"Let me get this straight. You think this man, one of the wealthiest, most powerful people in the world, is secretly a vigilante who spends his nights beating criminals into a pulp. And your plan is to out-orphan him? Good luck."
Underrated part of this scene but I love that despite possibly having his secret exposed on top of the years of depression for what happened to dent and the first thing he asks is why the Orphanage wasn't getting the money anymore.
+smoshman6000 no, bruce retired as batman and wanted blake to be the new batman. if you watched the ending carefully you'd realise the bat signal's been fix and when blake said his name was robin, it was his actual name not a nickname
Ewan Lim Batbale was still pretty good. Some people likes to forget some scenes that involves him doing the detective work. It would be boring if there are too many scenes like that.
the scenes that I remember were just showing how good he was using search engines. I guess I have to rewatch the trilogy again. (Always a good reason to rewatch Batman stuff)
What I love about John Blake is that he's a mix of ALL Robins in a way: He's Dick Grayson because he's orphaned at a young age. He's Jason Todd because of that anger in his bones. And finally, he's Tim Drake because of those excellent detective skills.
A thing I now realized about this scene was the realization of the negatives that have occurred in not only Batman’s absence, but Bruce’s too. A true representation that if you are a good man you must not stand by and expect the world to work things out itself.
But then this kind of thinking also brings out all the shitheads that bring the world down, I bet the Hitlers of the world feel it's their duty to bend society to their will as well - so it's a net negative.
That was the goal to be able to leave Gotham without needing batman, and have a real hero like dent. This was the point of taking the fall for dent and the laws passed in his name was what kept the streets cleaned and he thought the world didn’t need him anymore. However it was built upon a lie and the truth finally comes through years later in the form of bane and the underground army riding where batman can finally make the sacrifice to inspire hope based on the truth and not a lie. The parallels and allegories to Jesus in the last movie as dent was a Christ like figure who died for gothams sins and was reborn as a symbol was based upon a lie kind of like is the first believers lied about Christ being reborn to spread the religion. Cant say what happened in real life but that being drawn into the parallels for a tale of 2 cities in the dark knight rises is why Christopher nolan is a genius. It didn’t work as well as it could have as it was more messy than the dark knight but this trilogy and director is goated and it’s so much more than batman beating up a bunch of criminals
@mansoorahmed1676 no the point was Batman was an idea. Not a messiah figure which Bruce in his previous mindset before Bane had a near martyr like death wish that he needed to change and Alfred saw that. Batman doesn't need to be the end all be all. Bruce can help Gotham in more ways than just being Batman. Harvey, being the fallen hero/idol was something Bruce envisioned Batman of being but chose Harvey because he had an actual face to his deeds. It exposed that putting a normal man in the same messiah standing like Jesus Christ isn't possible as again we are just normal men. We are easy to be corrupted which is what happened to Dent along with Bruce with his own hubris. The DKR shows that Batman at the end stands as a symbol of duty not an idol or Martyr. That anyone can answer the call of duty in Gotham when the time comes. The duty that Batman took a bomb across the bay or Police officers storming a large number of terrorists after being stuck underground for a long time. There is no difference in meaning between these 2 actions as both did it as that is what needed to be done.
While one can interpret it in that way, I'm pretty sure it was just them using the typical sewer gator urban legend to express their disbelief towards the guy. Characters who point out how paranoid and delusional others are often refer to said legend. "Chasing sewer gators" and all that. It's become such a ridiculously common go to reference for investigative brush offs in stories that it being a nod towards Killer Croc could have been a happy accident.
even if its coincidence. This isn't the first time a reference was made towards characters in the comics in dialogue that Nolan inserted. In Batman Begins, a reference was made to Cats, implying a nod to the Catwoman when Fox is showing Bruce the body armor that would become the bat suit. Other references are to hard to ignore as a happy accident. Such as the reference to Mr Freeze and Clayface as well. Fox in this film talks to Wayne about his visit to Wayne Tower to the effect of him waking up from his "cryo-sleep" a nod to the way Mr Freeze froze his wife as he searched for a cure.
