DFTBA: store.dftba.com/collections/d... - Komedie
You might think that Kyle is overworking again by casting himself as multiple characters, but remember: each of these Kyles have been recruited from alternate dimensions in a multiversal sketch writing scheme.
Now Door Monster can overwork as many Kyles as they want!
To be fair, this is a sketch he could have probably filmed in 5 minutes, and edited in 20, on his own. This was relatively fast and cheap, and probably quick to make.
Edit: given the response, I guess it's on me for expecting people to understand hyperbole.
A sketch with Kyle as the multiple Cave Johnsons from Portal 2 vs the multiple Kyles from K
@@denverarnold6210You have to consider the time needed to open and close the portals though
@@denverarnold6210 Having watched Kyle for a while now, there's a billiard ball somewhere that took 12 years to model and is accurate to the atom, that in the final render is 2 pixels wide.
ya but that just means they collectively don't sleep either
I'm really happy to see doormonster has started posting more sketches again.
And less paradox ads.
@@makuru_dd3662 Their Paradox ads are interesting though. Would like to see more Civ stuff also
@@makuru_dd3662I don't mind the ads they're funny
@@makuru_dd3662i mean i liked the Paradox sketches
He has no sleep, and he must Kyle
Sometimes Google tells you it's more fuel efficient even if a bit slower, but honestly I'm glad to know about alternate routes, especially since the "fastest route" can change when there's tons of traffic.
Or if there's a traffic holdup that it doesn't know about yet
or if there's specific things that happen at a certain time of day,or a one-time event, that google hasn't accounted for. It's always good to cover your bases.
It would suck to have a road blocked off because a tree fell across it or something, and have google refuse to give you an alternate route because it's so sure this one is the fastest option.
You'd be better off using waze in that case, since it auto changes the route if traffic starts forming.
When talking about traffic, fastest route is almost always the alternative route.
@@hinasolver685 only if people in that traffic jam use the app i assume? and the jam lasts long enough for it to update. otherwise it couldnt possibly know about the traffic
I have a sneaking suspicion that Kyle was recently on a road trip with the patented Weed-Smoking Map System. His rage feels too real.
yes
Kyle's previous strategy of "doing all the work" wasn't enough, so from now on, he's casting himself as all the characters!
(Happy to see you back, and in top form! Please get some sleep : ))
Yah Kyle's got those Grim reaper eyes going. Man needs some sleep something bad. 😢
@MrLaughingman2020 he's got resting needs sleep face
Well there's that one guy that casts himself for all his videos and turns out it's super easy, barely an inconvenience.
I mean if Ryan George can pull it off...
@@Pridemongerit's Google maps, it's driving him mad.
I used to be baffled by this feature, until one day the "faster route" was blocked due to construction that Google didn't know about yet, so I used the alternate "slower" route.
its MUCH more useful if you use public transit, sometimes x route is technically faster but has more transfers or the bus tends to be more crowded...other example is i prefer subway over buses since the subway is much less affected by traffic.
Well this is most likely why they have alternate routes highlighted in the first place.
This is the exact reason you want technology to give you as much information as possible in a nicely flagged and organized way instead of making decisions for you in the background
Sometimes it's like that, sometimes there is a fresh car accident that just jammed everything up all of a sudden, but sometimes Google just feels like rerouting me. So many times it's tried when I just put maps on even though I know the way, and I'm just like "Nope, I just wanna go my normal route.".
I had a "fun" time just last week with Google Maps not knowing which part of a road was closed. It tried to route me through a school, whose gate was blocked with traffic barricades. 🤦♂️
The best part is when Google tells you about the two routes but you know for a fact that neither one actually is the fastest and then it tries to correct you when you take the actual fastest route
At that point why are you telling google where you are?
@@stanard_bearerthey already know. Not much point in not telling them at this point.
I'm pretty sure that isn't Google yelling at you, but the house's residents which you plowed through to get there.
As someone who used to do deliveries.. YEAP
Hey, don't let Gongle see you take that route. Secret routes are for residents.
I don't know why but its nice to see a short video that hasnt been shoved into a "short".
Yup, the short viewing experience is poorer and often gives me the vibe of low effort.
