Why would she not tell her sister, who she tells everything and her best friend? Additionally there was a text message on that day of the murders from Maggie to Blanca . She said that she was worried about Alex's health. So I do not believe her.

It spoke volumes.. she would have been ridiculed by the defense, because she wasn't an expert.. but she was for all accounts and purposes her friend and confidant who was there to hear her when she needed to share what was going on in her life.. that's what you do when you are getting Your Nails done.. 💅🏽👂🏼🥺 I don't care what you say.. But Maggie's HUSBAND Alex can't remember the final conversation he had with Maggie moments before her death. "Well, I would've said..."

At 6:13 the journalist explains that Erin remembered the mani she gave Maggie, down to the exact colours, a week before the murders.
It’s sad that a nail technician has a better memory of you than your “grieving” husband.

You know us nail techs are essentially underpaid therapists lol,but no, our clients really open up with us and sometimes share very intimate parts of their lives with us for sure!

@@charlotte_stevens The way Paul behaved during the boat crash tells me it was a very abusive household behind closed doors. Emily D. Baker said at one point "Imagine spending a quiet evening hanging out with your family and violence suddenly erupts!" People who grew up in abusive families don't have to imagine. We knew that could happen at any moment no matter what the situation was. I can't help but think that it probably wasn't unfamiliar to this family, either.

All about "keeping up appearances"...I have empathy for Paul and Buster. As Emily often says, you can have opposing feelings on something or about someone. I truly don't think Paul (or Buster) was a good person, but for them to be so young and allegedly such crappy people, lends to the fact that Alex and Maggie were not good parents. Imo, both were malignant narcissists. The whole thing is just so incredibly sad. I hope now there will be justice for Mallory Beach, Stephen Smith and Gloria Sutterfield 😔🙏💕

It struck me that no one dared give a victim impact statement. Can you imagine being a victim of a horrible murder at 52 and no one will stand up for you in the end.

Something similar happened to a dear friend of mine, but it was at her funeral. When it was time for the family to speak about her good nature, no one stood up. It literally moved me to get up and speak for a whole half hour about my dear friend! she did so much for her family, and I wanted to speak to her lovingly nature, in which I did!!

Blanca’s testimony got glossed over, especially when she said Maggie wanted to give it all to the boat victims. It made me like her to hear that she said “We can start over.” I wish she had a chance to start over.
Too bad she had a monkey on her back. That monkey's name was Alex. She could have just started over all by herself. But her gut feeling she ignored she knew Alex was up to stuff I think she knew but she just kind of blocked it out a lot of wives do that I don't know why they do but they do

Paul needed to go to jail and rehab. In addition to settling with the families. Maggie didn’t want him to face any consequences.

@sinalfire umm being a mother is working, being a stay at home mom is harder then working full time. She was the support system for her husband. I have no clue who she was as a person. But please do not discount or disrespect stay at home mothers

The most dangerous time for a woman is when she's trying to leave a relationship. My mom lost her life in the same manner as Paul & Maggie, I somehow got out Alive. My dad saved us all a trial by killing himself with her.

It’s hard to believe that marriage with an active drug abuser would be as wonderful as they tried to portray.
Drugs weren't the problem. That was a complete exaggeration of the facts. Yes Alex may have been abusing prescription pills but opioids don't make a person paranoid, they put that person to sleep. I believe Alex had a problem with gambling, that's why he was borrowing and stealing. All of that will come to light in the financial crime trials. If Maggie did indeed want a divorce, the family finances would've been uncovered

I don’t think it was 100% bad or she wouldn’t have stayed with him. But over time drug abuse and the stress of that can build up. I personally think Maggie was in denial about how serious his drug addiction was. I doubt she knew how many pills he was actually taking daily. I think that’s common when living with an addict. The addiction almost feels normal. I think she trusted Alex completely with the finances and didn’t pay attention to any of that. Alex was making a lot of money by anyone’s standards. It doesn’t seem he ever gave her any guidance or set out a budget. It appears she spent whatever she wanted and was none the wiser. Alex spoiled Maggie and his sons. I suppose he was just thought being a good provider. That’s a lot of pressure to be the sole support of 3 people. I think some unhealthy stuff was going on here but nothing justifies murder.
When Alex was on the stand, he said, "when Maggie asked me to leave, I mean when she asked me to go with her". I still don't understand why the prosecutor didn't seize on this.
When did he say that? What was he referring too?