Rookie cop deduces his identity based on a facial expression. Police Commissioner not able to find out after almost a decade. 8/16/20: Okay, I get it, Gordon didn't want to know and I'm an idiot for not getting it. Doesn't mean he still doesn't have a brain. Now quit spamming the same thing a hundred times, people. Every day I check my notifications and read the same exact thing.
Dielon Gernhaust When did Bruce visit a boys' home? I thought he was either being Batman or running Wayne Enterprises. This also cements my point: how does a little kid know who Batman is when his face is hidden behind a mask, but Gordon's been on the force for more than 30 years and didn't know until he told him?
xunit94 When? Please tell me when, because this is the most confusing scene in the movie (I'll even accept the idea of King Joffrey from BB as being Blake).
This was one of my favorite scenes from the movie. It hit home like a ton of bricks. And to top it all off. "I'm still a believer in The Batman, even if you're not."
@Signore Colomma Actually no. This scene alludes to that certain people suspected that Bruce was Batman. Blake saw through the playboy persona and reasoned that Bruce must've been him, it wasn't just from a look as some people thought. Most of these alleged plot holes are explainable.
@Signore Colomma It's not nonsense as I've already stated. Some people bitched as to why nobody suspects that Bruce was Batman in the first two films and this scene actually debunks that. Blake's personal connection with Batman is made and how he became a legend among the orphans, also shown by the boy Mark who Blake visits before this scene. Many consider it to be the least but there are also plenty who consider it better than Batman Begins, and a number who think it's the best (including some professional film critics).
"You gotta learn to hide the anger, practice smiling in the mirror." This scene can relate to everyone on so many levels. This is why i love this movie, in fact, the whole trilogy.
Mila Lazic but he would have to know he is fictional and it’s all fictional like Deadpool so it’s cannoned Deadpools father was this Kid and he has the power to break the 4th wall
"Might be time to get some fresh air. Start paying attention to the details. Some of those details might need your help." Best lines in the entire series. Once you start volunteering for something you quickly realize how many selfless actions it takes to make a society work. So, enjoy good entertainment like this. But please consider getting out there and offering your time and energy to others if you have not already done so.
I love this scene, Levitt's delivery is so amazing. The line that always gets me: "Not a lot of people know what it feels like, do they? To be angry, in your bones..."
@@JThom529 Nah, usually people who say stuff like that are just pissed off and scared that deductive reasoning works and is a thing, as opposed to their own (inductive) mental facilities. Just because 1% of the population operates their brains differently doesn't mean they're wrong or "shitty."
@@JThom529 um in the comics the way he deduced it is how tim drake sorta figured it out too...so they used that as the basis for his reasoning in the film too..its for fans as an easter egg...it makes sense for the future batman as he became to have deductive skills and reasoning..bruce made note of it the way gordon did...theres a reason he has multiple seemingly pointless scenes with both of them to have them rub off on him and vice versa...hes not content like gordon with not knowing..he looked into and needs to know..hes robin in ever sense of the character..hes not someone that enjoys being ignorant he likes truth and justice not just being along for the ride..
I love this heart to heart Robin is having with Batman. It's wonderful to see him encourage Bruce to bring back the Batman, because Robin believes in Batman, and looks up to him, and wants to be like him.
"but then they want the angry little kid to do something he knows he can't do... move on." god that rings true I lost my dad to cancer when I was 14 and struggled a lot with anger and meaning, this trilogy saved my mindset I connected with batman to my soul.

Im sure your trauma is a fucking joke compared to what some kids have TRULEY gone through with violence and bad situations in third world hell holes. every fucking kid has trauama from something during their childhood, thats where shitty people come from, their the ones who let it mold and shape their adulthood.
