    Tez!!! So, I watched your celebration video the other day-- One Year Anniversary! And announcing 50K subscribers! That's incredible! And as I watch this today, you're at 53.9K! Another 3K bump from the other day. You're out of control, my man! (In a good way-- don't "reign it in"!) You're storming this beast, quietly and with understated stealth-- quite the gob-smacking, though. Well done! Helps that you're comfortable in front of the camera (well, very nearly comfortable!) Hah! I'm thrilled for your unprecedented success, keep taming the YT beast with your style and excellent groundwork. Love ya, man!

    10:51 Also look up Sergey P. Gorsky, he was a Imperial Russian chemist that built a special projector to show his photos that were shot in the same fashion.
    It was still used in the 90s with monochrome webcameras or just plain b&w film cameras, using rgb filters you'd get colour composite photograph.

    Here in the Puget Sound area of Washington State we have an Interstate Highway project that just wrapped up after 22 years... It's like the opposite of these wonderous stories, where somebody could have started as a young engineer on the project and spent their entire career on it, haha.

    Cheers Tez! Great video, as always. In watching it, especially the recap, I was reminded of a video idea from my original viewing. There are MANY strange happenings surrounding Edison, that always wound up benefiting him; deaths, lost or destroyed property, campaigns to smear a competitor... Might be very nearly interesting!!
    By the way, I was thinking you might need to pop over to the states for research. You could fly into DFW and I can take you down to Austin to see the plate of view from the window at le gras!! Sounds like great fun!

      Hi Carl! Thanks so much for your lovely message - definitely visiting the worlds first photo in Austin needs to go on my bucket list. Maybe I should do an Edison video … I’ll have a think about that. Thanks again for your comment and see you soon, Tez

    Camera Obscura was already in use around 470BC in China, though not by that name, according to Wikipedia! The whole subject is really very interesting. Thank you for the journey to the past.

    Absolutely fascinating and not nearly but very interesting!!!! The photograph of the Duke of Wellington from 1844 is well worth a look, I would argue the most famous person from history to be first photographed.

    Great video, very interesting. I'm just wondering why you missed out Henry Fox Talbot, is it because he didn't improve much in the scale of things?

    • @verynearlyinteresting

    Just saw this very interesting video three months after it was released. My question is when did people start doing death photography. Mostly children( that I’ve seen). I understand photography was very expensive, and usually this was the only photo families had of their children.

    • @verynearlyinteresting
      @verynearlyinteresting  Před 8 dny

      It’s not something I’ve looked into in great detail but my understanding is that death photography was popular way before the ‘Daguerrotype’ because long exposure times weren’t a problem. I’m pleased you enjoyed the video Lynn. Tez

    Why is everything so sketchy that has something to do with Thomas Edison.