I can't help but feel that Maggie's story needs to be told. Some things I've listened to weren't very flattering or positive. It's nice to hear that she had a positive impact on the lives of others. As a mom and wife I can't imagine her horror. Rest easy Maggie

She always looked so happy. Not fake smiling , but a happiness you can see in her eyes.

Maggie wasn’t the greatest of people, it’s obvious. But what she saw…her last moments.. she didn’t deserve that. Seeing what happened to her baby boy, running to him and then being gunned down herself is fate far too cruel. While I believe she’s also a criminal and involved in some pretty awful things, and she’s done some awful things….my god that woman did not deserve that…
The same can said about Alex. "Bad" people aren't bad all of the time. "Good" people aren't good of the time.

It struck me as odd that she had to be convinced to go back home to be there for the passing of Alex’s dad. If you’re in a healthy relationship that would be a no brainer. Seems to be a sign that she was no longer interested in being his wife
Alex's dad didn't die till the 10th 3 days after the murders tho. The dad was sick and in the hospital the day of the murders.
She was there a lot but nothing special had happened and they had work done at the house she was in so it is not weird to wait a day or two but it had to be that day both her and Paul had to come to moselle
She was at her beloved Edisto beach house and didn't want to go to the hunting place.
She probably only went because Paul was going since she told family and friends that Alex was acting fishy.
She might have been worried to be around him by herself but probably had no fears with Paul being there.
I heard that he might have been paranoid about the police being there because he had a bag of pills in his pocket.
Are those the pills that Paul and Maggie/housekeeper found in his computer bag?
Is that why Alex really rolled paul over to get the bag of pills out of his pocket?
Did he question Paul while he was still alive as to where the pills were, rolled him over to remove the bag then shot him again?

On afternoon June 7th, his father had to be readmitted. Doctor felt that it could be pneumonia (well treatable), if it was a cancer complication, it would be more dangerous. Alex M. was saved by the bell he was just in a tense confrontation with the CFO of the lawfirm about a missing cheque.
During the conversatiion he got the call that his dad was worse. Actually I think he may have exaggerated it, and it worked. Lawfirm was like a big family, everyone knew his father, CFO got out of his hair, they ended the conversation, she assumed he would drive over to the hospital - he didn't.
CFO testified the talk was (early) afternoon, he claimed it was around 4 pm.
He arrived at Moselle around 7pm, so it might be true that he worked some time after the conversation with the CFO ended (his testimony).
According to one of his brothers the situation with the father was initially not that bad (which makes me think AM found it convenient to be more dramatic about the father in the hospital). In the next days it turned out that it was not pneumonia, and indeed he died on June 10th.
But I very much assume he had agreed with Maggie before Monday that she would come to Moselle, she also had made her appointments for nails. She did not come for the "passing" because that wasn't an issue on Sunday or Monday. Father got admitted around noon I think.
Thanks for this. Poor Maggie seemed to not get her due in the trial. She really was a victim of overkill I felt. A lot of anger directed at her and she seemed like a very sweet woman. I would have liked to have learned more about her. RIP Maggie 💐

Lovely Maggie seemed non to fussed or in a sense of urgency in the 911 call when explaining her beloved house keeper was lay on the ground with blood coming out of here head and ears. ALL of the Murdaughs never gave a care about anyone except themselves! Period. She was involved in that death even if it was covering up the truth. Fell down the steps my ass.