Sean Harrison I completely agree. I always told myself the end of the movie seems more like batman beyond anyway. He resembles terry mcguiness pretty well
The part about being angry in yours bones is so true, angry all the time. It never leaves you and it takes a while to fake that smile. Then you have your own kids and you are so scared you can’t be there for them or you will loose them to. A life sentence for doing nothing wrong
Or a source of power to do what is right for those you love. Strength and Honor, bro. Fear is one of the least recognized forms of love, but it is also one of the most powerful. And you don't have to turn into Anakin because of it.
Right when I saw you, I knew who you really were. One of the most powerful lines, subtle to Blake knowing such a big secret and yet he doesn’t see it that way at all. He just knows that the batman is what Gotham needs
Minute 1:17 through 1:58 is special for me. I used to suffer from clinical depression and one day I mentioned this scene to my therapist. I wasn't a foster kid but everything he said I felt, everyone does understand for a while. I love this scene because I could relate to it, in a sense. Cheers.
i relate to that scene with how mum used to beat the shit out of me. This was early 2000's, noone wanted to know. A fat woman beeting up a 10yr old boy? whatever. Grow a pair. Oh now you got two black eyes. We'll tell your mum you said she gave you them. Oh now you got a broken nose and sratches on your face.... as he said in the monologue, you learn to smile and pretend everythings ok. Because noone wants to see the anger or frustration. was only after one particular bad beating did someone finally notice and ask "why didnt you tell anyone" and i was like "because noone was listening."
The words that describe best this scene, in my opinion: a masterly piece of acting. Being in a room with the great Christian Bale and his massive character, The Batman, and manage to steal his thunder, with a role that may have seemed minor at first; well, that is the sign of major talent. It's actually a moving scene, especially the part about the anger he feels as an orphan, and he conveys that admirably. Hats off to the marvelous Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who's gotten better and better over the years and is a joy to watch! 🙏🏻
This pretty much confirms that Blake is supposed to be the Timothy Drake of the Nolan Universe. In the comics, Tim was smart enough to realize that Bruce Wayne and Batman were the same person. If the Nolan Universe were to continue, Blake would probably end up being Red Robin.
He realised Dick Grayson was Robin after watching Robin perform The Flying Graysons signature move to take down Penguin (i think it was Penguin) on TV. And since Bruce was Dick's warden, he figured he had to be Batman.
true...but notice how much anger he has for wrongs of the world...he seems like he could turn into a semi criminal bitter vigilante like jason todd or become nightwing out of pride and self righteous settlement like richard grayson and not follow bruce all the way..be his own man with morals and sense of right
He's all 4 Robin's in one. Dick Grayson, the heir to the throne and first Robin, Jason Todd, angry street rat, Tim Drake, figured out his identity on his own, and Damien Wayne...eh...TRUE heir to the throne? First 3 are right for sure
Most people here will think what Blake says and how he deduced who Batman was as BS. I am an orphan and that anger in your bones part is 100% true. How your soul matures ahead of time. And for a few, you can tell who had to go through similar experiences just by looking at their faces, the way they move or "hide" it. So it's not such a far stretch people. Plus, he probably based some few facts as well: the money needed to become Batman, physical posture and build, etc etc.
No one's claiming that's not true, but it's a huge stretch from "he went through the same thing as me" to "he's Batman!" Bruce's parents' deaths are a matter of public record.
But he was able to deduce it based on evidence. Tim (a fan of the circus) saw a move that Robin did which he recognized as something only Dick Grayson did. Blake did no such thing. He went from Bruce is an angry orphan to he must be Batman. Gordon was completely taken aback, like he had NEVER thought of such a thing. There's willful ignorance, and then there's just plain gullibility.
The monologue is just amazing. It uses Blake as a voice for Batman who has similar experiences and thoughts but can never express them directly. Credits to Nolan for having kept this intimate scene in an action packed movie.
