads for the same length video on another channel.
Your dad is brilliant! Been a sub for roughly 6yrs and I've never seen him till now. So awesome to see remarkable craftsmanship handed down from father to son! I restored a 1967 Ford Galaxie with my dad...a quality father is a priceless blessing!
Cheers!
oh no... he has to restore ANOTHER powerhammer? I wish you the best Alec
when it says 15 seconds on the clock and 20 views:
"oh huh" "ooh big hammer"
Echoing the below, a Father-Son collaboration is needed, so nice to see such a proud dad and would be super interested in his own version of said garden bench!
It’s cool to see the signet ring you made for your dad a while back.
Your father seems so lovely, and quite the talented craftsmen you both are!
Your Dad seems like an amazing craftsman and a lovely chap! It would be fantastic if he was in more videos! Maybe collaborate on something together?
Oh and congrats on getting your old shop back, that's a bit of luck! Very special.
We need a Steele vs. Steele project!! AND, SO AWESOME he’s wearing the Signet you made for him!!!!! Your dad is a good dude, in that he encouraged you to learn all these trade skills and such. He’s the type of father I strive to be.
I feel honored to have met Mr.OG Steele. He needs his own Channel. Steele vs. Steele
Alec Steele episode VI - Return of the Pilkington!

Two episodes within 24 hours Let's goooooo!!!
This is no longer a forging channel: it's a powerhammer restoration channel xD Great video, as always, thanks! And welcome to Vlad the Smasher ;) PS: Your dads work is gorgeous!
So sad Will is going to need to be looking after that last episode I cried 😂 when it hit the G
if you watch the video, he's going to try and repair it. one of his buddies maybe the one that cast the anvil for him?? probably messaged him and said nah man we can try
1:53 wow that press must be like 6 feet high compared to Alec :D
Your father is a charming fellow, and apparently, quite the craftsman; that slack-back double Windsor chair is absolutely beautiful!
What an amazing family of artisans! Cherish your father Alec, I lost my dad four years ago and I miss him every single day. We used to work on lots of wonderful projects together.
Alec you're driving through central London - I'm assuming - during a national lockdown. It will literally never ever be that easy again you big girl's blouse :)
Think he got used to big open Montana roads and driving on the wrong side 😂
Also now we are post first lockdown London is worse than before for traffic. But the tube is almost empty!
His old highchair. Just hanging there. Right where he can see it. I think Alec's dad is dropping a hint he wants some grandkids.
The sound of a thousand thousand wives crying out in anguish! "See honey! It DOES make sense to keep old stuff around just in case it might be useful again!" Brilliant work as usual. Thanks for bringing us with on the story!
A beautiful moment with your father. My father was a contractor and died unexpectedly and I miss him. I was happy to see your father. Hug him for us all!
Word to the wise: when transporting heavy cast iron equipment, be sure to secure the load.
Will said thanks for the advice.
@@ronjones-6977 My heart went out for Will when I saw it, but with perspective as powerhammer accidents go, this was one of the good ones: no one died, no one lost a limb or an eye or a chunk of skull, no one was injured, nothing was broken that can't be repaired or replaced, and it was caught on tape so it's a teachable moment and part of Will's epic struggle.
I guess I'm too late to get in on the 100% slot for the pool betting on how much of the powerhammer Will replaces with new parts.
It was a heart wrenching thing to watch. But yes it could have been worse for Will. He did almost make the mistake of getting underneath it when it fell off the pallet. That would have been very bad if he had. Stuff can be replaced, lives can not.
and don't use a palette truck for top-heavy loads, on uneven surfaces :(
I've done this before with much lighter loads, and saw that coming a mile off...
Talk about rub it in, wills watching this with tears in his eyes still 😢
I don't think he could have said 'power hammer' more and seen more power hammers if he tried.
And then made up for it in the end bit. A little guilt maybe?
From what Alec said Will is well past the tears stage. Can't WAIT to see the repair plan.
We need to see Alec and his Dad collaborate on a project! I can already see the lifetime of experience in his dad's work and would be amazing to see the different material worlds meet into something epic.
it's lovely to see alec's father to be a good woodworker
and his son to be a good metalworker
makes me wonder what their grandson will be master at
Poor Will 😓 watching his power hammer fall and break was so rough!!!!
I saw that the name was "Power Hammer Hunting" and I thought it was gonna be Will getting over his disaster. But no, its Alec getting one for his UK workshop
thanks for not yelling at me at 3:55 - appreciate it!
Absolutely love seeing you back in the UK, Montana looks awesome but something nostalgic about the UK scenery and weather. And your dad seems like a really nice guy just from the wee bit we saw there. Feel good video!
Feel like there is an Ironwood joke in here somewhere with this family...
Most underrated comment I've seen lol
I know of someone else who needs a new power hammer...
Too soon 😉😳
Yeb I wish he get good one
This is why I need to get better at woodworking and get started blacksmithing, so my kids can have a Dad that makes things.
Seeing your dads work answers any questions about where your talent came from. His woodwork is beautiful.
The Russian power hammer should be called "Vlad the Impactor".
Wouldn’t it have to be Romanian to have that name ?
Very good Thad Wilson.
A bunch of Russians and Romanians are pissed off right now
To go from driving in Montana to one of the biggest metropolises in the world. Oof. Feels bad man

It feels like traveling back to 2016 seeing you back in the UK and seeing that bit of your father's workshop that we got to see in the katana videos. Can't wait to see more! Fantastic!
Alex, glad to see you going back home. My favorite part of the vlog was you visiting your dad's workshop and seeing where your talents came from.

