  • In this video I give a quick review of the new Bailey Alicanto Series 2. With just two models in the range and both offering the same layout, let's see what the differences are between the single axle Lisbon and the Twin axle Porto.

    Yet another great insight to other caravans that sadly won’t fit on our drive, but non the less very informative so thanks again Dan for your efforts. By the way your secret is safe with us if it is what you want, we’ll done to you all you deserve it and it’s well earned.

    Thankyou for a great review Dan. It helped us in part to make the decision to order a Porto to replace our Grande Pegasus. After viewing the caravan at the NEC we agreed that it is one of the nicest caravans we have seen in a long while, and combined with a strong trade in value for our current model, we put pen to paper.
    For what it's worth, the dealer (speaking frankly after the deal was done) has said that the Porto in particular was selling incredibly well, and I can see why.
    I'd find it difficult to be without an eight foot wide caravan now, an opinion echoed by the wife, who remarks how every inch counts...

    Enjoyed all your videos since starting caravanning last year. Had 2 Bailey's already and were looking at this new Alicanto as the keeper but decided to go for the Cartagena. We just cant live with the cramped loo, 6-3 tall and the step shower....the step is thin and flexible so you cant step on it. The middle door soon became a pain as we tried out the Pamplona for an 8 day holiday. Swapped for the Cartagena that has the same layout as our original black edition Vigo, our kids have left home now so it suits us. Keep up the content, really enjoy it and hope you have many adventures to come.

    Hi Dan, this is van I have wanted ever since it first came out. I’m glad I waited now as this model is far superior to the original. Our new Porto is arriving in August 2022….can’t wait. Thanks for all your hard work in detailing each and every aspect of caravanning, it has helped us many times. Perhaps we need to set up a Porto club😀.

    Dan, that looks amazing. With the upgraded load capacity on the Porto it has removed one of our final hurdles to buying one.. just now need to find a way to export one to Germany. I'm looking forward to seeing yours when it arrives and your new adventures.

    Great review. Prefer the twin axle just because of the space in the washroom. The bed looks amazing and defo a selling point. The lights under the seats do look a bit tacky, the white light not so bad but multicolour - not for me.

    Love your videos, they have been so helpful, especially since we bought our first caravan last year. They have been so helpful. I have one question…. How do you clean under a factory fitted solar panel? There’s only about a couple inches of space and it is already looking green. Any tips?

    Good video Dan. Would have liked even more info as I can’t get to the show. However, it was enough to tempt me BUT if I got the twin axle I’d need a bigger tow car so it’s probably not going to happen.
    PS you are looking so well recently. Must have missed something but I assume whatever you have is responding to treatment. Good luck.

    Love Bailey Vans I have a minted 2011 Bailey Olympus twin axle with not a dent or scratch on it, has never gave me any trouble solid and robust. INTERIOR GRP WALL BOARDS LAST A LIFETIME.
    Not like the 2017 Lunar Venus I had which fell to bits roof leaked, panels separated , wall boards peeled off, front cracked ext ext. Light weight vans are dung shake to bits.

  • @totaltouring829

    Hi Mr T. We like this van. There has been a bit of thought gone into this build. Daft things, seating position, Wi-Fi, grooves/in worktop, wireless charging, proper wash basin, under the bed storage access, flush fitting windows. Only one criticism £. Bailey are sneakily putting these vans in the price bracket of the high end caravans . All in all BEauTiFul caravan.

    Very posh vans! But having only just upsized from a Freedom Sunseeker to a new to us Pageant 6 Monarch, these look mahoosive to me :) I have to agree and don't like the LED lighting so much. Maybe I can persuade my better half to have a look around if they're at the CCC show this year ;)

  • @arthurgaskell798
    @arthurgaskell798 Před 2 lety

    Both are large 8ft caravans with small beds. I don't consider 3 ft 9 or 4 ft wide to be a generous size for a double bed.. Similarly whilst the main bed is excellent at 5ft wide it is only a maximum of 6ft 3" long with substantial loss of area due to the rounded ends. Good video by the way Dan.

  • @chrisbward
    @chrisbward Před 2 lety +1

    Hi Dan, great summary of the new range, we have a 2020 Porto and after watching yours and the official Bailey videos, I personally wouldn't change at the moment, a shame really as we were waiting with anticipation over the last few weeks to see if it was worth upgrading but in our opinion, what Bailey have taken away such as the kitchen larder cupboard and wardrobe space for us outweigh the new additions in the bathroom and only an extra 2" on the bed width. Totally agree on the mood lighting, maybe I'm too old now but it's not for me either.
    Would be interested to know your view, I think self levelling would have been a major win for Bailey as some of the competition are adding E&P in this price bracket now so a little disappointed to not see the E&P as standard equipment, we added it to ours and it's like night and day :)
    I hope you get the new Porto and enjoy it, it does look a great van and you'll have no issue pulling it with the new tug, stay safe and well..

    Good video & review but think they have still missed the edge on luxury. Much prefer the Buccaneer Commodore which im due to take delivery next month. For £2,500 extra the Buccaneer includes E&P levelling & under floor heating & are built more solid than Bailey but each to their own i suppose . I had a Bailey back in 2003 Senator range & that was lovely.

    The payload on both these caravans are frankly scandalous. It is verging on mis-selling. Add a motor mover, extra gas cylinder, some bedding, a couple of pans, plates, cups and cutlery and you exceed capacity never mind a few necessary bits and bobs such as hitch lock, wheel lock, electric cable and so on.

    • @TheTrudgians