The snake brother John Marvin who is selling stuff or taking back to his business has money if Buster needs some. AM still controlling things even in prison and still hiding money. How this is allowed to continue when it’s all recorded and available to the public.
As an ex beauty therapist and hair stylist I can confirm people really open up to you and they don't even have to be regulars. I've had clients confide in me before their family and friends about affairs, pregnancy, wanting a divorce, having received a cancer diagnosis etc I've even had one client want to leave me everything in their will just for listening to them. I believe this woman probably knew Maggie way more than alot of people
That is so true . My long term hairdresser whom I have known for thirty five years , hears all my worries , problems , joys and life events . My house helper knows me like my best friend ,but actually knows more of my family personal life . Neither ever spreads any gossip about anyone else to me and keeps my confidences close . I hear from them too .
@@BlackStump172 oh yeh when people open up to you like that I wouldn't dream of using that info as gossip! A special bond is created for sure. The only time I told one of my colleagues something was when my client told me her cancer had returned and was terminal but didn't want to stress her family out so she was hiding it from them. I broke down crying after she left and had to ask to take the rest of the day off.
I truly believe most hair stylists could write a best selling book on the things we hear. I personally have 12 years of stories that could fill a best seller and a large percentage of my stories I learned in the first appointment. I loved my experience but I also realize I have zero desire to go back to it. We were not properly trained on maintaining a safe distance from problems we had no business being an outlet for and I'm thankful I no longer need to walk that very fine line of potential responsibility.
@Flick Rox, I’m so sorry you had that experience! You are very much like my hair dresser. Both of you are kind, open people, who are easy to talk to. When I got my cancer diagnosis, my husband reminded me that everyone at my beauty salon would be upset, and he suggested that I wait until after my surgery. I was fine, and I am fine, some ten years after my cancer was surgically removed. When I did tell my friends at the salon, assuring them that I was 100% okay, two of them burst into tears anyway! We spent the next twenty minutes hugging, and thanking God that I was okay.
People like yourself, and like the friends I meet in every personal service industry like hair and nails, are without a doubt the kindest, best people we have in the United States. I hope your clients all know what a true gem you are!

I think they left a lot out of this trial because they didn’t want to complicate it and they figured they had enough info and an angle to convict him. Was thinking during the trial that if there was a potential pending divorce, that would have added to the motive.
I agree 100% I think more will come out as time goes on.
As a hairstylist this just furthers my confidence that we make an impact on our clients. My clients tell me everything, I would be HAPPY to help expose people if they were in danger or passed like Maggie

My daughter is a men’s hairstylist and she tells me how close she’s become to many of her clients over the past five years.
Maggie’s nail tech even remembered what color she used on Maggie’s nails that day, yet Alex, Maggie’s HUSBAND, couldn’t remember HIS last conversation with her or ANYTHING they talked about!! Yeah, RIGHT!!🙄
On that day, I suspect Alex was preoccupied with planning how to murder them and get away with it. On that day, he probably didn't focus on anything either of them said.
The family didn't make impact statements and, although the granddad has a gravestone, Maggie and Paul still don't. It's very sad that so few people have humanized Maggie

I saw a psychologist speak about this. Very interesting, he feels Maggie and Paul were not seen as individuals in the family (they never fit in) and were expendable. Therefore no headstone and not a priority.

It is so ODD, that the sister did not get up and give an impact statement concerning her own sister. I believe she was scared! Alex isn’t the only one who can murder someone. That entire family has dark deep secrets!

Why waste your time with giving such emotional effort to someone like Alex Murdaugh. For everyone involved, I thought it was not odd at all that the main switch that would aid in healing and closure was to see THAT S.O.B sentenced, cuffed, and escorted away from polite society to spend the rest of his miserable life in prison.

@@j.z.j.1559 They can’t object to anything said in victims impact statements. Verdict is done, all they can affect is the sentencing and that’s only if there is a range of sentences possible. Many states have a mandatory minimum and a mandatory maximum. Victim impact statements can only affect the judge’s decision and usually they’ve already decided what sentence they want to impose

Her sister was trying not to lose the family connection with Buster while trying to stand up for her murdered family members. I hope Buster runs towards his maternal family so he can move through his grieving process.
Maggie may have been the best of that family but she also enabled her sons bad behavior. She and Paul still did not deserve what happened to them.

