Much Love to Brazil from western Germany 🎉❤
Is there still east Germany in your parallel universe?
Brazil car culture is so unique, I went there last year, and I really enjoyed looking at their cars, amazed some do drive around incredibly low, I just assumed they all had air suspension, I'm actually amazed to learn some are fixed that way! we used to have a Saveiro and a Gol in my dad's business around 2004-05 (they sold them here in Mexico as Pointer and Pointer pick up) so the Gol was one of the first cars I drove, always thought it was weird they had a longitudinal engines, but they were quite a workhorse, basically will go for ever with dirt cheap parts.
Yeah, air suspensions are costly. With the bad pavement here combined with speedbumps, some lowered cars go around scraping everywhere. czcams.com/users/shortsvKtaskvaqqo
Almost ALL are fixed
the mk4 golf you showed at 4:00 is actually what we call an mk4,5 golf. We didnt officially get mk5 golfs here so this is what they did to "update" the car without actually importing the new version that was being produced everywhere else (mk5). we also didnt get the mk6 here, after that golf you showed the newest one we got was mk7
True!!
In South Africa we had golf 3.5 golf 3 cabriolet with a golf 4 front. And our golf 1 outlased the golf 5 😅
It is gratifying to see that our automotive culture is appreciated outside of Brazil
We have our characteristics and it's cool to see how people around the world also appreciate this culture.
The love for cars here in Brazil is huge and I recommend everyone to come visit us and learn a little more about our culture.
Brazil is and will always be open to receive new people interested in our country!
I LOVE those little UTE style Saveiro's! Such interesting and different cars compared to Europe, cant wait for part two!
My mom had a Gol Bola and I had a Gol Copa (G4) and a Gol Power (G5), my brothers had a Polo Sedan and my father had a Tucson (IX35) but he bought a Saveiro to use it for "work", like buying things that would damage our cars as wood or garden stuff to our house. It's so cool to see this type of video that makes us proud of our industry. They were all very good cars I loved them!!
Tip to tell the air cooled from the water cooled Gols apart, the air cooled ones are the only ones with the small square headlights and blinkers on the bumpers, the water cooled ones have more retangular headlights and the blinkers beside them in the corners
Cool
Also adding to this, you can just look in the grill, if you see the fan for the engine it’s air cooled
Some explanations (complementing the Gustavo Lima comment):
1- the 'chora boy' name, come from a situation when a hard worker guy (not rich), with his old or cheap lowered car take a nice girl of a party with him, instead of she go with a rich, (playboy) guy, so: "cry boy (playboy), that it's fixa (static suspension)" came in form of a frase, that this guys written in the fenders. Today, this term it's used sometimes in a pejorative way, but not necessary.
2- the lineage of VW Gol is separete in 6 "generations" (but actually 3 real generations, with tones of facelifts).
G1: the Gol Quadrado (square) or Caixa (box)
G2: Gol Bola (ball)
G3: the first facelift of Bola (seemed in 11:40 in Saveiro variant)
G4: the second facelift of Bola (seemed in 22:23 as a Parati, in the special edition Track & Field)
G5: the third gen of Gol
G6: the facelift of third gen (seemed as the later Saveiros on video)
3- the sugarcane ethanol is in almost every gas station in the country. In some states, is cheaper to run in ethanol instead gasoline. Old cars camed in gasoline and ethanol versions and 2003 later, most cars is Flex Fuel, could run in gasoline, ethanol, or every porcentage both
4- the two doors cars was a preference in brazillian market. before 90's, the majory of cars were sold in 2 doors bodies, even station wagons and sedans
5- the Crossfox seemed in event, is a adventure edition of Fox. Consists in upper suspension, black bumper and offroad external acessories. no one camed with 4WD
if you have any questions, please reply this
thanks to show the brazillian culture to the world
Nice comment
And yes nice explanation

