The whole thing is an homage to the Disney Haunted Mansion. Geoff is portraying the Caretaker, Eli is Alexander Nitrokoff, one of the portraits in the Stretching Room, Cesar is Madame Leota, Lauren is Constance Hatchaway, the attic bride (she was filmed separately and did her own makeup), and Layne is the Hatbox Ghost. His head disappears from his neck and reappears in the hatbox he's carrying. The bookshelves are a nod to the Mansion's library of ghost stories, all four stretching portraits can be seen to the right, and the portrait in the middle is Master Gracey, the aging portrait from the Mansion's foyer. Also, Elizabeth Zharoff (aka The Charismatic Voice) provided some extra spooky background voices.
There is a behind the scenes that is on Rek Dunn's CZcams channel for This Is Halloween. He is the friend they did the tribute to at the end of Halo. IT. IS. HILARIOUS. There is a longer version on the patreon that will absolutely have you rolling. Turns out Layne is very ticklish and Rick really has him going while trying to get him in makeup. Well worth viewing.
They were SO good!! Lauren did a phenomenal job. When she says “are you in the closet” she looks so terrifyingly delighted to have found you! Another reactor noticed that when she sings “I can sense your horror”, her eyes are red! 🤯
Elizabeth Zharoff from the Charismatic Voice is credited with voiceovers. I’m guessing the high scream when Layne loses his head, as well as the eerie background, especially in the ghost sequence.
Elizabeth from the Charismatic Voice confirmed the high scream isn´t her, it´s Lauren. Elizabeth did the high voice in ghost sequence.

Yes! Voice Play is the go-to for all things Halloween! This was epic Halloween! Everything about it is spectacular! Am I the only one who would love to see a beatbox dual with Adam Rupp and Layne? Layne is brilliant with his sound effects and regular beatboxing. I thought Geoff looked like a creepy old man here. Lol Lauren’s voice is so pure and clear! Everyone went above and beyond here! I didn’t even spot the heads on the shelf next to Geoff! There’s so much to see and hear that it will take me a few more times to catch everything!
Great reaction. Love the shout out to Qofy! This is incredible & all made around Hurricane Ian delays. Their attention to detail and commitment to the bit are two of many things I adore about Voiceplay.

Great reaction!! Voiceplay does have Behind the Scenes, but they put out the Behind the Scenes for this one before they gave us the preview showing. I didn't think of QoFy until you mentioned him, good catch!!
They had another one planned for Halloween, but the featured artist had a conflict. I think it was already in production, if not finished. Layne put this one together. He had to fly to Nashville (half way across the USA) to film Lauren and then get back in a 24 hour turn around before Hurricane Ian hit Orlando.
I’m sorry but I just need to point out that Orlando, Florida isn’t half way across the USA to Nashville, TN. As we say in the south Nashville, TN is just a hop skip and a jump from Orlando, Florida. Which is actually 8-10 hour drive depending on the route and how many times you stop along the way to get there.
So much to see from Geoff as the grave digger with the lantern & shovel , Layne with the scary face , Cesar in the globe, Eli ? & Lauren with her absolutely beautiful voice & the furniture & carpet & the lighting affects & flying ghosts are all amazing.
Lauren paley is just perfect for this song. Kudos to them for working around a hurricane and once again owning Halloween
Lauren is known as the Stairwell Siren in the apartment building she lives in. Eli flew up to do the filming and audio of her and arrived back in Orlando just before Hurricane Ian hit. Lauren's voice in the stairwell is magic. Elizabeth of The Charismatic Voice did the voices for the background ghosts. Eli's outfit is very similar to Disney's Haunted Mansion.
They do BTS on Patreon! I think you have to be at the $5 tier? Someone can fact check me on that. But they released the BTS for this video in particular to all their patrons. It’s insane the amount of work that went into this one! Layne had to fly from Orlando to Nashville to film Lauren in 24hrs so he could get back ahead of Hurricane Ian. Tony did the puppeteering of Cesar’s floating crystal ball. And we discovered that Layne hates the feeling of having his face airbrushed with face paint. 😂
Yes they did do a behinds the scenes for this one. It came out about a week before because they were running a bit behind schedule due to IAN kinda taking over. Because I saw it first it just makes the video that much more WOW.
I knew Lauren Paley was good at the creepy stuff and the eerie voice... that's kind of her thing... but I am surprised by her sense of theatre and by how well she meshed with the guys, even doing the background vocals, some beatboxing and harmonizing brilliantly
You can tell they were having a blast.
And don't miss the painting of Eli in his striped boxers on the wall to his right.
Geoff's look reminds me so much of the guy at the beginning of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, the caretaker for the Riddle Mansion.
Geoff is the Caretaker, Layne is the Hatbox Ghost, Eli is the man from the poster in the stretching room and Cesar is Madame Fiona and Lauren is the Ghost Bride...all from the Haunted Mansion at Disney.
If you’ll notice, behind Eli there’s a portrait-you only get glimpses, but it’s likely him, also wearing the boxers. And at the end, that’s Geoff hitting a C#1. 👀

Normally, it’s only from a certain tier, 5 dollars I think, that you get access to the BTS for their videos. However, the BTS for this one is on Patreon for all tiers, because they didn’t have the video ready when they had planned to. All patrons got access to the BTS as a treat instead of the finished video. I can’t afford the higher tier, so I enjoy it so much when I get to see a BTS, it is so fun!!!

(edited updated) Ok found the original "Hide and Seek" is a song produced by Ho-ong-i, and performed by VOCALOID SeeU. It is sung from the perspective of a girl possessed by a malevolent entity who is playing a deadly game of hide-and-seek with a young boy victim.
the original is pretty good even if it is not in English. 2012 hide and seek ding dong (in Korean i think) the English version was done in 2014. or at least that is as far as i have been able to trace it back. it states it is the original version so until someone tells me different i am guessing it is.
Lauren Paley has a version of this in the stairwell defiantly worth the listen as well. if you have not heard her stuff done in the stairwell you are missing out.. it adds a naturally creepy effect

There's a video here or on tiktok of a duet between Lauren on one screen and all of Voice Play jammed into the other. The sound feels more produced than natural building acoustics could account for.
@@delord1619 find a concrete structure 5+ stories tall and go into the stairwell and try singing you will see its natural.. may need to move around a bit to get the effect you want but it is easy to test if you know a concrete stairwell

It’s Disney’s Haunted Mansion. If you return to the video and read comments I’m sure somebody will be explaining a lot more about who everybody is.
The setting for the video is the Haunted Mansion, with them all playing characters from that. The song itself though, has nothing to do with the Haunted Mansion, they just chose that as the backdrop, and I think it works well for this creepy little song.

I'd never heard this song and don't know Disney's Haunted Mansion so this came out of nowhere for me. I did go to the original song, which was computer generated, and also Lauren's solo performance of it, to get some idea of where it started. VP have certainly taken it to new heights, though it's less haunting that the original. Maybe that has to do with the speed of it. But it's a lot of fun.
