Griffey still to this day is my favorite player ever. His swing was so natural and flowing. Best swing ever imo also. Glad he came to Cincinnati at the end so I could watch him hit some of his HRS live. Amazing
35 HRs at the break. He could've broken the HR record that year, without cheating, had he stayed healthy. Oh what could've been. Still one of the greatest.
This HR derby win was especially impressive when you consider who he had to go up against. Jim Thome, Mark McGwire, Alex Rodriguez, and Rafael Palmiero.
Man this was the year! We had season tickets to the Mariners this year, we had the 2 leading home run hitters in the AL, and every little league team in America had someone trying to swing like Griffey. 90s baseball was some of the best years of my life.
When I was growing up, every kid on the playground put their hats on backwards after the Derbys to emulate Griffey. He was everyone's favorite player. Would be awesome if a Tatis or Ohtani can capture a generation in that same way.
a homerun every 7 at-bats. How did no one figure Mark may have been juicing? Every time I see that overlay in these older events/games, I ask "really? No one thought that was suspicious?" That stat is INSANE. Should have been tested immediately.
This goes without saying but Ken Griffey Jr has the most aesthetically pleasing swing of all time.

Watched for griffey highlights, ended up watching the whole thing! The 90s were amazing.
Griffey was just such a cool cat, walk's in with that swag and his hat backwards lol legend
Jordan with the hoop earring and championships, Griffey with the natural swing and swag 90s sports sure was something

The ovation McGwire got was amazing. It’s easy to forget how much the fans loved him back then.

My gosh i miss 90's baseball
As a kid this was my favorite year such an amazing time.
God take me back. The 90s was an amazing time to be alive, not only for baseball fans, but all sports fans. The world seemed better too.
My boy and I lived at the Kingdome during the Griffey Jr years! So great!
Griffey jr, to me is the most talented player ever. If he could've stayed healthy later in his career he would have most of the records.
My god the throw back to late 90’s world cup with young Ronaldo!
Bro Griffey has so much swagger I watched his intro a few times lol

Watching J-Rod smash some homeruns in this derby makes it feel like we are watch Griffey again!!
