  • I have been using and recommending DeOxit Products - made by the Caig Company - for the past 10 years.
DeOxit Products are featured in many of our Videos when used to clean the controls in your NuTone Intercom Remote Stations and Master Stations
The Caig Company made a change to their applicator and it wastes the product and ruins any chance of fine, controlled applaication
If you have have similar experiences with their new "Perfect Straw" applicator - Tell Caig what you think:
Here's a link to their Company Home Page: caig.com/

Great video ! Btw, you didn't mention also that the perfect straw leaks like crazy !! Every squirt leaks out as much if not more around the base of the rotating black cap ! I also am not one of those conspiracy nut jobs but if you're buying 320 cans per year compared to 160 before.....well, Caig just doubled their profits !!
CAIG, just bring back the darned red straws and regular little push caps...with the 3-settings (lo, mid, hi) again !!

I am certainly glad to see that I am not the only person who feels this way. As a former hardware retailer for 30 years I have seen more than my share of companies screw up perfectly good products in the name of progress when the change was really some gimmick thought up by some wizbang marketing company, or in some cases a disguise to cover up a price raise.

@@northsideservicecompany3567 I am glad they sent me the old style instead, since I had to blast the stuff into tight places. The 22 Faders in my 1978 Soundcraftsmen PE2217 Preamp - Equalizer, were in sad shape in both physical movement and electrical contact. Some were intermittent, while other were making no contact at all, and most were really tough to slide because of the 45 year old hardened lubricant. These Faders are of a rare kind that are composed of two halves of plastic which are held together with two metal clips. With these you have to lubricate them both internally and externally. Anyhow, the Deoxit D5 fixed all contact problems perfectly. I then carefully applied a silicon lubricant to all 22 Faders, and did so without having to disassemble them. WOW ! They now slide with absolute ease, and all work perfectly. I also cleaned the contacts and lubricated the shafts of the 2 potentiometers, volume control and left-right balance. It is like bringing the dead back to life.

When I complained, they told me that they changed to this packaging because people were complaining about losing the red straws, which is total BS. It's clear that the real reason is so you go through the can quicker and buy another sooner. There wouldn't be such a problem if it was only the straw that was the problem, but it seems that the product actually leaks out around the area where the button is, making it even more wasteful. I can't press that button without a good 5-10 drops leaking out over the workspace in front of me. It's an abysmal move by a company who know they have a completely unique product. I would stop buying it but I simply have to use it for what I do.

Hi Rameish: Mostly I think it's because the marketing department has taken control and they're trying to keep up with other brands that have wanky spray nozzles. What they are missing is - this type of spray nozzle on a can of WD40 is completely appropriate for the way WD40 is used (spraying all of the rusted bolts) buy not for more surgical applications like spraying volume controls in an amplifier - Chris

Seen this kind of thing before. I have to wear contact lens, and have for 50 years. My morning routine for 45 years was clean lens, put one drop of conditioner in my eye, then put in the lens. About 5 years ago, the company I dealt with for the conditioner decided to "improve" the dispenser. Now it's crap; you end up using 2-3 drops before you get one into your eye, wasting the other 2. It's sloppy and doesn't work well, and I end up using a ($12) bottle in 4 weeks instead of the 8-9 weeks that I used to get. When I phoned the company, they give me the line that "I'll learn to do it right". BS. A couple weeks ago when I went to see my eye doctor, he gave me a complimentary bottle of the stuff, which still had the old style dispenser. So much better, you can't believe they'd even entertain changing it. But it's NOT improvement, except for their bottom line . . .

The "leaky trigger" being a byproduct of poor quality (may be not so intentional).