So all passengers (that survived) said that Paul drove and refused to let someone more sober take over. Those that were injured were bullied while in hospital to NOT say it was Paul. (Alex and the grandfather went from hospital room to hospital room).
btw it was the boat of his parents. And if someone would have taken over from the son of the owners - wouldn't it have been a SOBER person that would not crash the boat.
The bf of the dead girl is recorded on the scene, all are on the shore but she was missed and he is desperate. he yelled at Paul: You killed her.
As per Netflix docu the young people had an argument over it, at one point the boat was idle, then Paul got abusive to his then gf.
The girl who died and her friend sat in the back, and were apprehensive, the young man thought Paul was going too fast, but he refused to listen to them.
When Paul was asked to let someone else drive he said: It is MY goddamn boat.
No it wasn't. His father bought it with a loan and he used money from a secret account (for the stolen money) to pay for it.
Anyway: even if it had been properly bought - that entitled young man never had earned enough money to pay for a boat.

Bullying witnesses (did not work they are in the Netflix docu) and the young man they tried to frame had injuries that were not consistent with being at the controls (as per police investigation). But they would easily have unleashed a criminal investigation and a civil lawsuit for damages on HIM. For millions if his parents could pay for that.
For _their_ parental failures. Maggie must have been fine with that.
Saying that she still (till her death) did not "believe" that paul was the one that is to blame for manslaughter can mean 2 things.
Saving face is more important than anything else, even if talking with her sister. And even if a young woman lost her life.
Or she was delusional. Paul could do no wrong. Never mind overwhelming evidence to the contrary. Never mind he was known to drink heavily since he was a teenager. No wonder he turned out to be like he was.
I’m thinking she enabled Paul and most likely Buster as well, because that’s what Alex wanted. So to keep the peace, she did what he wanted. Alex seems like the “boys will be boys” type and dismissed their bad behavior as being that.
I really wish Maggie's story could be told. She fought battles as a wife and mother that most people could never understand. She found her peace at Edisto and now in heaven.

Watch the YT documentary on the real Maggie Murdaugh. Part of it is narrated by a long time friend who held nothing back. Apparently Maggie felt she was above all others in the Hampton County area. She would never discipline her boys as they grew up, calling each other Mother F*ckers before the age of 5……..where did they hear that??? She provided alcohol at all the underage parties at their home. She was bad news like the rest, although did not deserve to be murdered by Alex.

Really? You know that? She did not deserve to be gunned down, but we can't make up things after she's gone. She and her husband have lived a life of great privilege, she even said that to her family.
They both allowed their boys to drink as very young boys, getting drunk was a normal thing in their world. They allowed them to do whatever they chose to do, at a great price. The boys fought often, calling each other MF's, this was told by family.
There are many mysterious dead bodies in their wake. Bad judgements by them all. Maggie would remind them that they were Murdaugh's. Paul was said to have an explosive temper, even abuse to his girlfriend.
It's just sad all the way around.

This made me ugly cry for Maggie and Paul .She was a person and this trial is disappointing.I feel her sister should have said her peace but my feelings don't matter I believe Maggie's family is traumatized beyond reason and no amount of words can bring her back .This can't be fixed .I hope there is away the family can grieve and find peace for themselves RIP Maggie

She did see a divorce lawyer and was about to start digging into their finances. And Paul's accident was bringing light into the finances. That's why he told Marion that whoever did it had been thinking about it for a long time. That's why both had to go
I felt the same way. Maggie wasn't represented. It felt like she was swept under the rug. Very sad.

It sure seemed that Paul was an out of control person with serious drinking issues. Likely he was a blackout drinker and would likely have killed more people than just that beautiful Mallory girl. So...he was a very troubled and troubling force to have around as you never knew what bad thing he was going to do next. Now, maybe, he can start all over again on better footing.
When you listen to Maggie's 911 call after Mrs Satterfield fell down the steps, she sounds annoyed by the inconvenience, to be honest.

Buster was the golden child in Alex's eyes and had Buster not cheated his way out of law school, he might have developed a career. Perhaps now he can lead his own life and get away from his dad and develop his own career path. Alex paid $60K to get him back into law school but I don't think Buster ever went back. There are jail house phone calls between Alex and Buster with Alex going on and on about Buster getting back into law school. Buster keeps putting it off.