Blake knew he was Batman cause bruce never seemed like his parents death bothered him. And that's how bruce was able to keep his identity secret cause he played the arrogant billionaire. And blake could relate to him cause he realized bruce was just playing an act but he even said himself he figured it out to late about playing an act and hiding the anger
Don't really get how people forget the lines in Blake's monologue where he says he and the orphans, out of awe of billionaire Bruce, would make stories about him. Legends. And how only the other orphan kids would treat them just as stories vs. Blake who took them seriously. Basically, Blake did not say "Bruce is hiding his anger --therefore, he is Batman". He says that he and the other kids thought Bruce was awesome since he was rich. So, they made a story/legend about him where he is Batman, since Bruce is rich and little kids love Batman (shown by the bat symbol chalk drawings). But, only Blake took the story seriously since he knew that Bruce was hiding something through his fake persona.
the people who hate on this amazing movie make me laugh. There like "the joker is not in it therefore it sucks" They dont even think their argument through
So Blake figures out Bruce is Batman not from implausible detective skills, but from believing in stupid kids stories? That's even worse. "Hmmm, as a kid I thought Bruce was Batman, and I know he's hiding something, so I MUST be right! There's no other option!" God damn. He's lucky Alfred didn't press him further at the door. He'd never get in if that's all he's got. This is a fantastic movie, no doubt, but THIS scene and plot point is, was, and always will be ludicrously stupid no matter how you try to explain it.
don't waste time to explain this to these idiots. They don't understand anything and their pathetic attempts to hate on this amazing trilogy only make them look more dumb. Best movies abt Batman, period. Best script, music, director, best, brilliant actors, all of them.
This is ridiculously profound, and the orphan stories... there's something to that description of anger. It amazes me that there aren't more vigilantes that you hear about in this modern day. We don't really deserve a Batman, but we sure as hell need one or two.
I never liked this movie. Never, but I started watching it more and more and I grew to love it. I had alot of problems at home with my mom, but I never payed attention to this scene and quote. My mom died 2 months ago and I watched this again. I only now realise how it suits me. I have always been angry, but to others, I had to put on a smile. I had always been depressed but to others had to force out a laugh. And now all I hear is I understand what you are going through. That is only until the shock of what happened is over. But when the door stops ringing with people offering their sympathies, people have moved on they expect me to do the same. I know I cant, I am 16 and my mother is gone but they expect me to get over it. But when they see I cant, they just cast me out. Treat me as if I am below them. A cry for help is just a noise in the background to them. This quote never used to mean anything to me, but now it is the fuel driving me forward. This is the first comment I have ever made of this type but anyone struggling the way I did, PM me. Because I truly understand, not just temporarily get it.
Hi, I'm sorry to hear about your Mum. Your comment, puts everything I felt growing up, into words. My Dad died when I started high school, I was so angry for so long, and watching each movie in this trilogy is the only thing that got me through it. Seeing someone turn something so horrible into something positive was inspiring. When I look back on these movies, they chronicle my battle with depression, and they mean so much to me, I will never forget this movie, this scene. The end to Bruce's story helped me to realize that I'm ready to move on too, to not runaway from what has happened, but to put all my anxiety in a box and just find a better place for it. If you ever wanna talk about what you're going through, I'm here. Good luck with everything friend. Things do get better, when you are ready for them to be.
Simon Smolanko Your story really is an inspiring one my friend. Right now I tend not to think about how crap the whole situation is but I know one day I am going to have to come face to face with it and I dont know when it will be, but I only hope I can face it the same way you did. It is good to know that you came through it well and good and now you have given me a lot more hope for the future than I had before. Thank you so much.
My favorite and yet hardest scene to watch in what is my favorite batman film. Lost both my parents shortly before this came out and his description of what it's like broke me down to tears in the theatre. This film kept me strong in so many ways.
I'm sorry, I'm not sorry, this scene is amazing. Levitt kills the monologue, and you can already see the gears moving, ever so slowly, as Wayne sees a potential heir to the suit. I can't say I understand the detractors on this board. These stories are fantasies about people with incredible human abilities, as opposed to super powers. If you can't buy into Blake seeing Wayne for who he is...
