Glad I did not even try to get home. Gulp. Sat in relatively dry South Derbyshire waiting for it to dry out a bit. Looks horrendous.

hello fellow droner, I have subscribed. I was stuck at Sheffield beer festival so couldnt get my drone. Had to get a bus back home via Chesterfield and saw all the mud that was left by the flood

Every business effected like this, needs to sue their councils cleansing department for neglect & loss of earnings, the neglect of not maintaining drainage, ask yourself, when was the last time you saw a gulley cleaner cleaning drains

There used to be a high in the sky massive blue brick Railway overpass viaduct here, (over and above the Hornes Bridge 'still used by Mainline railway), which they flattened, it's route becoming the dual carriageway over eastwards up to Heath now roundabout above the M1.

part of the abutment is still there of that viaduct behind what was ben & jerrys on the roundabout

@suzyqualcast6269, I was bought up in hasland in the fifties joined the merchant navy in the sixties used to love going home till my parents moved to the country, left chesterfield inthe early nineties watching this video I don't recognise anything now, chesterfield has changed so much I understand all the pubs have gone as well, as I remember there used to be 32 all around town. Ah well i can reminisce how good it used to be.

I am sure the Council will blame climate change instead of pointing the finger at themselves for laziness. Dregde and clean the canals and rivers. They had all summer to do it, they had decades to do it.

The only canal is the Chesterfield and that begins up N, agin the new now old n demolished brick built Tescos site, replaced by that shoe box on the old Dema Glass site.

Most rainfall in the UK in one day on record - this will happen again soon, you will realise in about 10 years that it is climate change. Im 50 so I can see with my own eyes what is happening.

Not climate change, too many houses built on catchment area, cycle road backing water up by narrowing flood plain, and Yorkshire water making new drains to direct water from roads directly into the river rother.

That's what you get if you cover a low catchment area that is nothing but hard surfaces.

@@abduljolil1994 if you like your cellar 5ft in water go for it. Before they built houses on the otherside of the river it was farmlands. We used to sit on top of the railway embankment and watch a stream turn into a lake when we were kids, it was quite a sight tbh.

Love Chesterfield - had some great games vs. The Spireites. Whoever did the drains for this needs suing ….. probably a Tory donor got the contract to flood shit over this great town.
