Honeslty. I would have loved "Sea Lion" and then transition over to cetaceans.
macOS Dolphin, macOS Orca, or macOS Beluga. Would still fit with the "California Coast" theme they went with but stuck more close to the animal name legacy.

Fast forward to today, and we have macOS, iOS, ipadOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS.
He was talking about versions like Windows Starter/Home Basic/Home Premium/Pro/Entreprise/Ultimate... For Mac, you have macOS and that's it. The other devices have their own OS and that's normal, but no multiple variations of the same OS for the same device like Windows
This skips all the pre-OSX versions, of course, so it’s not nearly all of them
I was wanting to but it’s hard finding the keynote footage of those announcements and they get confusing but sorry if it was misleading

Most nostalgic versions? Early OS X (10.1, 10.2), Tiger 10.4, Snow Leopard 10.6.
They got the idea from deepin os from Debian base and mix kaylin os Ubuntu base and part of cutefish os and other linux distros.
Their single OS strategy is now a quad OS strategy - MacOS, iOS, iPad OS, VisionOS.
Actually, I forgot WatchOS - so it’s now a five OS strategy.