Idk i was really hoping to watch a video the size of my phone on my monitor with no option to fullscreen, click through the video or change the volume.
I was also hoping youtube could retroactively force a bunch of widescreen content into that format
Aspect ratio
It's 8 seconds too long for that lol.
him saying the words "a toll bridge" fills me with life
I love the "school play decorated by hastily painted cardboard" aesthetic for this sketch. It's super unique and charming.
Yeah, I thought it added to the sketchiness of the Google Maps guy. 🙃
I really wish there was a "I don't care if it takes five minutes longer, I just don't want to have to slow down" option that kept you out of neighborhoods, school zones, and streets with speed bumps. I'll go the longer way, I just want to *go faster* even if it's slower, you dig?
Yeah this is my issue with the alternate route. Sure, it's helpful when there's a traffic jam on the freeway.
But my mom and sister always use the "less busy" route. They assume it will be faster so they can avoid traffic, only to end up stuck behind some car going way too slow, and they can't pass. Or there's a million stop signs and they have to stop and wait for pedestrian crossing, etc. It always ends up taking longer than the time Google gives, since it doesn't account for that stuff.
@@faolan2174 I think it uses real-world data, so it does account for that in the average, but those routes have high variance. Sometimes consistency matters more than the average ETA.
I don't agree with this, but I hate having to /stop/ in traffic. On a motorcycle, crawling is more annoying than just riding slower.
Took a road trip this spring without checking the route first and Google seemed determined to take us on a winding scenic route through Amish country. We kept seeing a highway in the distance, and it took us a while to realize that we were driving alongside the highway most of the way. Google apparently thought it was slightly more efficient but I don't think the algorithm considered having to slow down and speed up to pass all the carriages!
I've had Google do this to me twice, and it seemed weird, but I have Google a chance. And then the backroad route It put me on crossed over the highway and we could see traffic at a dead stop for miles in both directions. At least sometimes, google knows what it's doing.
Sometimes I think it just wants fresh data on a bad road so it can continue to not recommend it to everyone else
I mean, technically, it was probably the fact that since the Amish aren't using Google maps, it marks the area as having no traffic
this feels like it was recorded after a long painful road trip and having to deal with google maps the entire time
Now I'm here hoping that Into The Kyle-Verse was a lore video on why we're going to get a bunch of sketches just starring Kyle
I actually kind of like this feature because sometimes Google doesnt know about road closures or other issues that might make the "fastest" route impassable. Also, sometimes you dont want to crank an unprotected left across 4 lanes of highway-speed traffic.
Is door monster returning, they left for so long. Please make more sketches, we all love your genius comedy.
Every group takes hiatuses. Door Monster comes and goes with the passing of seasons too vast for our understanding.
Always found alternate routes useful, especially if I want to bypass a particular area, knowing something google map doesn't (construction, the place being filfthy or unsafe, ect).
This alternate route includes tolls, namely requiring you to drop all your valuables out your window as a distraction in order to safely pass through crackhead alley, however it will save you 4 minutes and is more fuel efficient.
wait wait wait...what do you mean "filthy"? All roads are intrinsically dirty...
You forgot the part where google maps forgets to update in the last couple of years and the "alternate" around a toll was blocked off years ago
A week between sketches. I don't think we truly appreciated how astonishing that was when it was the regular thing. Also while short, the level is still the same as it always was.
Man you don't really know how much something is worth until you're missing it. And the magic when it returns, even if just for a bit.
At first I thought I had never seen an old Door Monster sketch - but something even better happened.
Don't forget when you select the option you want, and the map decides to just change the route you're on without your consent because it thinks it knows better.
I'm so happy to see from Doormonster. I always loved the sketches, just like everyone else. I hope the pressure which is always there isn't nearly as bad. You all were the best while I was getting through high school. I will always remember the excitement of a new video because I still get excited every time a new video comes up. Take care of yourself and enjoy the process.
Unironically, sometimes it's actually handy when Google Maps gives you an alternate route, especially when you can see either high amounts of traffic or are aware of a particular road being far less safe or easy to drive in.
"You could take these well marked arterial roads that have fewer stop signs, more lanes, and take a more direct route to your destination, but I'm going to suggest you take this route that winds through the neighborhood, making left and right turns, hitting every stop sign possible, and sending you through single wide side-streets, because I predict it will save you 1.83 seconds!"
