I really need to cut down my internet consumption, I don't have social media but I am addicted to mindless browsing and information consumption. This has been a much-needed video for me. Thank you.
I feel you bro..i don't use any social media too for last one and half year except CZcams..but i overdosed browsing infos and spending excess time in CZcams..it makes me tired. time to reduce things
Me too but trust me guys waiting for 2020 and thinking that you'll actually restrict internet usage is most likely gonna fail instead start it now at this exact moment and there are apps for android such as stay focused and appblock and for pc i recomended that you do not connect it to the internet
Same for me..I don't have any social media but I keep binge watching CZcams videos
I am straight up addicted to youtube....it's really bad because i work from home. Also, you can justify the endless consumption because you are "learning". We are curious creatures, its how we evolved, but that is being hijacked with modern technology. To be honest, i've never been more unhappy! And it's directly correlated with my addiction to the internet
Same, no social media, at least 20gb per day of CZcams and other consumption
well.. i'm 17 and one year ago i did the experience to live the full month of december without internet. it was the most helpful thing i ever did against my brain fog.
i finally realised how blinded i was because of social media and every thing that comes with it. after that mounth, i created and followed some strict rules to not fall in those old routines again. never went on twitter and reddit again. only instagram and youtube during the day and never at night.
the year 2019 was the clearest year i lived since that i use internet daily. and i'm kind of proud of it !
Good idea... I would surely implement it.
How did you fill your time without internet?
@@wardvanbever2790 i was bored AS F**K most of the time (especially, the first two weeks) but i buyed some book and started reading a lot, tried to see people as much as possible, and meditated every day.
but yes, it was boring, but not a waste of time.
mounth đ€Łđ of december
@@Gweny thanks
Yes not enough people are talking about this
your filmmaking is getting better every single video, Nath. you should be proud
Taieb Lemounes thank you :)
Yess I agree!!
Yeah!
For what it's worth, I think the most stupid word of the 21st century is 'productivity'. Everybody has to come up with a way of finding a value in their life that can't be measured in terms of output. Stop beating yourself up, ffs. Productivity is only something you have to do in order to earn enough money to live. After that, you just have to LIVE. I realise, of course, that the unexamined life isn't worth living, but examining your life isn't the same as constantly measuring your so-called 'productivity'.
Needed to hear this, thanks

@@ntgism696 Seconding this so much. Watched too much Jordan Peterson and skyrocketed my career while wrecking my health and relationships. In 2020 I'm gonna reevaluate what I want out of life and what brings me happiness. More time for and with family and friends, and most importantly, less stress.
@@ntgism696 wonderful!

The one thing I love about Nathan is his calmness which I don't see in anyone else literally... Like not even most people...

Truth
I felt the same way in the past 2 weeks. It's so complex the world we live in. The way I found a solution to situations like this is just stop doing everything and focus on the one thing that will give me most pleasure at that specific moment. Sometimes that one thing it's just "nothing". The combination of dopamine and "less" always gets me out of the information or whatever other kind of fatigue.
@@emmabunch-benson7922 absolutely! I get sick only when I pass.my limits. And it's weird how enjoying "nothing" brings so much productivity with it.
Yessss!!! Information fatigue is definitely a thing! Especially when it comes to media. We are constantly bombarded with facts, opinions, useless information, and highly relevant information, all rolled up together and being tossed at us at high speed. Sometimes it can get extremely difficult to have mental clarity and untangle all these thoughts to pick out what is actually valuable and necessary. The issue of mental clutter is getting more and more prevalent and will only continue to grow as a problem. Awareness is the key. Detoxing when we can from our devices and being more selective with what we take in can be extremely helpful. Mindfulness practices such as meditation, yoga, and spending time outdoors and nature can also aid in this. I recently did a video on this topic because it is becoming an increasing problem for many of my clients. Thank you so much for addressing this in such a powerful and relatable way. You are a true inspiration and I wish you nothing but continued success and happiness in 2020! Sending love out to this incredible community that you have created here. â„ïž
Brilliant video, something very recognizable yet so hard to fix. Especially when content creation is your job
so true
Iâve been dealing with brain fog for over a year now, and could never find the underlying cause until you mentioned our overconsumption of technology! Iâve literally never considered that fact because itâs become such an ingrained, second nature habit of ours. Thank you thank you
Absolutely everyone has moved on from Pokémon go... *nervous chuckle... of course haha

Thanks for being a CZcamsr that allows himself to put out less content to look after yourself... Very inspiring for a newbie like myself.