Not "seemed", dude
Its "seen"
@@SummonerArthur i'm never had english class, so i tried hard to written something that us understand to complement the video. sorry about that.
but, if you can read and understand about this theme, my mission is complete.
@@SummonerArthur porra e tu é brasileiro ainda? porque não explicou com o seu inglês lindo e impecável os pontos que citei? aparentemente os gringos entenderam oq eu quis dizer
Lots of brazil influence in the North American VW scene, at least there used to be. I haven't kept up with it the past decade.
Nice to see some brazilian cars culture "flying all over the world". Glad you did it, Jamie!
Im brazilian, my english sucks but ill try to help explaining some things.
Talking about statics: they are REALLY static, Not coilovers. Actually coilovers are not so popular arround here. Must people use to go air or static.
The mk4 jetta is actually called VW BORA, the same goes for the 5th gen.
The mk6 jetta is called jetta.
The mk1 gol is called "Gol quadrado" (Square gol), the gol bola is the g2 gol.. The other gols are called "gol g3 (Third generation), gol g4 and so on. The same goes for saveiro and parati.
The "chora boy" came from a simple sticker . Some people use to put it on really extreme lowered cars (on statics).. its like "cry me a river, cuz my car is lower than yours and you have no b*ls to do the same". These worlds are also used in "pejorative way" from people that doesnt like the style.
About the import laws:
Its REALLY expansive to import wheels and car parts. If a set of some wheels goes for U$1k on ebay , we have to pay 1k + 100% in taxes + shipping + credit card taxes + conversion... btw, 1USD = R$5,00 .. The brazilian made wheels are also expansive, one set of volcano 18" wheels goes for +/- 1k USD; they are not forged, not even light wheels.
18:10 this is "the genuine" mk1 gol. We call it "Gol BX". The first models had AIRCOOLED engines, later on they were mounted on ap 1.6 and 1.8 engines.
thank you for showing part of our culture! Its really expansive to mod cars arround here, even with brazilian parts, the basic salary is badly low and people keep working hard to drive this cars.
Obrigado!!!
Thank you for providing extra information. Im from europe and i want to learn more about brazillian car culture outside of jamie's videos, could you reccomend any good websites instagrams or yt channels to watch and follow?
@@mudkip863 Hi! i really dont know Brazilian yt channels that translate their contents with subtitles, its a shame . i cant recommend you www.youtube.com/@AndersonDick , hes the fueltech founder and show some brazilian projects

I'll have to correct you on one little small thing. The bora, is only the MK4 jetta, and we got an face-lift to the bora (mk4 jetta) to sell it along side the MK5 jetta, but we did in fact got the mk5 jetta, imported from Germany.
But the mk5 jetta in Brazil was only sold in the auto gearbox, with the 2.5 5 cylinder engine. As the sedan, and the variant models.
I own one lol
I don't know a lot about VW, but I learned a lot from this video. Love the level of knowledge you spit with no hesitation.
Sensacional evento no Brasil muito top 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷
Just wow, always something new to learn with VW’s new and old. Thanks for showing us around mate
The truck thing..er sorry Ute.
Damn it! Ever since you uploaded this video I've been trying to figure out where to get these Brazilian made wheels! Also can't find info on those wicked low profile tires. Hellllp!! We need these in USA!
Nas lojas aqui do Brasil você acha.

hello jamie orr, this Volkswagen gol bx in Gold color and equipped with a 1.6 air-cooled engine with double carburetion. the model is a bx 1984 snowflakes 17 wheels and the owner and my wife
Excellent video, enjoying the content. Cant wait for part 2!
Awesome video Jamie! Awesome to see the variations of VW cars👍👍
Yea due to the import tax, many companies here started making their own parts for our market. That's how companies like FuelTech, InjePro, MTR, Expert etc... came about.
Incredible event! Thanks for covering and showing the world one of Brazil's most beloved automotive scenes!
I wish we had VW meets like this in Colorado, the VW scene here is great but it's very small and for whatever reason the Subaru people in CO have some weird ass rivalry with us VW guys. (and no capybara obviously (unfortunately))
same rivalry here in Brazil. VW guys don't care about Subaru (some of them don't even know what a Subaru is) but Subaru boys hate the VW scene.
This show is a dream come true! I love capybara and Vw!
Part 2 looks sick, can't wait for it
THIS REPRESENTS THE CULTURE AND LOVES VOLKS AND FAMILY IN DIFFERENT PLACES IN THE WORLD. Came to Brazil and seems to be a simple person. Congratulations.

