4 Easy Steps for DEFEATING the Rebel Alliance

- The Galactic Empire never really understood how the rebellion worked and therefore didn't understand how to defeat them. Today we provide an easy 4 step program that would've done just that.

You forgot the fifth step!
Remove their plot armor!
its built in unfortunately
Aye vod. At least give us a chance scumbags!
@Generation Tech
That’s why you have anti plot-armor rounds to render it ineffective. They have rebels: the empire has a Thrawn, a galaxy of resources and spies, propaganda, etc. Mon Mothma is a pacifistic imbecile with no idea of how to win wars. It would be so easy to crush people like her, just take a page out of the Roman way of putting down rebellions.
There is an...another way for those willing to do what is necessary. The pathway of the Dolphin side of the Force is not one the Jedi would tell you. It is a pathway to abilities some consider to be...wet. Know the power of the Dolphin and be strong enough to break the power of plot armor. Join the Dolphin side and we shall have peace between mammals and aquatics.
Essentially, the Empire needed the high ground.
TL;DW answer: Thrawn should have been running the entire Empire.
Thrawn would’ve known what todo

@@GenerationTech No, because as smart as Thrawn was, he's not politically savvy. If he was, he'd know when to treat with the Rebels and when to fight with them. He would have united the remnants of the Empire, but then made treatises with the New Republic back in the old novels so that he can use them as allies against the Vong. Instead, he just wanted to kill them all. In the new canon, he gets outsmarted by a fucking Padawan and gets kidnapped by Hentai monsters. A smart politician would either A) keep the Rebels alive to use as a scapegoat and an excuse to build up the military, or B) compromised with the Rebels to create a more open and tolerant Empire that people wouldn't be afraid to do business with.

That's why this is my favorite era of Star Wars. It's way more complicated than Disney can comprehend.
Disney's done a pretty good job of it, actually. Everything about Saw's Partisans is Disney. Solo and Rebels showed the economic exploitation angle in a way the original movies don't. The book Lost Stars shows what can drive good people to join the Empire and fight for it to the end. The Twilight Company and Inferno Squad novels show the complexities of some Rebel backgrounds and a reasonably competent Imperial counterinsurgency operation, respectively. The Resistance show has an arc about a character whose family history with the Empire was "my granddad got a job at their factory and liked it", leaving her with a more positive view of the Empire and First Order.

Funny, if the empire had done things more like the Romans they would have been more successful. The Romans had a huge empire, although compared to the empire in star wars it was tiny. The point is their emperors understood they had to keep the people happy while also keeping the peace. If the empire had been better at doing this they would have lasted longer.
Wasn’t the roman model more about they would conquer people, rape and pillage, then say “hey, you’re romans now, so you get to benefit from any future raping and pillaging”. I think that’s basically what the Empire did, only they didn’t last long enough to get to the third part.
Have practical vehicle designs? And keep some clones to hunt down rebels?Maybe like their own Elite Corps while the stormtroopers stay as garrison and border units?
there were a few clones, but they were pretty old by the time of New Hope
@Gaius Wyrden Nope the Imperial vehicles were for the most part build for fear and intimidation instead of practicality(AT-AT vs AT-TE for example).
The quality of stormtroopers also decreased as the demand for the Galactic Civil War increased because their training was rushed.
@Gaius Wyrden yea but how much more expensive is an AT-AT compared to an AT-TE. Oh and hard to destroy?
*laughs in speeders* And let's be honest using the AT-AT anywhere that's not flat terrain is just not possible.
@Gaius Wyrden really any terrain? I have a hard imagining AT-ATs on mountains(though I do really like the AT-M6s) while AT-TEs can go on near vertical terrain.
HUNDREDS of being AT-TEs destroyed by a SINGLE roket launcher? Yea that's bullshit.
Also plot armour?? The rebels LOST that battle