It makes me really happy that this isnât just another video telling everyone PHONE BAD BOOK GOOD. You actually put a lot of thought into this subject and it shows
Phones and books are kinda similar. Information flow wise. Writing books is a different story.

I totally agree with the fact that we are the ones responsible for the constant flood of information pouring over us and get stuck with life but it also comes from standards, we as a society sets to succeed (i don't follow that that idea at all). It's true what you said that we need to free up some space to think, to realize everything is under control, but to make it a "normal" criterion, more people need to understand that option, although we are on the way to make a change, and glad to see you are working towards creating that change. :) Great video!
I mean I agree too, I didn't understand like a half of this vid (because I'm Italian not because of you Nathaniel ;3) but at my age (14) i really don't know how to understand this fact, I'm the generation of technology and the ones that have all in their hands, we only have to understand how to use them. Hoping this is understandable. By guys
@@lorenzogardella897 I think I get what you meant. But I also think that particular idea or belief that "we have everything within our hands" is what creates the change of perspective. We are somewhat forced by the achievements of humankind to follow the thought that we have everything we need. And this barely includes any humane values or benefits rather than a sea of information floating around which we don't where to look into. And it's so normal to think that way since, that's the way the society teaches us. :)
@@SanjaySkar thank you for answer me, what you said is true sorry but now I don't have time to answer again to you. :(
This explains why we get so inspired when we are alone somewhere without an internet connection. Ideas appear when we are bored.
So true! đđŒ
Reading is the one thing that lets me put my phone down, cut down my screen time, and just be happy in the moment. My mental clarity gets bogged from too much screen time. I start to get anxiety. Such a great video Nathaniel. You da bestâ€ïž

