Annecy in the French Alps is a wonderful destination. It is sometimes called “Venice of the Alps”
With a large beautiful lake, reputed as one of the cleanest in Europe there is, connected with canals that criss-cross the town with the backdrop of the Alpine mountains and beautiful period buildings all round makes for a great outing.
We had an enjoyable boat ride around the lake and were swept over with the sheer beauty of the emerald lake and its surroundings. Truly exhilarating!
The cobbled mediaeval town has many places of interest including chateaus, cathedrals, prisons and the ubiquitous eateries and shops lining the canal, and in the town.
The canals will remind you of Venice and the best way to explore this place is by foot in addition to a boat ride on the lake.