Good points Allen. The Rebellion ultimately won because the Empire combined being corrupt and unethical with being incompetent. The Death Star was a massive waste of resources that could have been far better spent on economic reforms and the establishment of sophisticated intelligence services. Consider an Empire intelligence service that focused on recruiting Changelings that were dedicated to the cause - they could be the ultimate spies.
You are also right that Saul's Partisans were a gift to the Empire from a propaganda standpoint - they would have made it laughably easy to tar the whole Rebellion with the same brush as criminals and terrorists. If the Empire had worked to increase the prosperity of the citizenry, and then cast itself as the guarantor of the prosperity and the security that makes it possible, then they could have readily convinced the bulk of the galactic population to view the Rebels as nothing more than a rag-bag collection of extremists, malcontents and pirates, and the Empire's actions against them would have been seen as wholly justified. It would never have been necessary to build something as ludicrous as the Death Star. still less actually use it to destroy Alderan.
As usual, the Empire (and especially the truly staggering stupidity of its leadership, which is doubly odd since as you observe we know Palpatine can do so much better) is its own worst enemy.
Spend some of those resources into gradually revealing the Yuuzhan Vong as an imminent threat.
Fuck, just bring in a scout ship, interrogate the pilot, dose the guy with truth serum and use mind-tricks to get him to tell the truth, then make the interrogations public. It would be enough to scare the Rebels into cooperation.

Someone say right please
Jae Caesar 🤔
British Ben is AWOL, send help.
The application of force is always a problem. There's a little experiment I've tried with that concept. I set down a bowl of dry food mixed with wet food for my dog then I tried pushing my dog towards the food. Even though she wanted the food, she resisted when I pushed her towards it. The same principle applies to people. Nobody likes to feel like they're being forced to do a thing even if it's a thing that they already wanted to do. Instead of developing the Death Star and using a renewable energy project as a cover, the Empire should have just pursued renewable energy research. That would have generated a great many jobs. Ironically enough, it would also allow them to research and develop super laser technology that is cheaper more efficient and smaller then the death star's super laser. If they simply used the free market economic model, they would have had more super weapons at a lower price.
But that would mean the Emperor would only have Limited Power. He would shiver at the thought.
@@johnycoho7830 in time, hos power would be far greater than it ever could've been under the Tarkin Doctrine. Using the armies of droids that were deactivated at the end of the clone wars would have made slavery unnecessary and developing new technologies within a free market system would generate countless jobs. The rebel alliance would be starved for new recruits because the population at large would have no reason to rebel. The more advanced and smaller super laser technology could also be installed on capital ships. What good is a planet killer? Sure you destroyed everyone on that planet and scared a bunch of people, but now you also cannot use that the planet so it's all a bit wasteful. Who needs planet killers when you have fleet killers? Rebels can't fight human space if they starve planetside. They can't fight you on the land if they can't get to the planet on which your troops are stationed. Palpatine spent decades playing the long game in order to become the Galactic Emperir only to abruptly abandon every tactic that got him there in the first place. He was basically being evil for the sake of being evil. When you look at it logistically, he's no better than the villain of a Saturday morning cartoon.
Which Sci-Fi faction has the best Starfighters: Galactic Republic(Star Wars), Imperial Navy(40k), Terran Dominion(Starcraft), Systems Alliance(Mass Effect), UNSC(Halo), Earth Alliance(Babylon 5)
I have this debate all the time. The TIE Interceptor is the most superior of the fighters, if we include all fighters from every faction, the Avenger and the Defender in the GE also super outperform the fighters from the other factions.
Considering that they range from space planes to realistic with multidirectional thrusters, amongst other things such as tech level disparity, the best comparison would be how they perform in their own universe imo.