Bro when I watch your videos I feel personally what you feel.
I appreciate your videos not being loud and abrasive. This feels genuine and thought provoking, I could actually am more in touch with my thoughts while watching these videos. It's not a moment that just passed away. I admire your documentary style storytelling. Always valuable and such a pleasant surprise in this day and age. Dude your literally a lot more wise than people much older than you. Proud to be your follower.
How can this be real ? Everytime i have to deal with difficult things or situations, Nathan always posts new videos and theyâre so helpful to me or a lot of us.
You're one of the best youtubers seriously. The contents you share on your videos are mind-blowing.
I was just browsing through youtube recomendations and found your stories where you was talking about how they could help to find new channels,so i decided to watch some of your vids.Turns out that ive never seem that kind of content before and it came in a much needed time! Thank you so much for sharing these words, you're doing an amazing job.
Thatâs completely true man. I feel the same way. Thank you for doing what youâre doing man. It really helps
A few months ago I actually tried to only watch one CZcams video a day and nothing else like Instagram and so on. That was just such an amazing time but unfortunately i kinda fell back to bingewatching you tube videos. Amazing video bro, this reminded me of how important it is to limit the social media useđkeep up the great work
Thank you for this video, Nathaniel. Recently I've been trying to keep up with all my present plans, build new plans, participate in everything that seems "useful" to me, even my free time became constant self-development in every aspect of life or reading and analyzing what I've read - and all of that was the reason why right now I can't think clearly and actually rest. You are not the only one with this feeling. However, only overcoming such important problems lets us grow. Stay strong and inspired, my dear friend!
The right message I needed exactly right know, giving more time to whats really important and live more in the present moment without additional information I don't need. Thanks Nathaniel
Thank you for indirectly telling me im not alone in this. I thought everyone else was more or less feeling very sure or clear of their thoughts. So im really grateful you made this video! :)
this brought me so much clarity, thank you so much. I couldnt quite put my finger on it, but I've been feeling information fatigue and I dont have to continue to choose these little destructive things. I appreciate you!!!
I resonate with this message so much. People say I'll rest when I'm dead, but you will do your work much more productively if you rest and take care of your well being. Thank you for sharing this man.
This is such an important message. Thank you, Nath. CZcams needs more content like this.
Your honesty is refreshing!
This is exactly how I was feeling today. This video was so on point. Constantly chasing that next info/motivational/life lesson high. When it's so simple and basic
Thanks for sharing this. Iâve been feeling the fog for quite some time now. Youâve just woken me up to be more conscious about the info I take in. đđŸ
Nate, this is amazing. This message is so similar to what I have been thinking on my own channel, but I think you shared it in a much clearer and optimistic way. Thank you so much for this! Much love, and lets all work on taking care of ourselves more.
How is it that almost every video of his seemed like it was made for me, it's as if they were designed to answer all of the questions and problems I've dealt with in my life? Thank you for making such high-quality, genuine, and intelligently-crafted videos. They have seriously cleared away some of the weeds growing in my mind, and have allowed me to plant new ideas :)
Agreed... Hello from cold and wet Ireland! âïžđȘđœđđđœâïž
Thank you so much for this video. Lately I had been realizing something similar happening to me. I am getting tired of constant usage of Social Media yet I feel if I cut down on it I will miss something important. Thank you for bringing up this realization that how important is it for to rest and reflect, no matter what.
Bro I've been feeling exactly the same lately. You seriously couldn't have uploaded this video on a better moment for me. Thanks mate
The message is so simple, id even say obvious yet it hit so hard .
Thanks nathaniel it was exactly what i needed
I feel like you are the honestiest content of self-improvement that I watch on CZcams. Congratulations for your work!
What I love about Nathaniel Drew videos is that theyâre fun to listen to and to watch. Keep up the great work!!
Iâm 14 and you as an adult giving advice to me is a big help when I feel like Iâm struggling with something I go to your channel and see if I can find out why I feel a certain way and I appreciate your channel đđŒ
"It feels good to be present." Very well said!
Been feeling exactly like this lately. So overwhelmed with information. Great topic!
this really resonated with me. ive been really exhausted and bogged down by the massive amounts of info I've been consuming recently. I haven't written in my journal, or even meditated for months. this was a nice reminder to get back on track. take care my dude
Your words and thoughts sober and ground me. The connections made and the effectiveness of your communication are awesome. Thank you.
this is exactly the reason why you stand out. from the past couple of years this is what i (and most people) suffer from and constantly struggle to untangle ourselves from internet that is not going to help us make our future. the constant shallow information on youtube and other sites have been extremely unhelpful and just brings in more and more noise, like we have forgotten what is peace of mind anymore, and not a lot of people talk about it. your videos makes me think and reflect back on my actions more. thanks a lot.
Such a great video, i had felt before drained in energy and couldnât figure it out what was wrong, when i came to see this video it all made much more sense and now i feel hope on gaining back my energy and calm by allowing me to disconnect. Thank you so much for creating this video!
Thanks for the relating you created in this video. Thank you, and keep going. Life is so much more, and people around like you constantly reminding that, makes me one of the happiest people around. Take care!đ
Need this. I am going through a difficult time and numbing it out through information consumption is not the right treatment. I will read a physical book, write in my journal, meditate and go on walks instead. Thank you so much Nathaniel.
your voice is so calming, i like the clear quality, terrific
I'm like literally addicted to your videos. And its improving me. Thanks for creating them
I've been feeling exactly like this lately. Thank you so much for this video.
THANK YOU, I've been experimenting the same thing for the last month and decided to quit social media so I could feel "human" again and think clearly. I've been spending more time reading books and exercising everyday and feel better
I'm so glad you are talking about this! You are living your truth the best you can in a crazy world.
And this video alone is going to help give people permission to be in the moment and meet their own needs. And that is a valuable tool for anyone, thank you for what you're doing đ
Youâre so right about this. I get fatigued throughout the day from everyoneâs energies and I find myself unwinding by binging on CZcams or even reading books, rationalizing it by saying that itâs positive content that Iâm consuming. Thatâs true, but I find when my body and mind needs to rest, I need to delve into meditating, journaling, art, some sort of creative relaxing output, or even sleeping as you said. Passively consuming tons of information as a result of feeling too fatigued to do much else is only a detriment to myself and results in further mental fatigue. Thanks for the reminder. This will be the last CZcams vid I watch this morning lol
Awesome content as always, Nathan. Thank you!
Recently I started to cut down the hours I'd spent on my phone during the morning, while I was having breakfast, on public transport, etc. My mind started to feel calmer, like my life slowed down quite a bit. I also realize I became more present and focus during my daily activities, specially in the meetings I usually have every morning at my job.
And the best thing is: I discovered that I don't miss any important information. I thought I'd be alienated from the world if I stopped using social networks until midday. But if anything really important happens, people will talk about it day and night, it's easy to catch up. So, regarding what you said in this video, it's like I could filter what was relevant for me to know and then move on with my routine after using my phone.
Awesome video man. I recently just took my first vacation in nearly a decade and totally unplugged for ten days. It was astounding to come back to my regular routines and realize how much I was addicted to information. Learning to dial things back may initially seem unproductive could be one of the antidotes to getting more done in the long term. How ironic.
Your channel is recent discovery for me, and I am appreciating the quality presentation of thoughtful content. Nice work, real takeaways. Thanks!
Your videos always strike a chord with me. Thanks for the insight!
Thanks bro for this .
âIt feels good to be present â
God bless you.
I come back to watch this video every time I feel this way. And it really helps every time. I think I've watched this video 4 or 5 times, and each time, I've created some sort of helpful restriction for myself. In the future I will most likely watch this video again, but with each viewing, I almost feel like I'm seeing it for the first time. Thank you, Nathan, it's so relieving to watch your videos, because I feel like I am not alone. And what a nice feeling that is. Constantly feeling that it's you against the rest of the world, is very tiring, so just thank you. I hope you might see this and know that you are changing something for someone. Keep doing what you think you feel.
wow, needed this! Thank you for making these videos, love your content! It has been so helpful since your CZcams channel found me, you literally upload gems!
Your storytelling and editing is getting better and better! I have started creating things and stopped consuming things and this has helped a lot !
As usual excellent video
this is a very intelligent way to look at things. and you have a very chilled and down to earth way of speaking which I appreciate.
Thanks Nathaniel! Great video as always.
You are wise beyond your years! Thank you đđœ
It feels very inclusive when you use "we" instead of "I". This video about content consumption was brilliant. So grateful for you
Very clear message! I canât fathom the amount of work that goes in your videos, but please keep it up đ
I feel the same way. Well done. Properly described.
I donât even need to finish the video to like this