The bigger issue is that she confirmed she WAS seeking divorce. That got glossed over. Alex got a 2 for 1 deal killing both Maggie and Paul. A big piece of common sense motive. And I don’t believe he was an addict. A drug smuggler yes. And more than likely others. All part of his long term coverup.
His description of opioid withdrawals was spot on and that was one of the few times in the trial I felt he wasn’t lying. He definitely exaggerated the amounts he was taking but I’d bet he was an addict. Just my opinion.
He was coached on the withdrawal symptoms, but his coach didnt teach him how many pills to say he took.
I am with you. Drug addiction was another untrue story of AM's to gain sympathy. I might have bought it had he not said it was for SO MANY YEARS!!!

I don’t think his addiction was nearly as bad as his greed & narcissism. If his habit went on for as long as it did & he took as much as he claimed you would be able to see it. People who take narcotics for long periods get that certain look. I’ve seen it with so many & he looked healthy.
My hair lady is probably one of my closest confidants and I absolutely treasure her....I believe this woman 100% and I'm so happy that she shared what Maggie was like RIP
If she spoke to an attorney at all or mentioned that she was going to 2 others, he would have heard about it or suspected it was coming.
Lawyers and those who work for them gossip almost as much as hairdressers if not more.
My mother's hairdresser came to my mom's wake and funeral. I was so touched by that. She took off work.

he did have to suspect it as anyone would have dealing with a drug abuser as a spouse and finding out how he stole money from victims in cases for his own lifestyle. He probably knew when she found out about the missing money to people and the drug addiction that an alternative for her would be thought of. I think Maggie would do what most would do when kids are grown and under that much deception would find out her options to relieve the stress which included divorce.

yep have seen that too - but the nail tech says something completely different. I have lived in a small town before - there are a hell of a lot of petty, jealous people that live in them too . That if you are not accepted they make your life hell and that sounds like her experience there

Concerning Maggie's death, the first female investigator said she saw a lot of footprints that looked like flip-flop movements. I can only imagine she knew she had to fight for her life as best as she could

True, I’m a longtime hairstylist and I know peoples families more than some of my own. They tell me things they don’t tell their loved ones. I open up to them too.
A couple of things Alex said during the trial that I believed were that whoever did this had been thinking about it and was very angry. Maggie was on the verge of divorcing him and the lawsuit concerning Paul and wrongful death of Mallory Beach was on his horizon. Neither one of them stood a chance by this point because Alex Murdoch had already decided to annihilate both of them IMO

I feel he may have played out the murder option in his head long before it happened. He may not have expected all of his problems to converge on him so quickly….or he would have planned it better. To that, I’m certain he formulated other “end game fantasies” in his sick little mind….

Her own son didn’t even humanize her or seem to care that she was killed by 5 painful shots by an AR. It’s unbelievable. Of all people you would think he would be the one to come out and speak on her behalf.
Of course Buster cared, he was likely devastated but unfortunately his father is a murderer and he’s just lost his entire family. He is probably just in shock.

Not necessarily if she was trying to hide from Alex. Because don't forget he's an attorney and he can be a dirty one and he could probably dig up dirt and find out exactly what she's doing and she probably didn't want that to be associated with her her calling an attorney or anything like that.
I thought the prosecution did an excellent job showing how Maggie was shot..her own sister had asked Alex if he thoughtvshe suffered,but after the autopsy reports she said she wasn't so sure about what Alex had told her..they DID explain the shots test went through Maggie and how each shot would affect her body movement ..
And how painful the shot was that went through her kidney!

Paul’s wounds were under scrutiny hence why he was mentioned more. Everyone agreed on how Mommy was shot for the most part! She gave birth to that boy so you know she was running that way and who knows what was being said at the moment when Paul was being shot

Its good to hear about this side of Maggie. The 911 call where she is talking about Ms Gloria was very different. Ms Gloria had worked for them many years and she acted offended when asked about Ms Gloria’s age. As if, she was too good to know how old Ms Gloria was since she was just a servant in their home.

