For what it's worth, I like that you guys have to choose what you buy instead of buying everything. The show would be something completely different if you did.
Facts. It’s boring when people just buy every single thing every single time. No excitement there. Love the game chaser format!
That's the way game chasing goes
Yeah what's wrong with these guys
@@TheJulebrusHorror Oil up and hit the gym with me
its gotta be crazy to look back on this and realize what you missed out on, but also simultaneously realize that you were also part of the reason that these game prices started to skyrocket. i didnt get back into retro game collecting until i started watching game chasers, and im sure many others were just like me. you guys helped make it cool again, which was obviously a double edged sword.
I remember watching another show where people goes country wide buying obcure and forgotten items other than games like 1950s Coke bottles, Indian rugs and etc. It was pretty cool looking at antiques and memorabilias. That was when it was available on regular TV show or cable.
I wasn't into collecting video games until I search on CZcams in 2008 to see who was like me. I came to Gamechaser, Angryvideogame nerd, Metal Jesus and etc. Afterward, I just collect what I miss out on. I still game back then but on a less than usual (pre 20 years old). For 10 years until 2010 is when I really get back into gaming.
Always binge a few episodes every Friday just for the theme song
My pricing mindset will always revolve around early Game Chaser & Flea Market Madness episodes. The deals are still out there and is such a high when you find one.
Sometimes they're out there*
They're not always out there.
Not like you can just walk into a store and get every boxed SNES and NES game for $10 like this videos number 1 lol
Before the virus you could find uncommon stuff all the time. Shit is not as out there anymore. Way more luck based
Man I miss Discount Electronic. Drove by there the other day and every time I see that 99 cent store sign, I die a little more inside. You could get anything there and trade in any old electronic junk for money. Was always there.
“Put that shit in my hand. If that money doesn’t show…” omg that was so funny 😂
Still the best theme song on YT!
agreed
Nice Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back reference!
I remember passing on $20 Panzer Dragoon Saga at Toys R' Us, because I already had a copy.
Really really wish I could have experienced Game Room Trading Post personaly. The anount of inbox retro games was totally friggin unreal. The episodes where you guys go there af did PURE gold.
I wish i had an obsession like this. Maybe i would be happier when i woke up every morning.
Gotta love that Top 5 Friday!
Love your show! Yall are great. I was at bussys flea market north of san antonio yesterday. Alot of games and systems.
It really doesn't matter.. you did the best you could in "the moment"..knowing "what you knew", and prices and scarcity was "what it was"..its always easier looking back and seeing "what, should have been done", in retrospect.. you did good..all in all.. everything is "in the moment", without the abilty to foresee things..video games related and much more... thanks for sharing youre adventures and fun through the years! You guys are a good ❤️ God bless the gang!
The virus destroyed the hobby
lol I love that classic melvor look at 6:46. He reminds me of like a Resident Evil villian or something haha
I worked at a video game store from 96 to 98. I still think back to all the games we had there and how much they’re worth today. NES especially, our trade value for nes was a flat $1 per game. Regardless if it was Little Samson or Mario/Duck Hunt, box or no box. They got dumped in a metal bin and sold for 2.99 each. Nobody ever bought them, we turned several away from trading because we had too many. I also recall a boxed Earthbound that sat on our shelf for over a year, nobody wanted that either…
Years ago, at a Half price books, I found Rule of rose and Kuon for about 30 dollars each. I took them down from the shelf, thought about how I'm not that much of a fan of horror games and didn't want to spend that much. That happened for about a month, they just sat on the shelf, till they finally sold. Saw them fairly recently at local game store...damn.
Melvor lookin like he's in the Matrix with Neo 6:45
There was an episode aaaages back where you went game chasing in someone's garage or something and you'd taken ProJared and his girlfriend along. She finds a Turbografx portable and it's _obvious_ you really wanted it, but, she decides to keep it, even though without you guys she wouldn't have been in that garage looking for games in the first place! Not cool. And, just to top it off, she looks really smug about it too. I felt genuinely aggrieved for you Billy. I bet bringing her along counts pretty high on your list of regrets! I just Googled to see if I could find out which episode it was - Episode 30, all the way back in 2013.
I agree, I dislike how Jared jumps over the video game counter at the game room trading post. Completely disrespectful.
@@collin88 Oh yeah, forgot about that bit.
I'm sure a lot of people regret knowing Heidi, Jared included.
@@fergalstackstreams I think Jared's got plenty of regrets of his own, mainly involving cameras and Sailor Moon outfits...