Problem is that ppl nowadays can't wrap their heads around anything that isn't explicitly spelled out for them. So now you've got a whole pile of yahoos who geniunely believe Blake divined Batmans identity by recognizing a forced smile on Bruce years ago. Obviously Blake had a lot more leading up to that conclusion than that. Hell, it shouldn't have been THAT difficult to narrow down the list of possible candidates. What this scene really conveys is how smart Blake really is...and how much he and Wayne are alike.
It makes perfect sense. Pain knows pain + intuition. He's a lot like Bruce. He has a heightened sense of things. (Like a super Detective). Plus the cops and the Mobsters; weren't looking for his identity. They were just worried about what he was doing any given night. Not who he is... I guess it's just as possible or plausible, as A Batman, Robin, or Bane.
When I was a kid, I was placed in foster care. I was pissed off and angry beyond reconciliation over it. Every time I expressed that anger, I was sent to a mental hospital. I stopped, when I was placed in a foster home run by a black man. He explained to me that as long as I was honest with myself and the people in charge, I would be sent to those places. That’s how I learned to stop showing how I actually felt. How I actually feel. That’s What “Robin’s” speech made me think about. God bless that man who showed me how to behave.
I love how for a moment Blake loses himself for a moment n gets excited just talking about Bruce before going back to being serious. You can clearly see he was Batman's biggest fan. Cute
I always really liked the music in this scene. You hear it again in the movie but it’s hard to describe: a mixture of mystery, nostalgia, Hope and kind of eerie all coming at you at once. All of these movies were masterpieces.
At 1:18, a great quote and scene I can kind of relate to. Though mine isn't due to the lost of parent/s, but due to a medical condition. The anger and sometimes guilt that is that people don't know unless they have gone through it themselves.
Called him out for being Batman told him he understands why he hides and then in the end pretty much tells him to get off his ass and start helping people. Awesome!
This scene is golden. Not because it’s well-acted. But because it contains two wildly-talented former child actors who, over the decades, honed their craft.
1:49 - 1:55 was the one time I had ever had a moment of personal silence in a movie. Really hit home. Reason I like this seen, its a reminder to look forward to the happier days in life.
So Blake was the kid Batman saved in Batman Begins after Ras Al Ghul and Scarecrow freed the inmates, at the point where they were closing in on him and Rachel. That’s the scene when she asked Batman who he was, and he repeated her words back to her, “It’s not who you are underneath, but what you do that defines you” right before leaping from the top of St.Smithens. That’s great storytelling right there, tying together all the knots and such. Nolan is one of the greats no doubt.
This scene is why Bruce in trusts him with the cave and people still don’t get it. He sees himself in Blake without question and believes everything about him.
"Not a lot of people knows what it feels like, don't they... To be angry... in your bones..? I mean, they understand.. Foster parents, everybody understands.. for a while. Then they want the angry little kid to do something he knows he can't do: move on. So after a while they stop understanding. They send the angry kid to a boys' home. I figured it out to late. You gotta learn to hide the anger. Practice smiling in the mirror.. It's like putting on a mask. But right when I saw you, I knew who you really were. I'd seen that look on you face before... It's the same one I taught myself."~ John Blake.
LMFAO! at the idiots in the comments. No wonder inception is considered so great just because the audience to remember the rules of lucid dreaming.Audience: How did he know Wayne is Batman just from a look ?Of course he didn't. He knew that the playboy persona was false. Like Alfred said in BB Bruce needs to pretend to be a playboy to keep people from suspecting he was Batman. Blake saw through the persona. He saw that the debut and disappearance of Batman coincides with Wayne's and he connects the dots.
Andres Chau do all orphans become police officers? Does bruce visit every orphanage in town? Does every orphan struggle with his anger because he remember his father getting shot?
