I've been a full time professional photographer for over 50 years, and started teaching in 1988. Boy, things were different then. But, my studio was always on the "bleeding edge" of technology, all along the way. In our lab, in our camera room and in our sales. I started with the very first PS around 1991 and was fully digital and "filmless" in Jan1999. Built a large private, digital lab in 2001 and have been going and going ever since.
I love sharing what I've learned, so we launched this channel to do just that. That's my only true motivation. Giving back.

Hi Tim! FYI.....Adorama has a store brand called "Flashpoint". It's the exact same thing. It's made by Godox, just rebranded. The significant difference is that service and support is provided by Adorama, who are STELLAR at customer service. Additionally, I have their speedlights, monolights, etc. with built in R2 receivers, and Lithium Ion batteries. The r2 works across the entire Flashpoint product line, which eliminates the need for mounting the receivers onto the speedlights. They also have the receivers available for mounting onto non flashpoint brands. Additionally, I have the flashpoint single point transmitter/receiver, which, when in the camera shoe, allows me to take the R2 Pro MkII controller off camera and use it to remotely trigger both the camera and flashes while walking around the set (Im a lone ranger with no assistants). That allows me to set up and take some shots on set without a model (or helper) while moving lights, etc to get my lighting set the way I want it. I shoot tethered when I do this, so I can see the shot in the computer screen from my position near the light that I am moving. It's VERY convenient. ALSO, try the R2 Li-ion ttl speedlight. Not only does it have receiver/transmitter built in, but the rechargable Lithium Ion battery lasts FOREVER before needing a charge. I'm a photographer, which means I don't make a lot of money (How do you get a photographer off of your porch??.................pay for the pizza!! lol) but these things are cool
My new direction is in outdoor studio portraits because of Covid...I really do think we're going to be in this for a lot longer time than we hoped. I'm gearing up for wireless Photography, totally. Speedlights ARE the thing for me, along with modifiers. I want gorgeous outdoor portraits with studio lighting, not just on-camera flash nor only available light. I'm seeking a niche in my town, and I think it's going to rock!!! I'm all about beauty portraits for women, so you see why I need GOOD
lighting.

I was about to mention splitting the blocks in the S2 head but I see that dgevert has already mentioned it. In addition I find that mounting the V1 speedlight at 90 degrees to the way you have mounted it (ie 90 degrees to the way you would mount a conventional flat speedlight), gives you a deeper parallel section to clamp on. Easier, more secure and allows more of the head to protrude if required, for gell's, modifiers etc. The S2 adapter is a big improvement on the old version and essential for V1 owners IMHO. I have a big collection of Bowens mount modifiers, it's great to be able to use them on the V1's on location as well as on my studio strobes. Keep up the good work Tim.

Tim thanks for the new direction with Godox and going lighter on location. I have been using the ad200 and other stuff. I am ordering my new brackets today. In a future episode can you address or show the umbrella style modifiers like a rectangle softbox and the ad200

Those things have modeling lights? !! I got thousands poured into Elinchrome Rangers. With today’s cameras ability to go high iso with good results these little low powered speed lights no need for 1200ws. I’m always dialing my Elimchromes all the way down and pilling on ND!
The modeling light on the V1 is VERY dim. It's not enough really.

You'll center your round head flash better in the S2 bracket if you only remove the first of the two removable blocks. The second block should be removed if you're going to use the S2 bracket with an AD400 Pro.

this is gonna be a great update compared to my SB910s, and the fact that I dont have to attach a trigger and the godox xpro is compatible with V1 and any godox flash head like QS, SK, AD series is very handy, I guess we have a great ecosystem here. Some say V1 is not a very durable flash, well... after my experience with 910 (I have 3 of them) and the service costs you just buy a new V1 instead. Also these smart foldable softboxes by godox made my life way easier, Im a food photographer and I carry 2 80X80 with me every day.
I do hear servicing is a problem. Nevertheless I have four of them. I understand purchasing from Adorama(?) the comparable Flashoint branded does get better warranty or service. Don't hold me to that. I have no experience with it.
I'm excited about this series. I am really interested to see how well you handle the cheap, portable, non-traditional studio lighting that WE use every day. Is it Tim? or is it Memorex?...lol
So far I'm mostly impressed.

Yes and yes. It's got a modeling light and a full powered flash.
Great video! I’m a new sub and I just bought two v1’s but I’ve had a problem linking the via my pro2 trigger. I suspect I need to put on in slave but I’m not sure. I don’t have that problem with my ad200 and 400 please help.

Hello, what is the internal diameter of the Godox S2? I have a METZ 76 MZ5. Thank You. Additionally, the Godox S1 has the Bowens and Elinchrom coupling; while the Godox S2 only Bowens
No idea. Believe it or not, I'm NOT a gear-hound. I use the same stuff that works for as long as I can - usually decades. I went to godox to make my location set up lighter and my audience loved it. I'm still just messing with it. I'm no expert on equipment - just how to use light and pose.