You could have just said "Be like Thrawn" and most Star Wars fans would understand...
So you gotta be Sun Tzu in order to defeat the rebellion. Then again, rebellions are built on hope
Randy Cheow
To defeat your enemy first you must know them through their art and history and politics then you turn their strengths into Weaknesses then you crush them.
Randy Cheow who dat in your profile pic?
Lousy foundation.
To defeat your enemy you shouldn't create more. The empire only for the death stars sake created whole rebellions for its construction. In a whole galaxy to police it's nearly impossible to deal with them.
The Empire in huge parts ALSO was build on hope - hope for security and stability. A hope that stays strong even after the fall of the Empire in both legends and canon. People like Pellaeon or Sloane hardly did fight for power or grief.
Many ordinary Imperials surely saw hope in the Empire. It is the only reason why the Empire in legends was able to fight on more than a decade despite internal struggle and why it was able to make peace on just terms. And in canon the hope of a better government was what drive so many parts of the New Republic to betray the ideas of this Republic and joining the cause of the First Order.
Well, the Senator from Taris has some history to reflect upon what it means to say "no" to the Sith :P
They didn't even say "no," Malak was in full control of the planet and just got impatient.

Hey, can we get a label or something saying who is hosting the video? I honestly watch for Allen and I'm getting tired of closing the video when it turns out Allen isn't hosting
A key weakness of the Empire was its exploitative nature - as a practical matter, the Empire's goal was the human and Core World domination (economically and otherwise) of nonhuman and Rimward planets. Feeling unrepresented, impoverished and exploited by an easily identifiable foreign foe, it should surprise no one that so many on these planets struck back.
That must have been much time in the making. It is easy to see the problem, but not that easy to figure out how to fix it.
I aplaud you, Alen (and probably the team the chanel has) for this video. I like to imagine how things could have been better for the Galactic Empire.

Ok just want to put out that Palpatine/Sidious was still very much the calculating figure from the prequel's the difference is that during the civil war he gave the dealing of the rebels to Moffs and Admirals as he went about building his dark side powers really he didn't take it seriously till Yavin and we don't see him really take charge of the situation until Endor where he is shown using his prequel tactics to set up an ambush if he had taken charge before Yavin I feel the alliance would have lost the war.

Instead the deathstar, the empire needed the power of Allen's fully operational balls, their cruisers can't deflect manpower of that magnitude
Yo dude could you make a video on what happened to clones taken by geonosians? I've wondered forever
I think ultimately, Sidious’ success against the jedi and republic blinded him. I think almost overnight he stopped thinking he needed to be careful, cautious, and manipulate everything from behind the scenes. Because he’d won, it was over. Unhappy resistance groups were just footnotes in the long history of his rule that he was writing.
With two of the main figures of the rebellion mon mothma and Bail organa being from the core worlds you could argue they that only want the republic back because that's when their worlds had the most influence when the core and some mid time had all the benefits.
Have you seen a doctor about that dolphin plague of yours? I can still hear a difference...
I would love to see a video about if our modern day weapons could beat star wars the clone wars armour and tanks
I would have equipped the TIE fighters with shields and missiles

Repost from my comment on similar video:
Angelo Codevilla in his book "War: Ends and Means" actually explained the strategy to beat guerrilla like the Rebel Alliance:
1) Conquer most important parts of the territories.
2) Fortify those areas and their connections heavily.
3) Make sure that life outside those fortified areas is worse than hell.
4) Wait and watch the guerrillas rots and dies one by one.
In essence, the guerrillas and their supporters had to be separated. The hard part is #3, because it is definitely inhumane. Oh wait, you are an evil empire who don't give a d*mn about those pesky things. Problems solved!
Step 1: Get a droid with valuable information on an imperial base to defect to the alliance and gain their trust.
Step 2: The droid will access a computer and connect itself to the rebel secret network so it will know where is the rebel base, all the alliance ships and the rebel spies.
The galactic empire wants to know your location
If anything the Empire failed to pair great rewards with the harsh punishments. Something akin to the Roman system of law would fit them perfectly.