Jamie seja aempre bem vindo ao Brasil

You can see how proud she is at the end for driving os fixas, thats chora boy peak!
Excellent video, hello from Brazil 🙂👋
Haha muito legal ver um Gringo no Brasil! Esse estilo de carro rebaixado "Chora Boy... This "Chora boy" style of car is basically a car lowered as far as they can and with the biggest rims ever. There is plenty more in Brazil. This is just the tip. And here are a lot of Original Vw's, and heavily modifyed 1000hp ones too. I prefer the originals and the ones who are just slightly modded. Heavy mods or too low isnt my taste. Great video!
So: This VW convention was all about chora boy styles.
I recommend going to other car conventions if you can too, as there is plenty of cars you'll be amazed to see! Lots of GM's Fiats and Fords are wildly modifyed too! And some are sleepers, normals, wild hp's, and this goes on and on.
Two doors was a standard between the 70's and 90's as some said the kids in the back could fall off and the car could break in half because of the 4 doors. And that's why until the late 90's its rare to see 4 door cars. Mostly who used 4 doors cars in the 70's to 90's were taxi drivers!
Is nice to see some appreciation for the cars i dreamed as a boy, like the Gol GTi, was like a super car when I was a boy, forget about BMWs, the GTi was the hottest thing back in the early 90s, i still want one but they are super expensive.
I don't like the Brazilian style, they are too low for my taste but i respect if they like it.
Real work 😊😊😊😊😊😊
Welcome to brazil again bro..🇧🇷
Bgt, evento top !
100%!
@@JamieOrrHi Jamie, can you help me with something, is it possible to find NEW windows and doors rubber seal for Golf 2?

Fantastic!
Amazing Volkswagen Brazil
So cool!
We got those updated Golf/Jetta IV in Canada as Golf and Jetta "City". I always saw them for sale for like $1000 and kind of wanted one. If I got an IV, I'd probably consider one. Or even just swapping the front bumper/lights.
Awesome car show ! I hate how the weather can ruin such a fantastic turn out...wherever in the world us Vw nuts are ☔️☂️☔️☂️
Muito bom o vídeo.
Thank you for showing all the capybaras
It's really funny seeing ppl outside brazil trying to pronounce Portuguese words 🤭
Nice video btw!
people brief:
jamie - "bom dia" so fun
muito obrigado
in case you have trouble explaining to people outside what the culture is like here in Brazil, "chora Boy" is basically how you translated it in the video, Cry boy is basically making people who like to keep their original car cry anger for not being able to convince the crowd not to lower their cars
chora boy is basically a Brazilian version of the Stance but without the part of wheels with wide splints or camber and spacers, just the static car at the lowest possible height with splint wheel at most 7 or 6 with size 17+ for the who like big wheels reaching up to 18 in cars like Golf mk5-6 among others and wheels 20 to 22 splint 6 or 7 for SUV cars
thank you to make an video doing your best to explain our culture you're amazing
Sup?? The Santana was also made in Brazil, exported to China
Foi feito no Brasil, mas exportado pra china não sei..

the silver gol near the gti is not a regular gol too, it's the gol copa made in celebration of world cup
Right!
awesome
My dad had a Gol bola like the green one in the beginning the video. I learned how to drive on that car when I was 13. My whole family had VWs back then. I live in Canada and miss so much the VW culture. I drive a MK7.5 GTI manual.. I'll always be a VW guy. One day I'll bring a Gol to Canada to drive around 😎
I think some of those wheels would go down well in South Africa
thanks for explaining ,ive always wondered how the hell do they get their cars that low, what style or modification they use apart from just bagging it or colies.
showwwwwwwwwwww de video da hora di maaaais!!!!!!!!!!!!
we are waiting for part 2. where is it?
Nice!
Thanks!
Muito bom ✅
Those wheels are OEM+++
4:03 is that golf IV with golf V front?
Jamie knows South Africa very well.. we actually use to have the Caddy Mk1 citi golf UTE or bakkie or van its been discontinued for years and VW has left us with nothing .. definitely that orange Polo UTE would sell
Eis o comentário BR que vc estava procurando !
Obrigado e desculpe por não falar português (e sem legendas)

