  • Hi friends! I'm on the 20 day countdown until moving day, so I thought I'd share another Membership tutorial with you! This is Kayla! A beautiful accordion prong gemstone pendant with a bit of wire weaving on the bale. There are two parts to this beautiful tutorial, I hope you love it!

    Hi Members! Here is Part 1 of Kayla. I show you how to measure for your prongs around the stone, how to make the Accordion prong strip using a FLAT NOSE plier, and then how to take it around the gemstone and weave the bale. This is most of it, but I will have more in Part 2 for finishing a gorgeous pendant using this technique.
    I am using a Hydro Quartz gemstone (lab grown)... you can use any oval, round or teardrop shape stone cabochon for this wrap. I showed a Star Ruby in your Members post so you could see both a Faceted gemstone as well as a Cabochon.
    My stone in this video is 3/4 inch long and 1/2 inch wide.
    The wires I'm using to make the accordion prong is 13 inches off 20 gauge, round, soft copper wire. The main frame wire is 14 inches of 18 gauge, round, soft copper wire. The weaving wire is 28 gauge and you can have about 10 feet on-hand in a wire bobbin or main spool. We use about 3 to 4 feet for the bale weave, then we also use another couple of feet per side to tie the back wires up.

    I did something very similar a few mos ago. I used two sets of prongs, with two center wires. Someone on my fbook pg accused me of copying. My response was: prong settings date back 5000 yrs before the Phonecians 😊 we should thank our ancestors. 😊

      How rude of them! You are correct, thank the Ancestors! ❤️❤️🙏 Tons of us use these prongs, all in our own way. Thanks for watching DD!

      @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry 'we all learn from eachother. We wouldn't share free tutorials if we didn't learn unique techniques to accelerate our journeys in this Ancient Art. ✨️

    That is fantastic. I've practiced prongs with the cleo design. Now I'm trying to think what I can use for my stone. I don't have any of these bigger lab created stones yet. I will be getting some cause this is so beautiful. Thank you!

      Awesome! This works great with flat back cabochon also, I showed a little Star Ruby in one of the Membership posts. ;) But the big gems are fun!

      I did not find my answer in the Tools video. Specifically, at time stamp 8:01 of Kayla Part 2, you use a black and blue plier with a narrow end, and I wish to know the brand.

    • @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry
      @PerfectlyTwistedJewelry  Před rokem

      It is this specific plier, it is a Beadsmith plier, I hope that helps!
