Interestingly, this is the video that took me the longest to make (so far) and I even grew a beard, just for this video, and it's also the video that is getting the least views. Which means, not many people will have the chance to read this comment.
Amazing craftsmanship.
If I'm ever tempted to get a guitar with a Floyd Rose - inspired bridge, I'll remember this video.
I really should have made two pieces, while I was at it. As I'm sure all of them are braking apart.
@@GuitarQuackery I'm sure you're right - but I can't imagine this kind of work on this guitar is economically justifiable for the owner. He/she must be really attached to that guitar.
@@Iamadoctor6365 I under budgeted, underestimated and overworked on this one. This is why, in retrospect, I wish I had just made two, as it doesn’t take double time, once the machines are set up. And it is just a matter of time when I will encounter another one of these guitars again. I could sell the ready-made part if I had an extra one.
Really neat to see how you solved the problem and your process!
When all else fails, fabrication is the answer. But now that I have this project featured in a video (which is not getting any traction, to speak of) I will never be foolish enough to do this again. This project definitely cost me money to complete.
I hear the frustration, I appreciate all the time and effort that went it to it! Not lost on me. The outcome was stunning!
Congratulations, fantastic job!
This project took forever. And the video took forever.
Now you know why I was growing a beard.
It was just to have that one shot in this video, with me showing that I grew a beard, while saying that the project didn’t take too long to complete.
You see what length I have to go through, to make a video., LOL.
The new block, and setup must have cost about as much as the guitar is worth, if not more. However, I'm pretty sure this guitar has the nicest trem block of any Epiphone S500 on the planet now. It also has a CZcams video showing the fabrication of the nicest Epiphone S500 trem block on the planet. I would say that this was a good investment, because now that this guitar is world famous, it is likely worth a fortune.
There’s an old Chinese proverb that says, an Epiphone S-500 with a custom made solid brass trem block is only worth as much as someone else is willing to pay for it, LOL.
Anyway, thank you for your comment. Much appreciated.
I can say that I have a guitar with a custom brass block from Guitar Quackery. Bid starts at $250,000
@@bryang8005 And don’t forget about the sticker from the NYC Department of Guitar Maintenance & Repairs.
@@GuitarQuackery alright then. $260,000
Oh, the headache! Bought an "Epiphone By Gibson" S-600 in 2020, so cheap...If I ever knew the brigde is one of those ( its a kkt or Bennder, or bendmaster bridge). Ended up buying another, imported, costed twice what I have paid for the guitar! And Im thinking of building a block like you did for it, just in case.
The fabrication of this trem block ended up costing me. The only way I would do it again is if it customer was paying by the hour, for every minute that went into making the final product.
Good luck to you.
@@GuitarQuackery I live in Brazil, there arent many of those around here. But Afer 3 years "patrolling" online, I found one in perfect condition, at 8 km of this friend of mine that lives in New York, and last december he brought it with him . Graciliano Zambonin, check his channel, by the way, he is a great jazz drummer.
@@adrianopadilha7338 Again, good luck with your efforts. I believe all of those trem blocks will fall apart and the easiest replacements to make are going to be brass.
You just need to find a local machinist that will do the work. But there are many tricky turns and hidden surprises that I did not include in the video. So, it will end up taking more time than one can predict.
I checked out Graciliano Zambonin. I guess him and I are practically neighbors. Great work.
Great educational content. I really love to see experts like you teaching, showing great thing to others. I really love this. PS. I will show your channel to my father who plays the guitar :D Thank you for this inspiration.
Your comment is much appreciated.
@@GuitarQuackery Thank you my friend! You deserve appreciation for your great work!
Very nice work!
Thank you!
This is a fantastic channel, you are a great luthier, did you ever think about becoming stand up comedian 😂your dry humor is hilarious. Thanks for the knowledge and the humor.
I would prefer to be a sitdown comedian, LOL.
Thanks for dropping by. And if you like more comedy content, make sure you check out the other channel @GuitarDepartment which is my parody channel, for the NYC Department of Guitar Maintenance & Repairs.
Really good quackery video ;)
westone bendmaster bridge used also on the old bc rich was an absolute sh**...
really really nice job !!!
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the info.
Yeah I'm the idiot who bought this guitar but I love it . Don't do what I did and just buy a Jackson or a Strat. That fabrication work was perfection and it taught me a lot
We ended up with two things - a good video and a good guitar.
High quality brass is available at a very reasonable price! No need to reinvent the wheel!
Thanks.
Very nice work, but WOW, that looks expensive! I'll bet that Tremblock costs more than my Squier Strat. By the way, your playing reminds me why I like hardtail bridges, LOL.
Yeah, I literally have no idea how to play a guitar with a tremolo system.
I underestimated how much time it would take me to make the part, so it did not cost a fortune. But luckily, that customer is a really nice guy, so he deserved it.
I was hoping that I would get paid. Eventually, once the video monetized. But unfortunately, this video has the least views of all videos I’ve recently uploaded.
Love your videos. What is the name of your shop ? I would like to contact you about working on my guitars.
The name of the shop is also, Guitar Quackery just like that name of this channel. But I can only work on guitars locally. I’m not sure if you are located in NYC.
I'm in so much need of that part would you be willing to build for $or time material and your intelligence!!!
That job cost me money because I ended up spending so many hours on it. Those are the hours that I was not able to spend on other guitars. But the business still requires me to pay rent for every hour of the working day. I actually had to turn down other jobs because I was stuck in this one for a long time.
At 14:43... "let's be practical." How about "let's be Quack-tical" for a good tee shirt, hat or coffee mug slogan?
(Edit: at 18:22... in the US, the piece you called a "thingamaling" is often referred to technically as a 'doo-hickey,' or a 'doo-flotchey' in shops using union labor.)
I like the T-shirt slogan.
Do-me flotchy down south in the non union shops . My boss asked me once if I was about finished with a job, I told him pretty close I only liked two steps and he said about how long? I said hard to say , he says thought you only had two things left on it? I said yeah getting started and finishing up . He didn’t find that nearly as funny as I did.
@@brandonjackson5865 After that he probably wasn't sure whether to fire you, terminate you, or to just let you go.

LOL
This video is not getting enough views.
Probably because there’s not enough nudity in this video.
