    Davis, your video was very informative, thank you. Can you provide more examples of situations where the MECE principle might not be applied correctly, leading to confusion or errors?”

    • @myconsultingoffer
      @myconsultingoffer  Před rokem

      Incorrect application of MECE can cause issues. For instance, in customer segmentation, if you overlap age and income categories (Mutually Exclusive), a wealthy 25-year-old might be double-counted, skewing data.
      Conversely, if you miss a region in a global sales analysis (Collectively Exhaustive), your results won't reflect true performance. Hence, MECE's precise application is crucial for accurate problem-solving and decision-making.
      Keep watching for more insights, and don't forget to subscribe!

    Can you provide more examples of the X, Non-X’ technique? Apreciate how you explained the MECE principle here but I’ll need some more info please.

    • @myconsultingoffer
      @myconsultingoffer  Před rokem +2

      Absolutely! The 'X, Non-X' technique is an effective way of implementing MECE by simply dividing things into two categories.
      For example, in a car dealership, you might divide customers into 'Buyers, Non-Buyers', or products into 'Sold, Not Sold'. Similarly, for an email campaign, you could classify responses as 'Opened, Not Opened'. This helps in clear, binary analysis.

    How MECE can help when multiple variables such as geographical region and product type in the context of a business are used? Thank you!

    • @myconsultingoffer
      @myconsultingoffer  Před rokem +1

      Great question! You can use multiple levels in a MECE breakdown. For instance, you could break product sales down by geography, then within each geography, by product type.
      You could also go the opposite way, breaking them into product type then futher into geograhy. But how should you choose which way to break your list down? If I were looking into how to boost sales, I'd ask whether the client's sales were more dependent on geography or product type and use the more important one as the first level of the MECE breakdown.
      Example: sales for Starbucks. I'd break these down by geography first because Starbucks sells more of all products in North America where they are the dominent player in the market vs in China where there is more of a tea culture. Geography is going to be the more important level in the solution to this business problem. I'd use product type as the second-level breakdown.
      Hope this clarifies, keep your queries coming! Remember to like, share, and subscribe!

    How can I make sure that the MECE principle is maintained when dealing with vast data sets in a real-world consulting project?

    • @myconsultingoffer
      @myconsultingoffer  Před rokem

      Great question!
      To maintain MECE in large datasets, start by defining clear, non-overlapping categories (Mutually Exclusive) and ensuring all data points are covered (Collectively Exhaustive).
      Use data visualization tools for a broad overview, and data analytics tools for detailed validation. Regular audits can also ensure continued adherence to MECE. Keep exploring and improving, and remember to subscribe for more tips!

    a question, can the X and Non-X approach work for the 3 Products examples?>

    • @myconsultingoffer
      @myconsultingoffer  Před 4 měsíci

      The X and Non-X approach can be applied to three products by tailoring features specific to each product. Identify unique aspects (X) for each, and emphasize the absence or differentiators (Non-X) for others. It helps create a distinct identity for each product within a common framework. Try implementing it and let me know if you have any question. Good luck!

    MECE is a strategy for organizing and dividing things, such as ideas, people, and objects into groups that are distinct and comprehensive.
    - (ME)CE: Mututally exclusive- only fall under one category to avoid double count and skewing analysis
    - ME(CE): Collectively exhausted- everything is sorted under a category and none are left out, so your thinking is comprehensive
    Case Study:
    1. Break down case framework into products
    2. Break down each product's total costs and revenue
    3. Idenitify target audience
    4. Check for revenue potential and room for reducing costs for each product
    Identify X & Non-X to practice MECE