Strong competition from Alec's Dad, Alec Steele, would be Alec's Dad Wood? Hmm, maybe he could just narrate all the things...
Father and son collaboration is needed Alec! Get it done!
The best part of this video was hearing that Will is going to fix his hammer. I'm happy to hear he's not giving up.
Ask Will nicely and maybe he can break one up and ship it to you in pieces.

Too soon! ☺️
If you name it after Vlad the Dragon, it requires a dragon motif.
It really satisfied my soul when I saw your father wearing the signet ring you made him.... he must be extremely proud of his son.
Alec!!! I did my year 10 work experience with Nigel at Fransham Forge!! He was good friends with my grandad, Harold Wilkins. It’s so good to see his forge again.

@@Sacha3861 Yeah, most old Russian tools were seriously over engineered. They almost seem to have been built with the mentality that if the original purchasers great grand children hadn't died of old age before the tool's finally worn out, then they failed as a manufacturer. :D

Regarding durability, in Poland we have one saying that refers to the quality of Soviet machines.
When something is made very durable, we say: "гнется, не ломается".
And this is probably the only saying that when used we say it in a foreign language.

Hi Alec,
Good to see you doing some nostalgic trips back in the UK.
That was also good to hear Will has been talking to Jason on fixing his power hammer. I hope that works out well and it lives on for a long time.
Love the dog, fantastic companions.
Got the perfect project for Alex and Dad can work on. A wicked sea chest, with interior compartments but also incorporating hand forged hardware and a lock!
I love the feel and vibe of the back home series. It's a fresh start that feels familiar and a reset. I'm sure it feels like it did when you first started with the excitement and possibilities. I loved watching your father because it tells us a bit more about you and where your attention to detail came from not to mention I'm a woodworker myself lol.
So happy we are back to getting multiple videos a week again. It’s so nice to have you back in the same shop!
That wood workshop was beautiful!!
Loved to know your dad. Consider doing a series with your dad doing that garden chair, he seems to be an amazing artisan and would be really cool to see how your dad would do that chair. Really got me with the shrinking wood part! Never know mr steel could be the next Alex steel ;)
Alec is so big now even Vladimir The Impaler is offended he doesn't know him @5:50
I love it that your dad is using an old Workmate for his mortising. Brilliant
Anyone else want to see some videos of Alex’s dad making that bench? That sounds like a great father son project, if he would want to collab on it. Especially on that third one he plans to make! Imagine the masterpiece that could be made with a blacksmith and a carpenter working together!
Loved the insight of your father’s workshop. So cool!!
That was really awesome to see your father doing his wood work. It would be absolutely amazing to see you and your father working on a project together. I lost my father to cancer some time ago and watching this really warmed my heart 😁. Thank-you so much for such a great video Alec👍
Really special to meet your dad and see his shop and see where you started your career.
First thing to be forged on a soviet power hammer has to be a sickle. Dad is a legend.
MAN is it amazing to see so much familiar stuff again!! Including the road to London by the way. Did I ever tell you my first ever experience driving on the other side of the road just had to be from the very heart of London to your shop? Yes, I was scared.
I find it extremely refreshing to follow such a positive and through and through decent chap. You so deserve your success. You treat the people around you with such respect. 👌💯❤️
So awesome to see your dad's talents showcased ! You can certainly see where you get your attention to detail from 🤘
REALLLLLY ENJOYED the workshop tour!!! That was so cool to see all those amazing and unique machines!
Your father have a voice of a storyteller, so comfortable and relaxing... It could be fun if you got some project with him on YT, and combined the art og tree and iron😍
Happy Saint Eligius Day! Good to hear Will is considering fixing that frame. I've had some good luck welding cast iron, (although nothing quite that big) and if I lived in the same country wouldn't mind giving it a go.
As much as Alec's dad is a total bright point in my day... the idea of Will fixing the power hammer is my 2020 highlight, hands down. If we can reverse the "NOOOOOOO" I'll be elated!
Man, your dad seems like a very cool and wonderful gentleman, and a hell of a craftsman in his own right. Would love to see more of him on the channel.
When that packrat instinct bears fruit! Will be some nice memories made using the old forge again with the new skills and perspective. Nice to hear the update that there is hope for Will. Looking forward to seeing Will and Jason at Fireball Tools can do some wizardry!