Maggie wasn't represented well in this trial, for sure. It could be because that 9-1-1 call Maggie made, when Gloria tripped up the steps to the Moselle house, was ghastly! She and Paul came off as snooty and un-caring. And the whole time Gloria was in the hospital, Maggie never once visited her. So, it would have been nice to hear if there was another side to her.
I think that they just came off as emotional and impatient. Give them a break!
Maggie was the only Murdaugh to visit Gloria in the hospital according to a local resident/ friend of Maggie.
I thought I heard she visited too. Maybe it was only to unplug the ventilator though. As for the age thing, I couldn’t tell you either of my parents ages off of the top of my head without doing the math by their year of birth so her not knowing it in that situation is understandable to me.
Why a stay at home mother needs a nanny to raise her kids is another story. I think she was probably a bit entitled and could’ve been part of the problem with that family.
It’s too bad she was killed but she eventually would’ve had to get a job and start doing laundry which would’ve been pretty tough for her.
You have labeled Maggie inaccurately--SHE was the only one of the family who visited Gloria in the hospital, according to her friends and Gloria's family! As far as the phone call to EMS was concerned, people often sound differently when they are upset/concerned when something happens to a friend or family member. Maggie wanted the EMS to get there quickly, and was upset about Gloria's status. Unless you knew Maggie personally, I do not think you can accurately describe her!
20 years caring for your family and not a visit. That speaks volumes to me. I guess she was too busy getting her nails done and trying to hire a replacement. Lord knows with the boys grown she still needed a cook and housekeeper especially with having more than one house. Poor mags must’ve been exhausted with all of her charity work, PTA meetings and garden club soirées.
Alec and Maggie must not have been too stressed about Paul's upcoming trial over the boat. They proceeded to buy him a 2nd, replacement boat while he was on bond. He got speeding tickets pulling the 2nd boat, but of course, no consequences.
And I think that's part of the problem if he got in an accident with the first boat and accidentally killed somebody because he was drinking and driving why would they go out and get him a second boat? That's almost giving him in a sense of entitlement like he nor I get a second both for drinking and driving and killing some poor girl. That kid should have been charged with driving under the influence he should have been charged with some kind of manslaughter because it was his fault that that girl flew out of the boat because he was driving erratically. And he should serve his time and pay for his crime. And I do think her family is entitled to some type of compensation. Honestly I would not have gotten into a boat with somebody that was under the influence of alcohol that could not even walk straight. But maybe the rest of the people on the boat were drinking and they were not really thinking properly. I don't know. But that's like getting into the car with somebody that's under the influence of alcohol you're going to take your life at risk? If it were me personally I probably would have called my parents or somebody else to have them pick me up. But then again I was not in their shoes. Maybe they didn't want to cause a scene by saying hey I'm just going to call somebody to come and get me or maybe they didn't want their parents to know they are drinking illegally. But I would rather have my parents know I'm drinking illegally and be alive then get into the boat with somebody that's under the influence and cannot walk straight or even drive the boat let alone.
As a former nail tech for over 10 years….. I believe this woman. It’s a fact my clients would come to me every two weeks and I knew all about their personal lives. I felt more like a friend than a client.
Why was the nail tech squirting that bottle so much? Is it hand sanitizer or what? Never seen a nail tech do that and I am really curious...

I completely understand the prosecution not bringing in hearsay and also understand that any upstanding divorce attorney would not want to break client/attorney privacy…. But, knowing that she was seeking a divorce is further evidence of him murdering her and fits with his apparent controlling nature. The whole “they were happy” just didn’t make sense. He was a drug addict and pathological liar. She had to be miserable. Rip Maggie and Paul.

I saw that, too. It’s struck a nerve and I wonder why they did they when he had all the permits but like a good gardener he rotated crops, he planted in one field over I believe.???? It makes no sense but seems they clearly had it out for him. I hope he has a very tough, powerful lawyer to make him whole. I was devastated for him after the blood, sweat and tears they show up and destroyed it in one day. He handled it better than I would have. Meanwhile, back at the ranch the M ‘s get away with murder.

Nail techs, hair dressers, & barbers tend to be a go to for a lot of people as their therapists/counselors. If it wouldn't be considered heresay, they'd make good witnesses.
