- How long can you be in a caloric deficit before metabolic adaptations become permanent? Tools like reverse dieting, diet breaks and refeeds will determine as well as your goals. Metabolic damage is a term that is misused.
- Sport
You always do such a good job of making something complex understandable in layman’s terms.
Best compliment ever
? He didn’t answer the question 🤷♀️
Just wanna say thanks to you man, seeing your videos is keepin me on track on my fat loss regime. Love from India 💪
This is me! I was thinking this was the plan and you confirmed it. Thank you.
That was speaking to me! I am not trying to get shredded for a show although I wish, but for just everyday life.... thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to post these videos everyday!
It is one of the most genuine advise i heard in a social media platform. Definitely subscribing to you! Keep it up with the quality contents mate!
I appreciate that
I was in a caloric deficit but then went inside this place called Baskin Robbins.
My punishment was spilling chocolate ice cream on my white pants.
Worth it 🙌
Paul, when you trained for competitions, how did you keep your mind focused? For example, did you have calendars all over your house with the date of the competition circled?
The reason I'm asking is because though I don't compete, I'd like to be 'cut'. Unfortunately (and I can't be alone here) I sometimes find myself on a roller coaster. The extremes aren't significant, but dizzying nonetheless.
When you compete it’s easy because of the deadline excuses go away
He is my favorite you tuber and has been for a long time now! I wait everyday for his videos!
Thanks 🙏
This was so awesome! Thank you!
My favorite video you have ever made!
Wow why?
Thanks Paul, this video really encouraged me. Lifestyle it is...
Awesome
Thanks Paul - good video.
me rn....yawning all the time (i even yawned while doing title boxing) wanting to sleep more... cravings..time for a breaaak!!!
Thank you for the tip! Always gold contents
Awesome content as always Paul! I'm 2 months into it but haven't reached my goal yet. Losing 1 pound a week and have 5 more pound to go to be happy.
Keep it up buddy !! What was the update ?
Are you still cutting your calories and staying focused ?
I went into a caloric for 8months eating 1500 calories a day and lost 108 pounds but I developed anxiety and started overeating and gained 75 pounds back in the course of three months now after three months I’m going back into one and im going to be a lot more cautious
First to watch 😁 Paul please don't stop giving amazing content
Brief but great thanks!!!
LOVED this video!!
Finally I learnt too long long, took me a while guys but I finally learnt it :))
Good advice Paul liking the vids!! think 1 refeed is needed a week as getting very lean and can feel it in the joints. Shoot in 2 weeks so will cut out that refeed for peak weak
Simply the best content. Great job, Paul!
Wow appreciate that
Great advice Paul!
Glad you enjoyed

I’ve been In A deficit for like 6 months. It’s so slight though (2-250 daily) cals because if I push any harder I get fatigued.
Someone help me pleaseeee, im so confused. So this is what im doing right now: Before, during my bulk, I ate 1,500 calories a day. 2 weeks ago I started my cut, eating 1,150 calories a day + doing cardio on an empty stomach. ( burning around 400 calories ) Am I putting myself in a caloric deficit? If not, someone please teach me how I can.
Im 13 years old, 5'4, and weigh 116 pounds. I lift 6 times per week and dont play sports anymore. I do occasionally swim and like i said I have been doing cardio every morning for about 2 weeks now. I lost alot of water weight but thats about it, no fat loss in my face and barely in my chest and stomach region.
So I'm eating 1500 calories a day and I weigh 153lbs, my goal weight is 148 so I'm not too far from it. Once I reach that weight and I'm happy with it how do I maintain my new body physique and weight? Like do I stop the calorie deficit or what cause I don't want to gain weight . I just don't know how many calories I should consume to take me out the calorie deficit to maintain that new weight
And to think i had stayed in a deficit for one whole year... No wonder i was spinning my wheels for 9 months straight...
Dragoonistiri that’s exactly where I’ve been too!
thank you for this!
Well said pal great video on the matter
Thanks
Dear Paul, thank u very much for ur informative videos. I m from India.
Welcome 🙏
Helped a lot 👍🏽
Idk if I’m loosing fat now I didn’t loose a pound in a month and tbh idc about loosing weight I just wanna loose the last layer of fat, should I be on a deficit or no plss help
I mean I’m trying to lose 60 pounds in a summer cake here to see my goal is wayyyyyyyyy harder than i expected, and I expected a tremendously difficult challenge
Ok but what is too long now haha? I take regular diet breaks etc and I’ve been in deficit for 16 weeks now. Losing weight slowly and wouldn’t mind another few weeks of deficit but when is it just too long?
Thanks 😊
We got Rick Rolled with the click bait title 😆
So i have a question, I was cutting in a deficit for about 9 weeks and then had a week of bad eating and eating over my calorie maintainence and gained some fat, i originally planned to cut for 12 weeks but i’m approaching my 12 weeks and am not where i want to be. How much longer should I keep cutting?
So, what's the answer?
Must agree i took my time ate 2100-2200 tracked. Took alot longer ending up flicking between that defecit and a “maintenance” amount for around a year. But i never had any struggles such as being hungry all day and snacking all day
I remember gettin my calories down to 1400-1500 range for about 7 months but my reverse diet approach was wrong by increasing my calories too quickly
Just4commentchannel I had the same problem. I ballooned up 10 pounds in 3 months. Working on correcting it now.
