I've been there to see John Candy, among others, including Ray Bolger, Bing Crosby, and Bela Lugosi, among others. It was my experience that the staff left you alone to wander the grounds, I presume as long as you are being respectful to the decendents. It's a beautiful and peaceful place to walk around in surrounded by a hustling, bustling city.
I have several family members buried there. My grandparents are buried not too far from Bing Crosby, Bela Lugosi and Rita Hayworth. Just on the opposite side of the grotto. Interesting about the staff asking people to leave….

John Candy was that BIG loveable guy, im a fan of his movies, theres so many, his health issues was getting worse in the late 90s i think he died in 1996.😢 So sad thanks for taking us a long for the visit his grave. May John rest in peace 🕊️🙏

John Candy starred in SO many great comedies when I was a late teenager/in my early twenties. One gag that always comes to my mind is actually in one of his more less known movies,Who's Harry Crumb.When he is confronted with a poisoned pen letter(letters stripped from newspaper to not show the culprit's handwriting) ransom note and told"Harry you haven't got a clue about this case" Harry Crumbs,AKA John Candy replies proudly" You find the typewriter that this ransom note was typed on and you've got your culprit" ABSOLUTE classic line and in the same vein as Laurel and Hardy,none offensive. VERY sadly missed and taken from us at a FAR FAR too young an age. No matter what faith a late entertainer had I as well as other people are greatful for the joy, in this case laughter, that they gave movie viewers like myself. God truly blesseded us when he gave us entertainers like John Candy.❤🙏😂🎥
When I was about 20 years old, I was kicked out of a creepy old mausoleum. I was admonished "This place isn't for sight seers!!" 40 years ago, Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn NY wouldn't let you in the gates unless you had a visitor's pass previously issued. That has all changed now.
I understand if the ban was for general louts hanging about and the prevention of vandalism but to visit ANYBODY'S grave especially an entertainer's one is to pay respects and to celebrate their lives. I have visited the actors' graves of Bill Owen and Peter Sallis beside each other in a churchyard near Holmforh, Yorkshire, England and I live in Northern Ireland. They started as Compo(Owen) and Clegg (Sallis)two pensioners in the world's longest running Sit Com filmed in Holmforth. UK viewers will be more acquainted with the Sit Com and actors I am referring to. I found the experience VERY humbling and nostalgic from a Christian's point of view.🙏

I can appreciate cemetery staff making vagrants feel unwelcome. The cemetery where my mother is interred has become a favorite place for car campers and vandals. Someone drove around the cemetery causing several graves to collapse under the weight of the vehicle. You could clearly see tire tracks as they spun tire down to the dirt. So now there’s several of us around the area who make sure people see us at the cemetery often and anyone who doesn’t belong get yelled at.
It's a 1 year since burt bacharach's death and he would have been 96 years old in May he's now buried at hillside memorial park culver city California and which section is burt's plot is I think it's the garden of Solomon the court of matriarchs the canaan or the garden of Rebecca