Andres blake went through a very similar experience, he put on a persona, he saw through wayne's act and his appearance and disappearance coincides with the batman. You can't force a plot hole into the movie. The audience is just too lazy and want everything to be spoon fed. How do you think Marvel made billions telling the same story in every movie?
I’m not an orphan or anything of that sort, but this scene is so relatable. The whole part about no one knows what it feels like to be angry in your bones, and having to hide your pain, that I relate to
i dont understand why this movie gets shit on.... its easily my favorite in the series and theres a ton of fantastic character moments like this, plot development, and overall brilliant writing
Saif Ahmed I agree. My dad would definitely agree with you on all that, since this movie is his favorite in the series. But I, & I guess others, felt like it was a bit of a step-down from Dark Knight
Scenes like this were obviously great, but the overall movie was indeed shit. First of all it took like an hour and a half before the movie finally started. And if you look at it from a cinemagraphic standpoint the filming and choreography of the fight scenes were pretty terrible. Extra's falling in the background without something even happening, shooting in thin air, walking in the wrong directions and don't even get me started on the first fight scene between batman and Bain when he broke his back, I actually laughed at that scene. It was a mess, Based on Christopher Nolans usually fantastic work, this looked more like a film school project sometimes. The dark knight will always remain a masterpiece, but this one isn't nearly on the same level. I wish it were, because it had so much potential.
@@chiraine1 No, the fight scenes were actually very practical though there are a few background mistakes. The film took an hour and half before anything? Did you smoke something? There was character development and building up to Batman's return to Gotham and Bane's revolution throughout the first half of the film.
This is my favor part because even hero’s need to be reminded the good they do when they lost there way and you make such an impression on others they can’t see you any other way then what you are..I love that.
some people aren't satisfied with what I do, they want me to be someone I can't be no matter how much I tried, it makes me angrier than I have ever been in life, then I watch this clip and I realise getting angry is not the right move, i just need to practice smiling in the mirror and it helps so much
Ya know, I know it's a movie... but that's true. People understand until they don't. They run out of patience and want you to just "be better." But you can't. Without a miracle, you'll always have that wound. Always.
Damn, this is actually a really, really good scene. ...Seen the movie several times over the years, but guess have missed some of the finer details. Kudos again to Nolan & Co. for giving us back one of our heroes.
The acting between levitt and bale in this scene is amazing. You could feel the emotion from officer blake and how he hopes batman will return to help gotham
@gogo dodo it means that your heart is filled with unimaginable and incomparable rage and hatred that could lead you to become a vengeful person. its like you wanted to hurt someone or you wanted to hurt or inflict pain to the whole society so bad that such rage and hatred lingers throughout your whole mind and body.
With all the generic predictable superhero sequel-setting garbage we are getting these days, a film as great as this in the genre doesn't even remotely seem possible to happen in the future. And I actually remember that I was disappointed with The Dark Knight Rises because it didn't live up to the hype after The Dark Knight. The bar is now just so fucking low.
It didn't help that Rises cam after Avengers. I was blown away by Avengers and at first I didn't like the "Batman being beaten and has to rebuild himself" story. And the non-cgi fights in Nolan's films gets cringy. But I grew to love it.
@@lonewolf604 My love for it was somewhat subdued at first due to my expectations for how certain plot points were going to play out. I grew to love it more and now I fully appreciate what they were going for. I never had much of a problem with the fights, despite some background flubs they're extremely effective. There's much more to the story than Bruce simply finding himself again. Rises still managed to be successful in its own right, comparing it to Avengers is apples and oranges. It was on more critics top 10 lists anyways, including the American Film Institute's list.
That was what annoyed me about the Dark Knight fans, they didn't get that Joker is the best villain of all Batman series. So of course when you take out him and Ras Al Ghul, its not like any movie would nearly measure up. It bugged me even more when most of these same people didn't even watch Batman Begins first...
