Outstanding performance from these Meiji guns, mate! Personally, I think the finishes are up there compare to the top guns such as Sata X5500, DV1 and etc.

@@peteshobbies5383 They are bargains given the price and I realised that these side cup type spray guns are very popular in Japan.

Look like nice guns.
Just basecoated a tank with a Sata minijet 3 hvlp no overspray, as in none.
Where as my Sata RP 1.3 full size gun coats the whole room/ booth.
To me that is an important choice too.
Trash the room/ booth or not trash.
Thanks buddy, they really are so well made, a joy to hold and use, yes, some of the bigger guns can throw out lots of overspray, it's a big drawback for me with the DV1 Clear gun, the Sata 5000b also, I find the 5500x better in that respect 👍

@vonovine Hope you like it, I find it's a more sanitised version of the 5000, a bit slower, a bit quieter and less overspray, I prefer the O pattern to the I pattern for clear but they are both good and there's little in it to be fair, be interesting to see what you think 👍

Pete looks more like a Kawasaki ninja 650 green nice colour through on the left hand side of the petrol tank
Hi Mate, This is a Mercedes colour, Hell Mango Green. It does look like the Kawasaki Green, the Kawasaki Green is normally a 3 stage colour, it is nice though mate 👍

Really interesting experiment with the different colour primers Pete it does make a huge difference but they both look nice, I had a look in the Kapci software and the Merc 6376 Green Hell Magno is suggesting a Grey primer 🤔🤷♂️
Those guns do look well made and are a very nice design, I was surprised that they used a 1.6 for clear but it laid it down very nice mate from what I could see the finish is just as good as any other gun, it would be good to see a direct comparison of the Meiji and maybe a GTI ProLite or something similar when laying the clear.
I hope to be posting another vid later mate and you might like this one as it's the Aston AST5024D Purple Rain and the Kapci 6030 which I have found the limit of how heavy you can lay this clear 🙄😒😂
Hi John, I guess different paint companies stipulate different things, this has a label on it that says must go over a white, I have others that say the same.
Will keep an eye out for your post mate, sounds good as i do like a nice purple, I was experimenting with the Kapci clear yesterday and I'm again surprised by how good it is, haven't found the limit yet but it really doesn't need more as i was getting a cracking finish, having played with the Upol for years it really has been an eye opener, I think i will still use the Upol for comparisons on videos because it's not fair to compare new guns on a better clear if that makes sense, cheers buddy 👍
Hey Pete, yeah it's often down to the different paint manufactures to find the best colour primer to get the correct colour when using their formula but with colours like the Green Hell which have limited opacity it will be a lighter colour.

Hi Pete, I have an old Star-S710 1.2mm with the side cup and being a lefty it does not bother me, sprays 2K clear at 2 bar realy nice and flat, better than my ANI R150, the side cup can be a pain in tight spaces but makes up for it when doing a lot of painting with the gun pointing up or down as you can just tilt the cup
Hi buddy, that's interesting, I know a few left handers have said they don't like it but obviously that's not the case with all then, I'm the same as you, I really like the ability to spray at what angle is needed especially easy with some of the free angle cups that are made, thanks again mate 👍
Morning Pete, wow the difference the base coat makes really is night and day I appreciate you doing this comparison, I wonder if my “professional” repair on my rear bumper of my Passat is visually darker than the rest of the car I should have told them to do it again really. At first I thought the guns was full size until you said they was a mini gun and when you started to use them. They give a lovely finish though.