Sometimes you are just driving to work, and "yep, that's a sketch".
I think that this is actually the result of an effort to disperse traffic. If everybody goes for the same "best" route, it become congested and is no longer the best route any more. It's related to Braess's Paradox.
"This route is an hour longer and wraps around several mountains where you will lose all phone and internet connection, but there's less traffic."
My mom: *"DONE!"*
That "WAIT!" had some superhero level impact energy.
Thanks for this, it was delightfully wholesome and pleasing in its simplicity. Also made me feel good about having given up Google maps in favour of paying for an app with less data harvesting.
I hate it when Google Maps suddenly decides that I am not worthy of being told if I have to go left or right, or being told what street I have to follow, but instead says something like "head North-East".
I actually often choose the route that’s a few minutes slower if it follows a route I already know, or has less turns, as I have to remember them all since I’m on a motorbike
Why is google so weird..
I'm just happy it's not trying to kill him again.... that we know of.
Hmmm Kyle looks like he hasn't slept. Looks like we'll be getting some great sketches!
As someone who uses Google maps as my GPS while I drive for work, this highlights the struggles...
One note is that they say the "longer drive time/Toll route" is more fuel efficient and then try to force your navigation in that direction unless you specifically turn off those settings. Don't get me started on routes trying to force me and my Company vehicle onto a ferry boat if the navigation feels so inclined(Also something you can turn off thank god).
Also, Welcome back Door Monster. Missed you guys.
I love it when google maps sends me a full block over from the actual building I'm trying to get to because apparently I'm supposed to phase through several buildings and come out on the other side. Or when you miss the address and it just goes "you've arrived!" And exits out of the navigation.
Funnily enough I made good use of this feature recently to avoid the main road and get a nice scenic route through the countryside for the same time, so there are some positives at least!
You always kill it with the quality bro. Good work. Thanks.
Thank you for making this and sharing it with us! Glad to see Kyle back!
Glad to see these back!
Great to see you guys making videos again! Hilarious as always!
I really miss these sketches! Even if this is temporary, you've made my month!
everyone & kyle, ive been watching your vids for years. the little callbacks, the overall aesthetic and the clear love put into these skits is always a breath of fresh air when it comes to the content on this site :D
Funniest thing I have seen all day! Your style is so refreshing and your comedic timing is exceptional.
That's a good point. Another annoying thing for me is when the directions say "Keep left to stay on the current road", as if I was going to take a random exit or something.
So happy to see you guys posting again and Kyle your looking great my man stay golden.
Whew... my Door Monster Sketch addiction is finally over, I went through withdrawal, therapy, and now I'm a productive member of socie... wait... what?...
The sketches are back, baby!!!
God, this one is funny. Can't wait for mo... DAMNIT!!!!!
Waiting for the, "It would have been faster to have just gone that way now that I've spent this much time arguing" joke.🤣
Gah! A new Doormonster day is a good day!
Love how stuff seems to be going better for y'all! You guys are hilarious, and deeply enjoyed and I hope to see much more of you guys in the near future! Also Kyle you are hilarious and I am a huge fan xD
Love getting caught in Dallas/Ft Worth traffic and constantly getting on and off the interstate because Google can't figure out which is better. It's my favorite.
I'm so happy to see weekly sketches make a return. These were always the highlight of my week.
I love your channel, its great. And this video in particular made me laugh.
Door Monster sketches are honestly some of my favorite breather moments. Nice, short, funny, perfect to get a little off the mind.
Extremely relatable. On the road trip I do every now and then, I'll see google maps show an alternate route that adds an hour and a half and has 20 dollars in tolls, compared to my current free route. Makes me laugh every time.
Man, your CGI gets better and better every skit. I could barely tell that map-kyles shirt was fake. Good job.
Was just looking last night, noticing Door Monster hasn't really posted much this year. What a nice surprise to get up to!
When you regularly take walks or cycle, those alternate routes do cone in handy a lot. 5 extra minutes of walking, but it's on a car-free path compared to a road going through and industrial zone? Yes please.
It is great to see some just... funny content again. Thanks, Kyle, missed you!
