  • How long can you be in a caloric deficit before metabolic adaptations become permanent? Tools like reverse dieting, diet breaks and refeeds will determine as well as your goals. Metabolic damage is a term that is misused.

Paul, when you trained for competitions, how did you keep your mind focused? For example, did you have calendars all over your house with the date of the competition circled?
The reason I'm asking is because though I don't compete, I'd like to be 'cut'. Unfortunately (and I can't be alone here) I sometimes find myself on a roller coaster. The extremes aren't significant, but dizzying nonetheless.

Someone help me pleaseeee, im so confused. So this is what im doing right now: Before, during my bulk, I ate 1,500 calories a day. 2 weeks ago I started my cut, eating 1,150 calories a day + doing cardio on an empty stomach. ( burning around 400 calories ) Am I putting myself in a caloric deficit? If not, someone please teach me how I can.
Im 13 years old, 5'4, and weigh 116 pounds. I lift 6 times per week and dont play sports anymore. I do occasionally swim and like i said I have been doing cardio every morning for about 2 weeks now. I lost alot of water weight but thats about it, no fat loss in my face and barely in my chest and stomach region.

So I'm eating 1500 calories a day and I weigh 153lbs, my goal weight is 148 so I'm not too far from it. Once I reach that weight and I'm happy with it how do I maintain my new body physique and weight? Like do I stop the calorie deficit or what cause I don't want to gain weight . I just don't know how many calories I should consume to take me out the calorie deficit to maintain that new weight

I've read that if you hit a wall and you're sure you're eating the right foods and resting enough that you can go up in calories instead of down and see if that works. The reason being is that your body might be getting used to the strenuous work and it needs just a bit more fuel, like 1 more fruit a day and 1 more protein too.
