  • You'll never rig a dropshot the same after watching this! Dropshot fishing is a very effective way to catch a lot of bass and the standard dropshot rig works great! But, if you try this new way on how to rig a dropshot you will be catching more bass in areas where they don't see a dropshot. This has quickly become one of my favorite techniques and favorite ways how to fish a dropshot, give it a shot next time you are fishing!

I use that same technique with the Texas rigged dropshot Robo worm for largemouth in brush and trees. I usually tie a knot below the dropshot weight to keep it from coming of, but will release if hung up tightly.

For some reason I just could not bring myself to
fish this rig. After watching this video and hearing how amazing this technique is I need to wake up and do it.
I don’t have smallmouth where I fish so your largemouth set is calling me.
    Thank you sir
We do have spotted bass too

Drop shot rig with Roboworm (I prefer the chartreuse tail) is my go to rig. I need to pick up some of those VMC hooks. Great information.

I like the knot on the tail end. Seems extra simple now but I'd never heard this trick. Maybe I'll try those barrel weights again soon. Thanks for another learning experience. WINNING!

Makes good sense! 😊 Thank you!

Awesome! So much good info here. I use the Medium Light for smallmouth, but will use the medium for largemouth. Great tip on including overhand knots on the weight -- I did that already since I lost so many weights! Glad to have that strategy confirmed by a great PRO fisherman (that's you).
I LOVE you talk about North fishing, since I live/fish in New Hampshire.
Keep the tips coming! Hope you are enjoying iCast.

I always stop at a drop shot video to see if I can pick something up. I have been using this technique for 2 Summers now and, although I had a ton more success in 2022, I still always have one tied on. You talk like someone who has had a lot of success recently using this technique, it shows in your voice. It looks like you are a fan of a weedless setup but, all of the time. I was using a weedless a few weeks ago because, there is so much underwater vegetation at my lake. It worked well but, I felt like I was losing some fish. I used a Gamakatsu size 1 EWG hook with mine but, was on the lookout for a size 2 to drop down in size a little. I have some of those VMC Neko hooks but, haven't tried a straight shank hook on a weedless drop shot yet. I just like the idea of skin hooking an EWG better. As for a 6" worm, my fish seem to rarely even take the 4" Zoom worm unless I bite a piece off and shorten it. I don't know what that's all about. One tip with the Palomar knot, pull the knot "wad" down through the hook eye and make it actually sit on the bottom of the hook for more horizontal support. Anyway, great video and have fun at ICAST!

What do you think of power shotting with straight braid flipping hook and an ounce weight versus the standard flipping and punching Rig
