  • Despite the United States medical system doing its best to slow down the inevitable, I've been diagnosed with a stage 4 recurrence and will begin treatment this week.
In this stage 4 cancer vlog, I'll describe what the treatment plan is (PD-1 blockers for a year), what it might mean in terms of the short and long-term physical ramifications, and how I'm feeling at the moment.
Talking about cancer is always difficult, but I appreciate those of you who have been supportive in allowing me to express myself and help other patients and their loved ones through this platform.
    Talk to you soon.
    Byyyyyeeee ❤️

Walking a similar journey. You, too, are not alone. Meeting with oncologist and surgeon this week to get a plan together to beat this beast back into remission. Thanks for the vlog. You got this!

My spouse just had same diagnosis for an ancillary node. We have just met with top oncology team in Boston. We still need PET SCAN and Brain MRI but at this point considered local regional .
Keytruda with OPDIVO work better than either alone. Wish you the best, we are still in shock stage but look forward to learning from your past videos.
There is literature in the Journal “ Cell” that looked at what was different in stool analysis of those who had best response to immunotherapy. Those who had high levels of L. Reuteri ( in many otc probiotics) and fiber had best response. We will have second opinion at Dana Farber - lucky to be near academic centers.

I did Opdivo/Yervoy last year, and it was highly effective (albeit large side effects, and I guess if a tiny recurrence happened a year later, maybe not as effective as we thought). But theoretically, I was likely to have durable remission and just got a little unlucky. Thinking of you both, and I'm always here to chat ❤️

You are your best advocate, and you are always on top of what's going on. You could be a doctor yourself. This sounds pretty good Mike, considering. Like always, you got this buddy.

I’m so glad you have options🙏🏻praying for your recovery…….i just want to say that I had done a trial of three cycles of immunotherapy then surgery then back to immunotherapy….during that time I was on a strict intermittent fasting protocol …strict diet and supplements….and my tumor was growing bigger and bigger…I was so scared….im so grateful to my surgeon who removed the tumor in my neck….

Thanks for sharing - I think it's important to give examples of things that work and don't work so that we can let others remain objective. I've gone into remission for 5 years while not watching my diet at all. I've been in remission for over a year with a stricter lean. I'll report on what happens here, but mainly, it's good that other people can hear the voices of patients who are going through it. Cheers ❤️

Rooting for you man! I hope your treatment goes super smoothly!
Looks like you're mentally prepared and have a well-thought out treatment plan, so that's good.
You're doing a good thing by making these videos, I think.
Lots of useful information on how medical treatment works, even though I can't say I fully understood it all.
I do think you're likely helping those suffering from similar issues find some comfort and not feel as alone, like you wanted to accomplish, as well.

Mike, it all sounds like you got your shit together, once again. The amount of research and staying on top of things that you do is definitely an asset. You have good reason to be optimistic. I'm still following your journey, and praying for you

Trying! Each round of this is a little bit (ok, a lot) of uncharted territory, and I never want to be too overconfident... but learning about this stuff seems to help me cope with and perhaps give myself the best chance. Appreciate you following along and thinking of me ❤️

Hello I watched your other videos..this one like others I have enjoyed as well
I was diagnosed with leukemia T-PLL the worst kind..200 people only a year get this.Anyway I have been thru infusions and each time it is less affective.I relate to this video very much.We can create sophisticated weapons and kill each other..but no cure for cancer..amazing

Well, bleh to our respective diagnoses, but it is indeed amazing that we're here talking about them. I hope that we're able to stick around as treatment advances and we might be able to ward this off for longer or even permanently. Thanks for sharing 💜

    Oh Mike,
All stuff you never wanted to know, all stuff you never wanted to do in your entire effing life. Just like in those Shingrix commercials, it's hard to accept that cancer doesn't care. It's hard to accept that another whole year of daily treatment is required. It's hard to accept that they have to cut you or radiate you or poison you. You did nothing to deserve this, but cancer doesn't care.
We're all pulling for you. Hopefully the side effects won't kick in for a few weeks. Stay positive.

I hear nothing even close to stupid coming from you, in fact just the opposite. I agree with everything you have to say, and most especially about preparing your body for what is to come.
May you be pleasantly surprised by a lack of treatment side effects. Cure is the word. Take care, Mike.

Love the snazzy haircut...suits you! Listened to you carefully - dr william Li a Harvard doctor, speciality in health and cancer and created devices/ medications and is an author. He is a scientist. If you get a chance, google him. Love from jhelum Punjab Pakistan 🇵🇰💕

There must've been devine intervention when I came across a Dr Li interview. In it he explains how a bacteria called akkermansia greatly enhances immunotherapy. Something as stupid as pomegranate juice may have been lifesaving for me. I suppose I should send him a thank note huh?

@@bulkypug3811 that's exactly where I am coming from - simple things like a healthy gut microbiome LITERALLY make the difference between life n death....three teas - matcha, pu err and roi Bois, infused with a drop of bergamot, brassica/ cruciferous vegetables, anti inflammatory diet, tumeric, garlic, flaxseed.... There has been a WEALTH of scientific study into food/ herbs and cancer, all online....Dr Li speaks sense- and it's all AFFORDABLE 🌹