Just an idea, maybe you can make a video talking about how the general population felt about the clone war being waged by the "revived" Sith. Count Dooku didnt exactly keep a low profile in name or appearance. The sith haven't been relevant in a millenia. Would people just look at it liike Mousillini vowing to revive the roman empire in WWII? Just an idea about a video
All Palpatine wanted was in **Every** Sith's nature, which is complete and utter domination of where they lived
He just wanted a frekking throne inside of a moon-sized lasergun, and I highly doubt he cared about what came after, plus I think it's possible that he became arrogant because of his success, which caused him to view his foes afterward as little more than insects that can be ignored
Who else agrees?

While the "tolerance" for authoritarian regimes has been present throughout human history, this does not make it uniform or that the "tolerance" for it is to such levels that people truly "enjoy" it. This has generally been because empires on Earth have faced rebellions for various reasons.
In Chinese history, much of that has often related to dynastic changes depending on who is the Emperor or the leader, depending on which government is in power. This then periodically meant civil wars in Chinese history between various dynastic houses. And this sort of trend did not stop even after the dawn of the 20th Century and the end of China's last dynasty. In this, the Chinese Nationalists and Communists were fighting each other in civil war even BEFORE Japan invaded in the 30s. Mao would ultimately secure power directly in the years after World War 2, but this does not mean that the people are totally "fine" with his rule, and that the Chinese government has depended on a limited access to external information... as seen in news reports that internet access is heavily restricted in China so as to limit the average Chinese citizen from learning that there are other paths from what the government wants to do. And while in China, this has been reasonably successful, it is not universal and that the Chinese government has still used military force to keep those that might rebel in line, see what happened in Tiananmen Square... Now, much of this is limited, but it should also be noted that China is a pretty homogenous country with relatively few areas where there would be other issues to try and control... such as other cultures that may differ from them.
And that is something that has frequently plagued great empires. For much of its history, Rome was a great empire with a strong military and a reasonably strong economy for much of its history. But in the course of its years of conquest, it conquered and ruled over a diverse set of tribes and other civilizations that couldn't or didn't integrate well into the Empire. This had often meant that conquered peoples often preferred to be under their own leadership rather than under Rome's leadership. In some cases, these rebellions sprang up during the periods of conquest, as was the case with the Gauls and Vercingetorix, or came later as a result of imperialist cruelty, as would be the case with the revolt of the Iceni during the reign of Nero. Some came from not only cultural but religious differences, as would be the case in Judea/Palestina where the local Jewish population launched two separate uprisings against Roman rule, as they couldn't accept many of the Roman demands on religious grounds. As the monotheistic Jews (and later Christians) could not and would not recognize deceased Emperor's as gods. To the Romans this worked with regard to their polytheistic religion, but the Jews couldn't do that. All of these required massive military crack downs and largely kept the Roman military spread out to operate more as a policeman than as a military in case some group preferred local rule to Roman rule for varying reasons.
And within Western politics, this would only increase by the time you get to the 1800s and the rise of nationalism begins, which greatly weakens and makes the rule over multi-ethnic countries difficult. As Austria, Russia, and the Ottoman Turks all had to deal with these issues in some way shape or form. The only way to really hold these states together would be to allow some sense of local authority and division of governmental power, similar to the United States with power divided between Washington DC and the 50 member states in a way that both sides have checks on the other's power. And some figures in these countries had ideas that functioned along those lines. But these states also tended to be authoritarian and struggled with that concept for years. Austria especially struggled, particularly when the Hungarians in the mid 1800s proved to be the most vocal about their own autonomy, which inevitably forced a compromise, which created "Austria-Hungary" with two separate legislatures united under the Hapsburg King. Franz Ferdinand would ultimately push for what Austria needed in the late 1800s to early 1900s, with ideas that were loosely