Episode 50 Discount Electronics store was pure gold. Really really sad they went outta business that place was a national treasure. You guys should have totally blowed your whole wad there!
It's easy to look back and see everything you missed but look at all the stuff you DID get. Some real gems.
Also, I don't care what Melvor's "Flock of Seagulls" lookin' ass says, he lost the SD card in Vegas.
I remember Billy skipping on a Gameboy micro at that store in roswell. Galaxy games I believe it was called? It was $20 there. They're definitely worth more now and even then were pretty pricy. It made me cry a bit on the inside. 😂
Yeah that's a good one
@TheGameChasers that store was awesome too
This was great a look back at old game chasers
Jungle love (Oh-we-oh-we-oh) ha great Jay and Silent Bob reference there Billy! Actually, Jay had a Silent Bob look going for sometime!
Thank god there a fellow Simpsons arcade game lover out there. I have Several arcade games but that one is huge. It’s on my list of games to own.
I remember the one episode where ya passed over Legend for Populous.
Damn lol
also it would be a great series to go back to the really old episodes and do live commentary with some of the people in the episodes to discuss prices and stuff.
I think we all done things like this in the past. There were games I passed up years ago that were only $10. I was being cheap at the time. Now these games are going for way more $$$
Feel the pain 100%. Hindsight is 20/20 on this stuff. Back when I started I bought a ton of empty boxes for SNES & Genesis from a closing store and that's what started my CIB obsession. I passed on many (now) high end carts because I was so picky about getting at least the box. Passed on a CIB Zombie Nation in the early 2000s cause I thought 30 was too high for a CIB NES game lol. The same store I bought the loose boxes from also had about 250 empty original gameboy boxes the owner wanted 300 for. I had already thrown so much on my credit card as a poor high school kid that I decided to pass on them....ugh I still regret that to this day. He had all the final fantasy, mega man, castlevania, kid drac ect
Bonus points for the jay and silent bob quote.
You think it pains you Billy, it pains me not be able to go to any of these places every time I playlist the show. At least you got to see these places especially GRTP but I understand. It pains me to remember how I could have gotten LITTLE SAMSON in a bargain bin years ago. But with no internet at the time, no way of knowing my facts about it then. Thanks for sharing these, I'm sure we all have our own memories let alone the ones from our favorite episodes.
Rip Game Room trading post
Love the blue and red-ish lighting! You got the skills! Should do another movie! :D
Thank you! Will do!
I had an opportunity to buy a Karate Champ cabinet in great condition from a drive-in about 7/8 years ago for $100 and I kick myself constantly for not getting it just because I didn't have space at the time. I also found a 4-player X-men at a flea market for around $300 around that same time that I passed up.
We need a remake of that theme song
The Game Room Trading Post guy has a new store in Hot Springs AR now. Retro Rick when there a couple months back.
Im just over here screaming “bring back pre 08 prices!!!!!!”
I’ve had a really bad soda addiction most of my life. I’ve now gone to zero sugar sodas. It may not be much but it’s a step in the right direction. Dr. Pepper Zero isn’t that bad. It taste like a regular Dr Pepper.
Yeah that's not bad at all
So easy to say that now for sure... but back then it was still expensive... just now... its crazy!
It wasn't expensive. We were all just cheaper! "$30 for an old video game cartridge hell no..." "I'll be patient" and you could be patient. Speculation is still high
Never miss a video
Great video 🎉
Thank you 😁
Hey, Billy. When will the blu rays ship out? It’s been about 3 years!
Great Jay and Bob movie reference
That's a real point of view on game chasing.
I remember one episode at the Game Trading Post one of you was going over the boxed Genesis games and I saw Haunting Starring Polterguy and one of you just passed right over it
That hurts
I need to go back and watch them all again. And search for them hidden dvd Easter eggs
Love you guys. But this is how i felt watching your videos years ago, as they were released. I would yell at the screen . " What are you doing ..buy all them games" Lol
You were the reason I got those Atari x-rated games and I didn't pass up on custards revenge cib lol
Lucky
😮 keep it up see you on the next
Cant beat yourself up. In the previous years you could have patience. There were like no resellers and games weren't speculative in value seemed like theyd always be 10-15 bucks and you could just wait for another time conveniently
Be grateful that you got a $5 Metal Warriors and a beautiful little Samson story.
But yeah its always funny to hold on to those regrets about what we could have done lol
I remember in the first season that bonks adventure was 70 bucks at the time. Oh my how much it is now xD.
I saw in season 1 episode 7 at comic con, you guys passed up Futurama for the xbox. Crazy how expensive that game is now.
