  • Dental Assisting - Assist with Composite Restoration (excerpt)
    We are excited to bring to you our suite of Dental Assisting education modules with web-based skills simulations. A first for dental education! This video is only a tiny sneak peek into our Dental Assisting - Assist with Composite Restoration module. Each SIMTICS module doesn't only have a video, but also has simulations where you can learn and practice the procedure interactively, step by step, then test your skills. On top of that you'll get an illustrated text description of the procedure to read, a 3D model of relevant anatomy or equipment to explore, and a multi-choice quiz. All activity and scores are tracked in the logbook, so you can see your progress over time.
    Find more information about all our DA modules here: www.simtics.co.... If you're an instructor, contact us at sales@simtics.com to ask about academic pricing.

    So these videos are just partial (incomplete) representation of the procedure. They basically are there to draw you in or interest you to buy the simulation class/activity. If your a current student for DA and willing to spend $ a bit more to hone your skills and be more confident because u haven’t got the full potential to practice chair side during your placement, or for someone who would want that experience: this is an excellent possibility to look into the simulation (this was not presented to me as a student and I wish that might have been included within the program, during which you could have potentially grouped with a partner and done it together and “smart budgeted”). However, for me looking to just refresh my mind as a DA this was not ideal. No harm though, if your just starting a program as a DA definitely consider 🤗

      @@dustmust17 that’s one of the downfall of dental assisting… there’s lots of learning, testing, all these new terminology flying around but zero chairside experience or simulation of what assisting dentists might look like. Going into my placement I felt unprepared, and dentist expectations are sky high. They need to update the program and completely redesign the teaching method, where assistants get to do so chairside simulations on specific procedure like: resto, endo, crown & bridge, oral surgery, etc. That will give you general idea and prepare you. It sucks that the programs are not designed well for assistance, end of the program it feels like jumping into water and not knowing how to swim.

      Hi there. So sorry you were disappointed! The video description does say "This video is only a tiny sneak peek into our Dental Assisting - Assist with Composite Restoration module." We provide very rich simulation-based modules, which include not only a full video of the procedure but also simulations, text, anatomy and quiz. This 3 minute video clip is just a teaser, so people know a little about what our company does. (You can check out a sample module with our 7-day free trial at simtics.com.)

      Hi there! We have two separate modules which cover Disinfection & Sterilization in the dental operatory, which is extremely important for every dental assistant to become expert in, to avoid pathogens being transmitted through bodily fluids like blood and saliva. Those two modules explain the typical cleaning requirements for all the equipment and instruments, and the routines required at the beginning and end of the day, as well as in between each patient.

    • @itszoeeyy3585
      @itszoeeyy3585 Před rokem

      U can do IPAC, if that’s not the most detailed version for sterilization I don’t know what is 🙂 Everything u need to know “mostly”, again somethings u will learn as you go there’s no way around it, it’s very detailed and if you like to tear yourself there are question. However you do that for a class so wait to do that or ask your teacher if you will be doing it (they will tell you to wait and you should, because u get certificate of completion for each module). Some offices ask for it as well (mine does) and you have to renew it every year but it’s really the same stuff.

    Um... the dentist doesn’t numb the patient first?!?! That’s gotta hurt. It’s actually the first step in a Composite filling. Well, wiping the gums is the first step, because it insures that the local anesthetic after giving a topical. You don’t just willy nilly start drilling on the tooth. 😳😂😄