based on what he'd observed in the US and saw it as a means to stabilize issues in Russia, but he had a lot of rivals in the Austrian court and his assassination in 1914 made attempting that impossible. The result is that by the time WWI ended, the ethnic groups in Austria were more than happy to break away. Turkey was also dismantled by WWI, though much of their ethnic issues was ultimately solved in the 20s when most of those who saw themselves as Turks living in Greece went to Turkey and those who saw themselves as Greek went to Greece. "Russia" held together through military force until the late 80s when the Soviet economy finally collapsed... and while Putin has brought back a lot of Russia's old power... he's also done so through militarism and murder of his enemies and arresting other resistance groups.
And sometimes, even if the regime manages to avoid rebellion, that does not make the government stable. Take the case with Spain. In the 1930s, the old Spanish monarchy was deposed in favor of a Republic, largely lead by a Center-Left Socialist movement. This frustrated and angered Spanish Conservatives and militarists, who united behind a military revolt lead by Franco. Franco won the Spanish Civil War, murdered most, if not all, of the leading figures of the Spanish Republicans that he could and ruled as dictator for years. To a certain extent he could claim to have "improved" Spain's economic situation and provided it with stability that from Franco's point of view benefitted all of Spain, which he claimed was something that the Spanish Republicans could never do. This would then surely mean that when Franco died and Spain held actual elections.... Franco's party would SURELY win a massive government majority, right? Nope. The government that ultimately replaced Franco, as voted on by the Spanish people was pretty much lead by the same sentiments that Franco had fought so hard to crush in the 30s. Meaning the idea of the Spanish Republic did not die with the Spanish Civil War and years of Franco's rule.
Which, by comparison to Star Wars... because the Republic had been around for quite a lengthy period of time with a legacy of peace and prosperity before Palpatine's rise to power... simply throwing money at people is NOT going to make them become unquestioning Empire supporters. Which means the comparison to China is not valid. The Empire also encompassed many planets with differing alien races and a diverse set of human cultures as well, which would mean that the comparison to modern China is ALSO not valid. In this, the Empire NEEDED major military force in order to maintain control to keep various aliens in line and any human culture that tended to be more "democratic" or more "pro-Jedi" from gaining influence in the background, for if these groups gained authority and influence and wealth... there would be the potential for major pushes for reforms that would undermine Imperial rule. And these issues would continue to the point when Palpatine/Vader die... what replaces them might just have the Republic restored by a vote instead of a continuation of the Empire under some new form.
The Rebel Alliance/Alliance to Restore the Republic (in the beginning) remind me of the White Army during the Russian Civil War- while the Red Army was unified (at least at that time), the Whites were made up of monarchists, democratic reformers, secessionists, etc. (as well as some foreign volunteers); as opposed to the Reds, who were just one faction. While the Reds, at least seemingly, considered the Whites as a unified force, and therefore it took a relatively long time to defeat them, though technically speaking, the Whites kind of defeated themselves.
Getting near BBY the Empire was committed, so the best option was to scare aliens into submission by targeting homeworlds of species that are overrepresented in the Rebellion.
Basically don't blow up Alderaan because that turns a _lot_ of humans against you, even some of your own people, instead target Mon Calamar.
The entire species was in rebellion and they were strategically and logistically formidable, destroying their planet would cripple the entire species and make every other alien race try to turn in/dissuade/eliminate any rebellious elements to protect their species.
Destroying a human world is just too risky, and besides there are just too many humans, but most aliens have only one planet and that makes them vulnerable to threats.
So the Rebellion becomes basically human only with a few alien rogues, but no alien government support. That limits their adaptability and also helps with infiltration since mostly humans will be joining.
And most human governments are involved with the Empire, those that aren't are vulnerable to imperial agents (ever tried getting a imperial officer inserted into Mon Calamari, tweelik or Wookie organizations, it requires a bit of of make up, Alderaan is easy).
While that won't destroy the rebellion it becomes two human groups fighting each other, which makes it easier for the Empire.