I travel regularly for work, and this is very much the conversations I have with my damn phone. Usually in the middle of nowhere too
It’s even better when it’s like an extreme: this has multiple tolls and will take you two hours longer…. But why?
Or even “hey want to loop around this nearby block for no reason”
Really glad to see Kyle getting back in shape. Really looking healthier and happier these past couple of videos. Keep up the great work!
"That's nice, Google, but i know not to take that road. Ever." 😖
So true :). Also love the "4 extra turns in a loop exiting, then returning to the road you were on" quirk.
Thank you for uploading this on my birthday
I once had Google Maps give me no alternative routes, slower or otherwise. I turned on "avoid highways." It switched to a route that was one minute faster.
You forgot the "don't worry, I'll change the route and give you a 5 second warning while you're not looking"
This one is emotionally charged
Love to see sketches back again! (hopefully Kyle can get some more sleep though hopefully lol)
I love when the Google Maps troll my uber drivers, it is such a thrill to go through the scenic route to the appointments, specially when there’s car traffic involved on the suggested route, ah, the marvels of modern city planning
Happy to see another video from my good pal Door Monster
this is the kinda punchlines ive been a patreon for for year, Im dying xD
Doormonster easily has some of the best sketches I’ve ever seen on this platform. It is absolutely criminal that they are not bigger.
Given my trust of Google, I'm willing to bet that the toll road *paid* Google to suggest that route.
This is absolutely amazing 😂😂
I feel like Kyle was so enraged by Google Maps he had to take an hour out of his day to immediately film, edit and, post this to vent.
The shortest sketch ever and it felt like hours reliving this experience.
What infuriated me and what prompted me to abandon Google maps was when it would switch your route without telling you or giving you a quick time event while you are driving to prevent it.
What a great video to procrastinate my geography homework with!
It's been a minute. Glad to have you back.
Lol. One time I was driving from D.C to Philadelphia, and Google Maps thought it would be a good idea to route me around traffic I-95 BY GOING THROUGH ALL OF DELAWARE. I think I spent an additional 45 minutes alone waiting to cross the Chesapeake Bay bridge. I was livid.
Later it turned out that somehow, I'd selected the option to prioritize "eco-friendly" routes that used less gas. How spending an additional hour to drive an additional 80 or so miles saves gas (even compared to bad traffic on I-95) baffles me.
im happy to see door monster posting more but i also hope that kyle is doinggood behind the scenes.
The worst is when the "alternate route" is just turning around for a bit only to go back to where you started. I once chose to take a route that was 20 minutes slower because I assumed it would avoid traffic... it just turned me around and brought me to the back of the line instead.
I have to imagine it helps with traffic as well, to have everyone that's using google maps *not* be presented with the same perfectly optimal route that will soon become clogged with traffic.
classic Kyle twist ending, 8/10 good to see you haven't lost your touch
*Kyle for President!*
Thanks for sharing the fun! Have a good Monday.
I love the set design
one time my google maps automatically changed the route without me noticing and my mother and i drove through cornfields for the following two hours
I just had Google Maps recommend a "better route" that was literally this exact scenario. Three minutes slower with a toll bridge. Thank you for being relatable.
that's the most mature content I watched in a while haha
Yaaaaayy!!!! Welcome back Kyle!
Are you okay Kyle? I mean -- I enjoyed the videos you've been posting but I wanted to just make sure you're doing alright. Thank you for everything you and the others at Door Monster do and I hope you all are doing great.
I love to see sketches this close together
Was really hopping there would also be a reference to the route that has you backtrack for 5 miles just to end up in the same place where it had you turn off the main route
Dang it Google maps! Good work on the sketch.
It's so good to hear that music again
My favorite is when he tries to grab the wheel shouting that passing the turn you are now +5 minutes longer even though this was the shortest route.
this set is so ominous I might cry.
I relate to this on so many levels. Just a month ago, my sister and I circled a city's streets for three hours only to return back where we started which had a train station five minutes away.
Glad to see a return to form.
Omg, this one feels weirdly classic 💖💖💖💖
Reminds me of this one time my mom had two separate GPS's running simultaneously, both going to different locations. So basically the directions would argue with each other as one says "Turn Right" and the other says "Turn Left"