This scene changed my life. It taught me more in five minutes than I learned in all my years in school growing up ... or in all the years in and out of jails and rehabs as a kid. "I am not the only one who got rich wearing a mask" -Big Sean, One Man Can Change The World This clip should be titled "what those liars who claim they are 'trying to help you' won't teach you in rehab" or maybe "stop being genuine" haha
The joker movie that just came out has some resemblance to this scene. You hide the anger. Practice smiling in the mirror.its like putting on a mask. How crazy is that.
This trilogy was some of the finest in CINEMA for the decades. Now all we get is NOISE & ZERO story. I wish Nolan’s talents would never leave is. It’s a GIFT & he’s a true master of it.

I like that Killer Croc reference.
Easter egg?
where ?
+Rishem Bhogal sorry . But Batman Gotham Knight is part of Nolan's films ?

He realized when he was kid; when bruce visited his boys home. being a cop had nothing to do with it
Dielon Gernhaust When did Bruce visit a boys' home? I thought he was either being Batman or running Wayne Enterprises.
This also cements my point: how does a little kid know who Batman is when his face is hidden behind a mask, but Gordon's been on the force for more than 30 years and didn't know until he told him?
Spent Lizard he viseted the orphanage
Spent Lizard Are you deaf? He said he visited him when he was a kid
xunit94 When? Please tell me when, because this is the most confusing scene in the movie (I'll even accept the idea of King Joffrey from BB as being Blake).
“Bruce doesn’t take visitors...even from police officers”
I wish I had that power.
You do... unless they have a warrant..
Notice even he doesn't actually have that power.
You actually do it's a called asking for a warrant, until then their ass ain't stepping one step inside the house.
That is not even close to the line.....
Cuz he is Bruce WAYNE .

I believe in Moon Knight
Ladies Love the Moon Knight you mean that crazy psychotic hero? Yeah I believe in him too
Such a great scene, connects the audience with the Batman persona.
"You gotta learn to hide the anger, practice smiling in the mirror."

God damn Joseph Gordon-Levitt is downright amazing in virtually every acting role he has had.
he will always be tommy from 3rd rock to me..
Except as Cobra Commander.
I was amazed by how good he was as a young actor in 3rd Rock. He's done nothing to disappoint since.

Still a shitty way to draw the conclusion that Bruce is Batman
Really? I don't know. Something about Joseph really annoyed me in this movie.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt would have made a better "Batman Beyond" than Nightwing.

Cheers.
Yeah this part of the scene that you mentioned is my favourite.
i relate to that scene with how mum used to beat the shit out of me.
Man the level of emotional depth that Nolan puts in his movies is just beyond appreciation
He was really great in Looper too.
He never stole bales thunder...only heath ledger did in dark knight
This pretty much confirms that Blake is supposed to be the Timothy Drake of the Nolan Universe. In the comics, Tim was smart enough to realize that Bruce Wayne and Batman were the same person. If the Nolan Universe were to continue, Blake would probably end up being Red Robin.
Yummmmm
@@tylerjaynes822 He also shares Dick Grayson's affinity with police work.
Plus, he probably based some few facts as well: the money needed to become Batman, physical posture and build, etc etc.
exactly. if you guys are gonna nitpick just use your brain
There's willful ignorance, and then there's just plain gullibility.
the first cop to do his job right in over 10 years and he finds out who batman is..... nice job bruce
You know it doesn't help that he vanished for years the same time Batman vanished aswell, which most likely made him believe even more.
There like "the joker is not in it therefore it sucks" They dont even think their argument through
Michael Colby you're right none of them think there argument through because "some men just want to watch the world burn"-alfred
nate rick exactly
So Blake figures out Bruce is Batman not from implausible detective skills, but from believing in stupid kids stories? That's even worse. "Hmmm, as a kid I thought Bruce was Batman, and I know he's hiding something, so I MUST be right! There's no other option!"
God damn.