How many calories was too much
I’m 185lbs 5’7 female. I have to be 165lbs for Air Force weight requirements ASAP. Sooo I think this would apply to me lol
Did u make it?
Where’s that intro song from? I know you said in another video comment that your videographer picked it...any way to find further details on the song?
Thanks Paul, chad got back to me. If anyone else ever asks, the song is called By Myself by Christian French & Triegy
Paul, I love your content, I really do, I just wish you could change your intro music.
I’ll redo it someday
@@PaulRevelia I like that intro music! Dont change it, trust me
Agree i always press skip for the first 30 seconds
i have a question: should i cut or reverse diet after 3 months dieting 1900 kcal day? i'm a male tall 5,67 weight 189,60 lbs at 17 percent body fat..i'd love to get down 13-15 body fat..sometimes i'm feeling very resticted, tired, craving things, sleeping not always well...diet worked out so far and still working.. i started out with 21 BF now i am 17 BF it was a very slow process cause the weight still pretty much the same all diet period but the fat goes down and body composition is changing... what do you think?
How’d the cut go
How has someone found their base calorie expenditure accurately?

Hi there. Big fan of your videos. I've been on an extreme caloric deficit since I started my weight loss journey due to lack of knowledge. I would like to recover from an extreme deficit and do it the right way of being on a 500 caloric deficit, but still continue my weight loss journey. How do i go about doing that? I hope I make sense.
Refeeds and diet brakes!
I gain energy through the day while I'm getting my meals in and wake up exhausted after my overnight fast. I train before going to work a 10 hr nursing shift. Something's gotta give. Trying carb loading today while I'm off work. My NEAT is in the toilet.
Paul I've been battling losing weight on and off since 2016... been trying to live in a deficit... went from 245 - 185 lbs and I havent gained any back but I still have tons of flabby body fat...
How can I shed the last 25 - 30% of body fat and am I skinny fat?
Eat meat alone
Meat ,salt and water alone !
Try the diet for 2 weeks !
Then plank you will un Earth the demon within!!
i took a year and a half to trim from a 34-35 inch waist to sub 27 inches
I agree so much, im guilty of that myself. Cutting for way to long on way to few calories and put fat back on without much calories. It’s hell to be super hungry and gaining fat on low calories. Taking time with few diet break is the only intelligent way.
How many calories can you safely add on a refeed without spill over ? Like when does it become a binge and cause more harm than good ?
Usually cals are not much higher but carbs go up by 50%
4-6 weeks seem to be norm for me, I’m not staying in a diet phase longer than without a break but everyone’s different
Yeah I listened to the whole video and didn’t hear the answer...
Andrew Gao. 3:15 mark.
So I did not now this. So I have been in a calorie deficit for 6 months. What should I do?
Diet break
Omg same- LMFAO
Thank u very much for your video! I have a problem, once I go on a caloric deficit, I start getting insomnia. I only need to lose 3 kg of fat, but so far I have been unsuccessful. Once I don’t sleep, I snacking at night in order to fall asleep. ( always works). But it makes me retain water and puts myself out of the deficit, even thought I never eat much at night.
dont eat at night.
Same
Has your insomnia gotten better? I’m having insomnia issues as well.
So, how long? Was the answer in there, cause i didnt get it.....
Until you start having complications
Bogdan Olaios 4-6 months / then start earlier mote for about 2-4 weeks at your regular calorie maintenance. Then start cutting/ calorie deficit again for another 4-6 months & repeat until desired weight goal/ body fat %.
Paul Revelia what are ‘complications’ ? And can u do a video on what to do after u ended ur calorie deflicit diet
I didn't hear one mention of a time frame. I guess you didn't really answer the question
Slow and steady wins the waist!
How too long long?
Is it the same for calorie surplus?
I’ve been on a deficit of eating 1900 calories a day since March and I’ve lost weight and lost body fat but since last month June I didn’t loose a pound and lost little body fat idk what to do now this week I lowered down a deficit and idk if I’m making progress idk what to please help
I think you just hit a wall, lowering a little more should do the trick. In my experience, you sometimes have to lower calories after a while to keep shedding weight. Then again, I'm not a dietician or doctor :p
I would follow the recommendations on the video since you’ve been in a calorie deficit for some time.
I've read that if you hit a wall and you're sure you're eating the right foods and resting enough that you can go up in calories instead of down and see if that works. The reason being is that your body might be getting used to the strenuous work and it needs just a bit more fuel, like 1 more fruit a day and 1 more protein too.
@@tonymaximilian3551 that’s one of Paul’s suggestions in this video. It’s called reverse dieting.
Sooooo where is the answer?
3:15 mark
Im 15lbs from being “normal weight” but i dont think ill like what ill look since being 15lbs over i still look pretty chubby
In my experience double what you think you need to lose. We underestimate how much fat we have for the most part
Anyone else read the thumbnail as "How Too Long Long"?
well now i did lol
@@PaulReveliagreat video btw. Just stumbled upon your channel recently and going down the rabbit hole!
Bro my god can you answer any more around about way
Bro 😎
More confused now than before
Oops
…I don’t think you ever answered the question…
He so pretty damnnnn
Hiii
You didn’t answer
Until you are exhausted from it, the more body fat you have the longer you can diet
@@PaulRevelia your Awsome you replied on a video years old. Thank you
did bro even say how long????
Indeed I did, until you stall despite continued changes
