I can't be the only one who feels anxious in an empty fps server, because you're so used to the constant noises of other players shooting and announcements of what's going down, and then you step in an empty server and all that is gone, no noises except wind in some games and your own footsteps

It’s the abnormal in something that’s supposed to be normal. It’s like having a really horrific horror scene in a non horror movie.
@@jackspedicy to build upon that, its basically that one scene in MGS2. Where Colonel Campbell was telling "Raiden" to turn the game off, it was honestly one of the most unnerving moments in a non horror game I've played
How to fix this game
1.- Remove the ghost wife model and replace it with a generic player model that moves erratically around the map. It would also work if the model is that of a woman with textures that looked like they were ripped from a family photograph (Like the N64 Goldeneye and Perfect Dark models).
2.- Avoid most of the exposition the developer gave you, subtle hints that the game is something more sinister make it a lot scarier than "this game will revive my waifu but you can save her soul if you dont listen to me".
3.- Get the actually supernatural shit out, and make it seem that the game is the work of a mentally deranged man that wants to get his wife back and is trying to build her in the game or some insane shit, you can add witchcraft to the mix adding obscure religious images (commonly associated with sorcery) near the spot where the wife often appears. This will make the player model moving erratically with no real goal creepier.
Now the game is unnerving, scary, and if you take a moment to look for the details, sad. Now the story is about a man that was so devastated about his wife's sudden death, that the game he was working in got derailed so badly by tributes he made to her (that would later become attempts to build her in that world) that it lost all its players due to the lack of care and the rise of newer better games.

As soon as the line, "This game can raise the dead, that was my dead wife you saw" came up, the fear factor sorta died. The game itself was so creepy when nothing was explained, so empty and ominous, but then it turned into another generic gaming creepypasta. Haunted data is one thing, since people genuinely believe in ghosts, but the concept of the whole game being able to fully resurrect the dead is just too much.
And perhaps the presence of spoken word in itself.

To be honest, I think the main factor of having fear in the game is mostly isolation from others and or no explanation. When you're alone and don't understand anything, you're mainly engulfed in curiosity and have a sense of immersion and weird vibes.

I made my friends believe this was an old game I used to play when I was younger on my old pc during it's "hayday" when it was full of players and I pretended that I had know clue what was happening, oh boy that night I got them good.

I did something kinda similar. In "Welcome to the Game", where you browse a fictional dark web, there's a certain site in the game that I can't describe here due to its subject matter, but when you try to visit it, the kidnappers in the game will instantly get you, with a big jump scare included. One time I did this a friend jumped back in the chair like 3 feet. Another time a different friend almost screamed. It was hilarious.

John-DEV: i've created an npc which is supposed to be a shopkeeper where u buy different weapons from the credit u get by killing other team's foes. But suddenly there was an error which caused the entity to become corrupted and his texture got glitched into this creepy dark figure which just teleports due to unrepairable bug and the reason it walks towards you and gets close to you is supposed to be him interacting with you by asking u on which weapon u want to buy but instead it's just this horrifying entity that haunts the servers. I also believe that the corruption or virus spread into other commands files scripts of the game which closed the multiplayer system and i cant do anything about it for some reason.
Whatever you do watchout for the entity. He is dangerous. He might also corrupt ur PC.
Or stuff like that. Ik my idea is kinda weird also but i think it would've been better this way i guess..
For me, this game would’ve been a lot more interesting if it weren’t for the typical creepypasta haunted game lore. I always did get that spooky feeling of being alone in an fps server with nothing to do but roam around waiting for something strange to happen.

I think this is an interesting idea, but the game shows its hand way too early, and the ghost is kind of generic.