It's trash and anyone who likes it doesn't know Batman and will never know what a real Batman movie is.
This is ridiculously profound, and the orphan stories... there's something to that description of anger. It amazes me that there aren't more vigilantes that you hear about in this modern day. We don't really deserve a Batman, but we sure as hell need one or two.
One of the greatest scenes in an epic film. Joseph Gordon-Leavitt just owns this scene, and Christian Bale speaks volumes with his silence.

Hi,
I'm sorry to hear about your Mum.

You got that right. My fav scene in the movie
What this scene really conveys is how smart Blake really is...and how much he and Wayne are alike.
i get all that;
i still don't get how the hell he KNEW who Batman was just by facial recognition and crap.
array s you’re too stupid to understand
Brothas really do kno how to hold the anger in.
Thank you to Nolan for making these films. Batman might be a fictional character but some of these quote relate so much to real life
I love how for a moment Blake loses himself for a moment n gets excited just talking about Bruce before going back to being serious. You can clearly see he was Batman's biggest fan. Cute

Tom getting over summer
This scene is why Bruce in trusts him with the cave and people still don’t get it. He sees himself in Blake without question and believes everything about him.
"Not a lot of people knows what it feels like, don't they... To be angry... in your bones..? I mean, they understand.. Foster parents, everybody understands.. for a while. “You wanna know my... secret identity?”
LMFAO! at the idiots in the comments.
+Avi Mittal does that mean all orphans that became police offers also know his secret?
Andres Chau do all orphans become police officers?
Does bruce visit every orphanage in town?
Does every orphan struggle with his anger because he remember his father getting shot?
Andres blake went through a very similar experience, he put on a persona, he saw through wayne's act and his appearance and disappearance coincides with the batman. You can't force a plot hole into the movie. The audience is just too lazy and want everything to be spoon fed. How do you think Marvel made billions telling the same story in every movie?
Avi Mittal exactly
Avi Mittal A fucking men.
Oh it’s your favorite in the series? Well then that’s an excellent reason why this movie is so great! Because it’s your favorite!

Damn, this is actually a really, really good scene. ...Seen the movie several times over the years, but guess have missed some of the finer details. Kudos again to Nolan & Co. for giving us back one of our heroes.
That's great dialogue.
Still one of the best monologues in film history.
Wow. Excellent writing and excellent acting by JGL. What a great film.
So many powerful scenes in a single movie and still some people don't like it.
Yesssir
The film's never meant to please everybody. Just enough number of people will do.
At the end they hinted that Blake was going to take Bruce’s place. I’m still waiting for a nightwing spin off staring by him.
He could've been a cool Robin
+JordanMGR if the dark knight continuity was still in place he would have been the new batman, not robin.
Skyflower - Like Batman beyond?
sorar4 naa it's just like "mJ" from spiderman homecoming .. doesn't count , not the same
Skyflower - since he's more of a batman at the end (supposedly) it'd be cooler if that lady said "I like your real name , Terry"
BAT-TALK! Yes if John Blake did become the new Robin then I would love to see him in the costume if possible
Because he is Robin, he always knows
The music accents the dialog the well..
The background music starting at 0:52 till the end is chilling..
0:37 Killer Croc
The acting between levitt and bale in this scene is amazing. You could feel the emotion from officer blake and how he hopes batman will return to help gotham
As someone who lost very close relatives, this scene cut right to my core.... powerful stuff indeed...
To be angry... in your bones 😔
That was deep
Let the past die, shred it if you have to.
I can relate to this line on a molecular level.
@gogo dodo you're welcome ☺
It's a great movie, and not all superhero films are generic.
It taught me more in five minutes than I learned in all my years in school growing up
... or in all the years in and out of jails and rehabs as a kid.
"I am not the only one who got rich wearing a mask"
-Big Sean, One Man Can Change The World
This clip should be titled "what those liars who claim they are 'trying to help you' won't teach you in rehab" or maybe "stop being genuine" haha