Probably wasn't worth much at the time tho
11:51 lost for words lol
Probably one of the rarest games you've ever come across was during a roadtrip from Canada. You were looking at a cardboard box version of Sonic the Hedgehog 2, but walked on it because Sonic 2 is normally a common game. Sadly, only a handful of people in the US even own the version you guys saw.
I miss game room trading post, the new store in hot springs is too cramped
I feel it. I passed on one of those 4 ft tall mario statues a few years ago for $300, bc at the time they were going for 200 lol
I too passed on an in-box Batman Returns on the SNES for $15 back in the early 2010s. Why does it sting and will it ever not?
Speaking of "I wish I got it when I had the chance," I could have gotten a full copy of Buzz the Game Show on PS2 with controllers brand new from a local Best Buy for like $35 like 6 years ago (old stock) but didn't because price charting saidbit was only worth $32 new. Now it's like $100 and it's been gone for at least 4 years.
We need a top 10 game chasers farts video for a future top 5 friday. Theres many to choose from Perhaps some help from the community as to which GC farts are most memorable would help.... Whats everyones favorite GC gassy moment?
When they were going to that con in DC...where the guys eyes were bleeding
Best theme song on youtube
at least you were buying and collecting back then, imagine if you had to start over today
I cry thinking about those cheap arcade prices. My god it hurts...😢
Hey Billy have you see the Ghoulies figures revealed at Comic con? They look sick.
There was one where you guys visited norm in Kansas .. you found a Nintendo display cabinet and was like $150 or $200 .. which for that is insanely cheap they go for thousands … jay wanted to give like $50 or something 😂
15:05 insert your favorite 'reseller CZcamsr' here
Another Day Another Game
ummm, it no one going to mention that you’re looking like a chiseled golden god? bro, this beard and hair style. GQ magazine photoshoot when?
having limits on how much you can spend makes the videos better in my opinion. watching videos like retro rick, froggy flips or guys like that who spend thousands and seem to just randomly buy stuff is lame to me. the struggle of collecting is having a cap on what you can spend and it has been lost on some youtube channels but its why i still watch your guys show.
Yeah and those idiots never keep their games they always will eventually be sold
Holy balls, it's Friday!!
I just got the movie thank you
I believe there was an episode at one of the cons & someone was selling one of the porno Atari games. Jay savagely low balled the guy, was hilarious. Guy wanted hundred something, Jay goes $10 or something like that. Classic Shady Jay. 😂
Oh it’s Friday niiiiaaght
Simply. That's how game chasing go. Right?
Passing bucky for 25 lol 🤦🏻♂️
Aw man, i miss Let’s Get!
the code to save some money is chode lmfao😂
More of this.
Yea man. I remember going to gamestop in 2010 and 2011 picking up gamecube first party games for 20 bucks complete in box. I snagged xd gale of darkness, windwaker and a player choice paper mario. I always regret not buying more
Just a few years ago GameCube games were basically like bs Wii games
you know what they say, that’s just the way game chasing go. what’s wrong with these guys
i’m a floating head uhhh
I made a playlist of all the GRTP episodes just to marvel.
And Jimmy.
Billy, create a whatnot and start flipping stuff for that extra cash.
Does Jay still have all those arcade cabinets ?
Oh Billy Wan
jungle love, oh eee oh eee oh!
It's not Friday Night yet. Has your AARP card showed up, yet?😜
The Chode is ALWAYS the code!💪💯👍😎 And you shoulda named this episode that "SUNOVABITCH" you do so hilariously Billy. 😂 GREAT video still man. I'm happy to have been with you guys and all of Chode Nation on this crazy journey and look forward to more! 😁
Wait didn't Roo say he took the SD card??
Also Atomic toys n more
That stuff is $10 a box at Wal-Mart for a small box
i have all three paid 100 for the set
The discount electronics one pains me as well. So much stuff there even when things were like 80% or 90% off.
CHODE!!!!
“promo code CHODE” is one of the best things i’ve ever heard.
Those Atari porn games were minty. Was also news to me didn't know they made those.
Unsure if I agree...You need to release five new videos for me to compare.
More melvor dodongo episodes
This long on CZcams and having to sell mw cereal to make ends meet. That's rough.
my only issue with magic spoon is its so expensive per box. which is the issue with alot of healthy options, terrible food is cheap and it sucks
Yeah I wish better ingredients were cheaper for sure
You wasnt using them before magic spoon reached out, come on now 😂😂.. love all you guys anyway though.. much love from england 😘