If you are seeing this you are a true Star Wars fan and it is up to you to copy and paste this around the Star Wars fandom
Thank you for reading this and being a true Star Wars fan
That type of logic is flawed. Here's why.
If you have a large enough fanbase which Star Wars definitely does, some fan-made content WILL be better than official content just by sheer probability. That doesn't prove that the official product is bad.
I never said all the official content is bad... but can you honestly tell me last Jedi is a good movie
NO!!! That’s not true! That’s impossible
I totally agree!
Search your underpants; you know it to be true.
If Artoo and Threepio were destroyed escaping the Tantive, how would Attack on the Death Star play out?
(I imagine the rebels would have had an all out last chance standoff, RotJ style, but instead of invade a weakpoint they launch an internal assault)
Attempting to disable the superlaser.
There is only one step. Build more Deathstars.
5:46 I didn't know Vsauce was canon!
im sorry, but i have to ask. is that a christmas tree in your room? we can only see a small bit of it, but it looks like a christmas tree lol
Sounds legit.
You're giving the right answer to the wrong question. Palpatine never really gave two shits about the Rebel Alliance. In fact, he ALLOWED them to rise to power so he can have a boogeyman. Half the reason why he always gets into a war is so that he can increase his power further. Destroying the Alliance isn't the goal-it should be "how to keep them at bay, but functional." Palpatine always wanted an outside threat so he can justify jacking up taxes for the military or suspending/closing down the Senate. Palpatine could have just used the Force to feel out where the Rebels were and had them annihilated by the Imperial fleet, but he didn't. Vader even tells him that they were using Sullust as a base, and he didn't give two wet shits about it. Why? Because wiping them all out was never the goal. He was more concerned with getting Luke Skywalker as an apprentice so that he can use the young Jedi's prodigious power in the Force to continue Darth Plagueis' experiments.
If there's no Rebellion, then the Empire has no foe, which means that there's no need for a suspension of the Senate or for the massive military buildup. Which means Palpatine will have no recourse but to cut military spending and allow the Senate to return to power. Which means Palpatine will start to lose political and military power during peace.
Look at the Clone Wars: Palpatine rose to power by creating a war. He then cemented that power by creating the Empire and then expanding the Empire towards the Outer Rim as he eradicated or enslaved species that served the old Confederacy or tried to stop him. If the Empire is at peace, if the Rebellion is destroyed, then there's no reason for an all-powerful Emperor with his own pet Sith Lord leading a massive military to keep the peace. That is why Palpatine needs the Rebellion to keep existing: they're threatening enough to be a boogeyman, not threatening enough to kill him. Only Vader was strong enough to do it. The Rebels were making moves that he could easily predict, and had it not been for Luke turning the Ewoks into allies or convincing Vader to betray his master, then the Emperor would remain in power.
Point 2 reminded me of the fact that the idea of democracy and voting is a very western idea, most of the world population don't think of that as absolute right. So you must always tailor your message to the population your trying to work. Most people as long as there fed, got work to do and/or entertainment along with some luxuries and safety and security. will only grumble at most about thinks. throughout history this has been shown, how do you think some empires or nations lasted so long. the same applies even in our modern democracy to a degree.
What annoys me is that we think we have the right to force other countries into democracy. Sounds too much like colonialism. Just because it works for us doesn't mean it works for everyone. Democracy cannot be pushed on people. It has to come when the people are ready. If their current system works for them, let them be. If it's time for a change, do not deny them the right to fight for their own freedom.
@@patwiggins6969 I agree.
Still think that the distruction of alderaan killed billions but it showed what length the empire would go to destroy the rebellion. It basically would unite billions to fight the empire because of the fact that the empire doesn't provide protection to innocents caught in the cross fire
Hi
If Imperial forces could hit anything at all the Rebels would have lost. How many stormtroopers does it take to screw in a lightbulb? I don't know, we can't get them to do it even in massive groups.
The last one wouldn’t even be possible because of, well Palpatine
Is that a sith robe you're wearing?
Long live the galactic empire
When’s season 2 of Clone Wars History?