I'd love a set of 17" Orbitals for my New Beetle turbo
Its all about the AP 1.6 engine they put on the cars back in a day able to hold up to 2pounds of turbo presure
I think " Chora boy " is more in the sense of : "boy" being a short version of a "playboy" which here means a spoiled man, or rich , and they will sometimes complain or diss the realy low cars , so is more like keep criyng boy , we will drive our cars like that , so Chora Boy ( cry boy ) . Btw awesome video , so good to see you in Brasil enjoying our culture .
Makes sense
Where is the VDUB Campfest video
First cool video
First!
Águas de Lindóia is a Springs town. Essentially a small tourist bound town where elderly folk go for rest and undergo water treatments of some sort for gout , arthritis , kidney stones.
So these car meets are meant to boost visitors to come , as lodging and restaurants benefit from this kind of activity. The town is nested at the border of São Paulo and Minas Gerais States.
VWs are and we’re favored amongst Brazilians for decades for their nameplates reliability , and affordability. Cars loaded with features don’t do well in Brazil, as Brazilians are price conscious, and by and large will buy the stripper , if in a payment plan budget. Car ownership entails the most afficionados to spend money on customization.
Also, there is no salt in the roads , so , in between simplicity and the elements cars will last longer
Why can’t we get the Volkswagen Up here in the USA?
5:28 that is a third gen Gol, probably from 2000 until 2006/7
hi,
what car is the red one frame 17.44 ?
looks like a long roof polo ;)
thanks
It's a Parati. The same on frame 19:48
Essas capivaras por aqui também são conhecidas como Spim !
De alguma forma eu sempre tenho o espanhol 'carpincho' como minha primeira palavra
@@JamieOrr we love then, Chevrolet made in Brazil a car with the design based in the animal. It's called chevy Spin. Aleksandro was saying that
@@JamieOrr It´s a joke, man. There´s a Brazilian Chevrolet minivan named Spin, but people decided to call it "the Capivara" because, well... they´re really lookalikes, especially the MK1.
ok i pull up
Weird question, but I can't get the idea out of my head. How much, if you know, would it hypothetically cost to import a set of 17" 5x100 Orbitals replicas from Brazil and how would I go about it? They really are great looking wheels IMO.
Less than a $1.000 a set plus shipping and import taxes
A definição de chora boy é essa mesmo Jaime 🤝
14:15 actually china manufactured the very next gen of this model in the video (gen 2), santana's gen 1 is an cheaper version of gen 2 german passat, and gens 2 and 3 are brazilian projects. around 2010 the santana went discontinued in brazil at gen 3, but vw china bought the project and kept manufacturing it for 4~5 plus years, they even made an facelift version that the brazilian market never saw. ive heard the chinese just love the santana's as city cabs, curiously most of cabs in late 90's and early 2000's were santanas here in brazil
another curious fact: in the last 3~4 years before the fall of the imports block (1992), this car was the best and most expensive car you could ever get in brazil.
the only way you could put your hands on an foreign car here at the block decades was having an embassador on your friends circle, only they had permit from the government to bring in cars from out of here, and thats how some richies had their mercedes at the time
I was in South America a few years ago and I saw those modern Saveiros in single cab with a longer bed. Too cool wish we had them in NA: czcams.com/video/G46m2ae08FQ/video.html
Im pretty sure the first cars you talk about is not golf's ???
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE build a VW Gol for campfest 2k25 perhaps a Gol G2,that would really be something different.
The rubber band tires don't really look very nice.
It is an 'acquired' taste, but necessary for the height look.. :-)
@@JamieOrr True. I guess I'm more into functionally first.
@@300ZCorradoVR6Z Yeah, it's just impractical, but it's how things are done here. The roads aren't even good for such low rides, I have seen a few crab walking to overcome a speed bump.
The scene has seen more air suspension technology and also more foreign influence on builds over the last few years, though
I dont like chora boys but I respect them.
Brasil real tuning fork 🍽️
i have a 412 wagon on bags and old spokes. i call it the missing link as it sits between the boxy and curvy vws. but yea nobody wants to hang out
There are also crazy guys who cut the car floor and weld higher up to be able to ride very low and not hit the ground.
