    A lot of mezzos can also sing soprano range. Many singers can cover at least 3 octaves.
    I am a mezzo soprano, and I can sing the soprano range, and the alto range. However, my comfortable range is mezzo soprano. It is where I sound best.
    I think that situation is similar for a lot of mezzo sopranos.

    Any teacher who talks about Existentialism during a voice lesson and it’s not in a tangential way, has got to be the one for me :D

    I'm a lyric mezzosoprano too
    And this video is very useful for my daily routine!
    I just wanna extend my range more!
    After this I sang the "quia respexit" of the magnificat - JS Bach
    And it was very nice! Bravo maestro!

    there are different mezzos. Hazel is a lyric mezzo and she has some individual qualities that doesn't fit a common knowledge about range. Most of the vocal schools or even individual teachers never take in to consideration humans individuality and tring to fit them into their own created matrix system. The teachers you are talking about don't know a zilch about individual voices:)

    THIS YOUNG LADY HAS A LOVELY VOICE QUALITY, AND THE EXERCISES ARE WELL SUITED TO HER VOICE. I AM DISAPPOINTED IN A TEACHER WITH SUCH TALENT AND KNOWLEDGE JUST SITTING THERE NOT HELPING HER MORE THAN ,GIVE IT MORE SUPPORT. THE EXPRESSION ON HER FACE FROM THE BEGINNING TO THE END OF THIS POSTING IS PURE FRUSTRATION. THE HIGHER YOU WENT ON THE SCALE, THE WORSE HER INTONATION BECAME. SHE ONLY NEEDED IN ADDITION TO DIAPHRAGM SUPPORT IS USE OF HER ENTIRE BODY. WATCH LIVE PERFORMANCES OF THE GREAT MALE AND FEMALE SINGERS MOSTLY LOWERING THE LARYNX SLIGHTLY, TIGHTENING AND LOWERING THE CHEST TO SUPPORT THE HIGHER NOTES. SHE IS STANDING THERE THE ENTIRE LESSON LIMP BODY TIGHT LOWER JAW.
    I MEAN NO DISRESPECT, I ADMIRE YOU,AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR MANY WONDERFUL VIDEOS FROM WHICH I HAVE LEARNED A GREAT DEAL. HOWEVER, SHE IS HAVING TROUBLE GETTING INTO THE HEAD VOICE AND VOCAL PLACEMENT IN GENERAL.

      When I stepped into any voice class with any teacher (I had 6 different voice teachers) it was always clear in my mind I was not going to give a concert or hear a concert. Good teaching includes explanations, sharing experiences and concepts. F Tenelli was my best teacher ever, not only voice, any scope of learning.

    Добрый день. Я смотрел Ваши лекции. Есть много интересных моментов. У Вас великолепная певческая природа от Бога!!! Но вот, здесь я с Вами не совсем согласен. Да, Вы говорите про поддержку. Но у девушки абсолютно не дышит голос и чем дальше вверх, тем больше. Я сам работаю с певцами и мне достаются люди с достаточно скромными голосами. Занимаясь с ним специальными упражнениями на развитие гортани и дыхания (диафрагмы и абдоминала), удается вытащить)))) из людей голоса, о которых они даже не подозревали. У меня разработана специальная методика для этого, конечно, учитывая индивидуальность каждого ученика. А вообще, было бы крайне интересно с Вами пообщаться!!! Думаю, могла бы получиться интересная взаимовыгодная дискуссия)))

    Vocal Warm ups mache ich mit Schülern keine mehr, weil die Gefühle damit zu neutral bleiben. So entstehen zum singen hinderliche Geistprägungen der Gesangstechnik. Improvisation finde ich besser, weil damit die Kreativität und das Gefühl des Sängers besser gefördert werden. Es entstehen dann Gefühlsprägungen als ideale Grundlage für Interpretationsgefühle.

    I don't hear a mezzo here . Maybe a soprano?

    • @alleviation91
      @alleviation91 Před 3 lety +1

      @Isabela McK Well then you can't really that she isn't a soprano if she's just a beginner. Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither are voices. In a few years her true voice (be it soprano or mezzo), will show through.
      She sounds like a soprano, however, to my ears.

      @LaDonBlua Před 7 lety +5

      by spreading he means smiling aka spreading your lips horizontally.

    • @sashatempesthiggins5159
      @sashatempesthiggins5159 Před 4 lety

      It’s a normal action most of us will do when we’re intimidated by a high note and feel that it will be a strain. It’s done usually because you are over thinking the clarity of the note. You spread your lips at the corners which distorts the note - you hear it more loudly yourself but it creates the strain you were worried about and is uncomfortable.

    the scales are too high for her she cant hit the high notes correctly sounds like she is straining

    • @qzrnuiqntp
      @qzrnuiqntp Před 5 lety +3

      She's not straining. That's new for her, she can learn to give more low resonances, and the small microphone takes less low resonances than the real sound, too.

    While each voice is unique, she is not a mezzo she has no chest voice

    • @alleviation91
      @alleviation91 Před 3 lety +2

      The lack of chest voice is through atrophy, i.e., little training and lack of use. Look at some of the sopranos of the past, and you will find they all had well-developed chest registration: Rosa Ponselle, Renata Tebaldi, Maria Callas, Helen Traubel, Montserrat Caballe, Ghena Dimitrova, Lina Bruna Rasa, to name a few.