Hi Steve, yes, quite a difference isn't there, it's quite often the case that a repaint will look slightly different to the existing panels if just that panel is done, it happens at the factory as well, take a look at peoples front and rear bumpers on new cars and there's sometimes a difference as the car body is often sprayed in a different place to the bumpers.
A good paint shop should be able to adjust the factory colour to match existing paint work or they blend it to existing paint but the means going into the other panels which costs more time so money, have a good weekend too mate 👍

Hey Pete the Meiji brand definitely makes a high quality gun, I personally have the previous B model with 1.6 tip and really liked the way it sprays but it just felt unbalanced for me painting a vehicle with. That’s why I want to try the Meiji finer core full size centre cup gun I’m thinking would probably go for the 1.5 HTE setup.
Hi Spiro, yes, they are certainly very well made, I am new to the Meiji brand but really can't understand why they aren't more prevalent.
I like the idea of getting the Finer Core but they are quite expensive so will hold on for a wile i think, I'm not sure what sizes they are available in but I wonder if 1.5 may be too big on a full size gun for clear anyway?, I'm assuming the full size will displace more air so draw much more material through which might be a bit much for what i do
Hello Pete, hope you are well mate, that was quite a difference in the final colour but I guess that’s to be expected , I’ve mostly only ever used a light grey primer which seems to be good for what ever colour goes over the top , I am for the first time using a black epoxy primer on some window trims which are being sprayed satin black so it made sense to get black primer but those guns look like they are very decent
Hi Roger, yeah, a light grey will cover most things really, I have some paints, yellows, light blues and some greens that should go over a white, they are very good guns and particularly well made especially considering there price, cheers buddy 👍
Thanks for the presentation and overall pointing me in the Meiji direction. Also I am almost biting the bullet on a side cup model for the first time in my life so fingers crossed I get accustomed to it. Being a beginner, it's probably a learning curve but also a smaller unlearning curve at the same time.
What I wanted to ask is if the DeVilbiss Neptune cup is interchangeable with any of the Meiji Finer Force or Finer Core? Thanks again 🙏
Hi Alex, You're welcome buddy, you won't be disappointed. They work really well and are extremely well made.
I don't think you will notice the side cup, I completely forgot it most of the time and only realise again when I want to adjust the cup angle sometimes, something you obviously can't do with a top cup.
The Finer Core and Neptune are both top cups and are interchangeable. They are the same thread as the Devilbiss Gti Pro Lite, so loads of cups and adapters about.
The Finer Force are, of course, side cups. These are the same as the Iwata Kiwami1, W101, etc, basically a 1/4" BSP thread so readily available. I hope that helps 😀

I initially watched your review of the Neptune before 100% deciding on that deal. Not so many sources around so also greatly appreciated but now I am left with only one slight decision management. Obvious choice would be to purchase the Finer-Force B for clear in addition to using DeVilbiss for base. Only reserves I have are about my technique, or lack thereof, in handling the spray without running the clear. And if perhaps I should go for the R for now?

@alexivan3911 If you are new to spraying, I would suggest getting a pair of Meiji Finer Force guns and finding your feet with them, so to speak.
They are probably all you will ever need and will last you years

PETE, IS THE B VERSION OK FOR SOLVANT BASE ? .. AND MY SECOND QUESTION IS, WOULD YOU CONSIDER THE B TO BE GOOD ON LOW CLEAR OVERSPRAY? ,IT LOOKS LIKE LOW OVERSPRAY ON YOUR VIDIO ,BUT ITS HARD TO TELL JUST BY WATCHING YOUR VIDIO ? THANKS PETE
Hi Randy, Yes, the B can spray solvent base coat, although you may want to back off the material a little.
I can't say it's particularly low overspray , it's not high, but it's not noticeably low for that size gun

Hello again Pete. What would you recommend the best mini gun for your money? I would just like to have one gun to do everything. I’m restoring an old lawnmower I really don’t wanna buy multiple guns.
I'm working on a top 12 mini gun video at the moment and obviously value for money is a big consideration, I have always said the ANI R160 is probably the best VFM mini gun but recently I've had a problem with one of mine which was just poor engineering, not the end of the world but its really annoying, so as your asking me now I would still say the ANI R160 but with less conviction than before, another is the Iwata Airgunza AZ4, if your budget is only small the ANI GF3 is ok and only around £30 in the UK, I still rate the Pro lite S Devilbiss but that's a fair bit more money

Hi Ken, it is the smallest fan of the four in this range, but only by a little, it's smaller but it's slightly wetter

Meiji say around 9" , that's at a distance of 8" from the work @ 29psi, I would say it's a little smaller but certainly bigger than 6"
