Honestly, Sharon still til this day has the most angelic voice I've ever heard. It's unbelievably pure.

Yes totally agree. She is my favorite singer. Sharon has this unique aura to her voice that can be so melodic but also very powerful. She is all in one singer.

PS: have you ever wondered why there is no word for it in English? I refer to one of the main topics: the short-lived nature of everything. In German Vergänglichkeit, but there are many other languages that have a word for it as well.Some countries celebrate the blossoming of short living flowers others like to keep their ruins as is, as a reminder that all beauty and grandeur are only temporary.

John Jacobs I actually asked an American about the word, but you are right. I would say in German the word is used more often but still infrequently. However, it is more present in their mind regarding their nostalgia and romanticism. Americans on the other hand seem to live more in the present.
Germans have a habit of reminding their kids that everything has it's end (except for the sausage which has two). I guess it's due to their long history with wars and diseases. It might have started with the Baroque era thinking of the omniprescence of skulls in art and the totentanz (remember we were what you are and we are what you'll be)

In 2012 my elderly father of 87 years old suffered several strokes back to back that left him on life support. We as a family together decided to let him go after several tests were run on his brain that showed he had no brain activity. It was the hardest thing I had ever been a part of and was the ugliest thing to witness. It was so painful I literally listened to the song several times remembering all the memories I had of my father. On Monday April 29th 2024 I lost a person I loved dearly like a sister who lost a hard fight against cancer. We knew each other over 20 years we knew each other's family kids parents and so forth. I had a beautiful relationship with her she called me brother I called her sister but she was so much more than that to me she was my strength my moral support. I suffered a spinal cord injury 7 years ago and went through a hard time emotionally, mentally, and spiritually but Susie helped me through when no one was there to give me support. When she came down with cancer she continued to be my support and I gave her the support she deserved from me. We loved each other very much so I'm back to listen to this beautiful song and think of the beautiful memories I have of my beloved sister

Depends on your view on things. I have a lot of memories of my ex-girlfriend that broke up with me in May, but I still consider them happy memories. Because I can remeber all the love and care I got from her and how happy I was. And I am not thinking about how lonely I am now, I just dont let it get to me. You can sort of decide to be happy, does not work 100% but you can be happier if you just decide you want to be that.

Ich bin fast 60 und diese Musik ist das was mich viele Jahre durch das leben gebracht hat. Ich bin keine Frau die sich in den Stuhl zurück legt. Nein ich bin jemand der weiter leben will, und das leben weiterhin jeden Tag genießen möchte. Darum achtet auf uns, den älteren. Die euch so egal geworden sind. Oder vielen egal geworden sind. Es wäre schön wenn ihr Within Temtation das Video vielleicht wieder neu aufnehmen würdet.

Because pop culture doesn't advertise hidden jewels for the most part the best talent goes unrecognized, and unless you dig for it you may never be exposed to it. There are tons of bands out there like Within Temptation that blow away all the popular bands by comparison. Just gotta look for them.

This songs holds special meaning for me. I first came across this song after being introduced to the band from the first song I heard from them, which was "Angels" and both are some of my favorites.
One night, some years back, while at work at the juvenile center, overnight, I was suddenly compelled to sing this song 'Memories' out of nowhere, and I had no idea why. I didn't want to wake the kids up tho so I merely hummed it out loud for about 20 minutes straight, continuing to feel compelled to do so. It felt like something had happened tbh. Then, I finally got my 15 minute break and, like clockwork, as soon as I got outside and my phone was turned on (we were not allowed to carry them on us while in the building), my mom called me. She told me my grandma had passed away, about 30 minutes prior. The timing did not feel like a coincidence and ever since then, I associate this song with my grandma, who I did not get a chance to see when I had moved out of town to be with my then-fiance at the time, for about a decade, due to driving issues and finances.
Thank you for creating such beautiful music with your angelic voice and the amazing band, Sharon! This one will always be one of my favorites!

Hits differently when I’m almost going to university and I look back; I see all of those hard and good times I’ve had through all of these years. I see all of those times I fell in love, i felt bad or good with myself, all the things I’ve learnt, all the people I’ve know, and how I always was like questioning everything because I wanted to know how everything worked (what initially motivated me to study physics). I remember seeing their album one day in Hot Topic. Under my father’s leash, we could never really enjoy the freedom to actually buy it... when a friend introduced the band to me, it was through another of their songs (Angels). And I was such in awe.
Later on, while absorbing more of their songs and videos, I saw the album from years before, the one I had wanted to buy... “The Heart of Everything”....
and although back then, I didn’t fully grasp a “whole” understanding of English, I had already fallen in love with them. Conscious me didn’t know, but my other side, was all over them since then. I’m so happy and thankful I have the friends I have. Even if they’re far away now, even though some are gone now... these songs, helped me grow and cherish those moments with them. From high school into adulthood and motherhood, to new moments shared with my son. Pass down the generation’s most awesome finds ✨and gifts 🎁 🎶🥳🥰 Love them ❤️ and I hope they are well ❤️❤️❤️