This is by far the scariest video I've seen on CZcams. I usually don't get scared by these games/videos, but this one tells you it's gonna be a friendly game from the beginning. But as you progress you slowly realize that you aren't alone. This game is my only fear (not the game itself just the vibe and the plot just waiting for other people to join) and this might possibly be the only game that I can be scared. This developer needs a Oscar.

i had a game of krunker playing in the background while watching this video and this kid with a crappy laggy mic that sounded like it was from mw2 was talking but it was kinda stuttery so you couldnt hear what he was saying. I thought it was a part of the game and for some reason really made the game immersive.
I started to get chills when the shadow walked at him the first time, and his camera's focus went to poop.

I really like how you played this game; very open to being immersed in the experience! So many gamers would try and act like the experience is dumb or not worth being taken seriously because that's their 'style' I guess, but I enjoyed how you just got in with the spooks! And if this game rewards 'coders' to dive into the game, then you've gone WAY farther than most gamers did anyway! One other thing, I personally would be exactly just as nervous when I play these games, even though I really enjoy the experience too!

this game started out TERRIFYING but :/ and it’s such an amazing idea for a horror game too. it makes capturing a flag objective, something you only usually associate as an exhilarating & positive thing, and makes it feel like a dreading chore as the walk back to your camp is so ominous

I've had this moment before when playing an online match, only it was much more creepier. I was literally the only player, having my own name in the list and suddenly, something kept sniping me. Whenever it did the close-up, there was nothing there. I heard nothing but the ambient winds. What should've been an action game ended up becoming a paranoia atmospheric horror game. I left after the ghost killed me for the seventh time.
I had the same experience on Halo 3 but it sounded like another player was shooting and I was playing forge with no internet it was fucking creepy

Why was 6 afraid of 7? It's a fairly common question, mostly because when people see 6 and 7 next to each other, it doesn't really make sense. 6 is large, muscled, and trained in multiple martial arts, while 7 is fairly average, physically, and short. However, 6's fear of 7 has its roots in childhood. See, 6 and 7 grew up together, and for a few years, they were best friends. But then 6 kissed 3, and they became childhood sweethearts. 7 secretly had feelings for 3, so 7 decided he needed to destroy 6 to win 3's affection. He started subtly, undermining 6 whenever possible with passive aggressive comments and compli-sults. But over time, things got much more insidious. 7 started messing with 6's performance in school, bringing down his grades and turning teachers against him. Even worse, 7 became great friends with 6's parents and slowly turned them against their own offspring. At night, 7 would sneak into 6's bedroom, and whisper depressing and hopeless things into his ears. Every time 3 was around, 7 would pants 6 and make fun of his genitalia, or try to body shame him in other ways. However, 3 was both smart and compassionate, and saw through 7's schemes, sticking with 6, trying to counter 7's psychological tear-down with compliments and friendship. Finally, 7 decided that he would never be able to win 3, so he drugged both 6 and 3, taking them to an abandoned cobbler's hut on the edge of town. There, he proceeded to torture and maim 3, forcing 6 to watch in horror, unable to do anything to save his sweetheart. 7 didn't kill 3, but instead, put her in a semi-vegetative state. 7 cleaned the scene of his prescence, then called the cops, having 6 blamed for 3's condition. 6 was sent to prison, believing 6 was guilty, 6's parents fell into a deep depression, eventually committing suicide over what they believed 6 had done. After serving 17 years of a 30 year sentence, and getting out on good behaviour, 6, now muscled and skilled as a fighter, thought he might get revenge on 7. But when he finally tracked down 7, he found out that 7 had installed a micro-bomb into 3's body, and should he be killed, the bomb would automatically go off and kill 3 as well. And though she was still in a mostly fugue state, 6 couldn't bring himself to hurt her any further, and decided to try and move on with his life. However, being an ex-con, it was difficult for him to get a job. 6 finally found employment at a diner, which 7 then bought, and proceeded to again undermine and toy with 6 at every turn. 6 tried to find employment elsewhere, but 7 contacted any potential employer and soured them against 6. 6 finally realized that no matter what he did, 7 was going to try and ruin his life, and he resigned himself to living as a broken, lonely man, never able to stand up to the depraved, amoral 7.