I was refreshing your CZcams channel from the day before yesterday.your videos are source of inspiration. đ«
I love the colors of your films in between, the shots in general are amazing. Really calming man!
I can totally relate , I consume SO much âuseful â CZcams content , hours a day , but I donât have creative projects or outcomes, I donât create as much as I consume which is a bummer tbh , thank you for the video Nathaniel
This is the thing I was struggling with and our fav Nathaniel makes a video on it!!!đ
This is so true! I kept knotting throughout the entire video. Recently I thought about this a lot, and been trying to be more present on my small tasks instead of taking a million breaks to get away from the moment by checking social media.
I've also been making space on my schedule and limiting people's access to me turning down notification. If it's important, you'll know my phone number and if not, I'm sure you can wait until I feel like talking.
Yoga's been helping a lot with creating an awareness of my body, a connection with it and learning to listen to what it needs.
Much needed video. I was seeking this all over the internet.
I've been thinking the exact same thing as of late, but this is the first time I've heard anyone say it so clearly! For me, my brain fog mostly likely stems from both information fatigue and my unhealthy diet/lifestyle. Thank you for uploading this!!
Your voice sounds amazingly deep here, I appreciated the energy so much. There's a lot to quality over quantity that I can also see here. You are on the right path
You're awesome man. Keep doing what you do.
You're not becoming only a great youtuber or a good life teacher, but also a sensible and concrete philosopher... Love you bro, keep going!
I've had the exact same feeling of brain fog for the past few days and it's gotten in the way of being productive, I am going to commit to lowering my phone and Internet/computer usage for entertainment. Cheers and good luck to everyone else out there making a similar commitment!
*Great video Nathaniel. Thanks for making it.*
Balance.
Great video, Nathaniel. You're getting better each day!
I've been struggling with this for a long time, thank you for sharing.
Keep bringing the content bro! You are creating impact đ
i am happy that i almost 4 months not using media social media and it helps me to change some of bad habbits. thanks for this amazing video
Thanks for another well thought out video. Nice and concise and important to hear.
always love hearing what you have to say. your da vinci video has inspired me to give myself lots of time each day to write and work on my book... in solitude. thank you Nathaniel!
You've been kinda reading my mind recently. You've been medicine for my soul pain. Thank you for that.
Man what the fuck this is EXACTLY how I've been feeling for the past week and a bit, been furiously trying to work on new music and I've been constantly browsing CZcams for the perfect release strategy. Thanks for putting this feeling into a digestible format Nathaniel, great content
Merry Christmas and a happy new year to you Nate!
I just love and appreciate your content so much. Taking care of yourself is the most important task of them all, for sure.
So instead of hopping to my next "productive" task of the evening, I'm gonna meditate for the next 10 mins.
Thank you for being a constant inspiration, sending you good vibes from Israel đ
Very interesting. I've experienced that information fatigue often this year. As stated, one of the easiest and most calming escapes from it was turning off my phone completely. Just knowing its off is peace of mind which I find very odd. Also as you mentioned, me getting outside and getting at least a mile outside of the civilized bounds has helped tremendously. This problem is a compound issue that continues to grow. I'm going to investigate this more. Thanks for this, dude.
Your video is so relaxing. Thanks for the upload. đŻ
Thank you dude, I needed this.
Nathaniel, I appreciate your self growth and evolving energy! Highly resonate with your content. Happy holidays xo
