  • Welcome back to Alpha Hotel Flight Simulator Training.
    This video will be part one of a two part series on the differences in the NXI upgrade for the G1000 panel. This video will focus on the non-navigational differences, and the second part will focus on the differences in the navigational system/GPS.
    The NXI is an upgraded version of the G1000 panel by Working Title that works much more like the real life unit than the old unit that came with MSFS. Learning to use all of it's functions and features can greatly enhance you MSFS experience.
    At the time of this video's release, the NXI was available to all users for free through the in-game marketplace - but it will become the default panel in all G1000 equipped aircraft with Sim update 10 (currently scheduled for a August 23rd 2022 release.)

      That's good feeback, thanks! My content tends to be of a longer form than most creators in this niche - but I try to include as much detail as I think folks need to be able to understand the subject, and that results in longer videos. Glad to know the bookmarks are helpful.

    New to your Chanel and look forward to a full flight tutorial of the NXI post SU10 incorporating the new LNAV and VNAV approach features. This is a great video. Noticed you had KNEW in the PFD. Got my ticket in 1995 at 65LA prior to the G1000. I had a Garmin 91, if you remember that unit.

      MrScott - Glad you enjoyed the video. I've actually published part 2 of the series. It's available here: czcams.com/video/Pi1KP4NW534/video.html
      It covers all aspects of flight planning with the NXI, including loading SIDS, STARS, and approaches (including RNAV approaches and the new visual approaches.) It was made with sim update 9 and the marketplace version of the NXI, but the only thing that wasn't functional at time was enroute VNAV, which I talk about how to use.
      I've never actually been to KNEW in real life, though I've flown over it a few times, and worked as a CFI not too terribly far from there. Also had a friend and fellow CFI that instructed in the New Orleans area.
      I never flew with the Garmin 91. I had an old Garmin handheld that was similar to the 195 (but smaller, with a monochrome screen.) When I started instructing, the GNS 430 was becoming popular and we had it installed in a few of our trainers, so I became pretty familiar with it - but GPS for aviation was still in it's infancy, and shooting GPS approaches was a brand new thing for a lot of us then.
      Again, glad you enjoyed the content, and thanks for watching!

    Great coverage. Thanks.
    The Working Title team are doing a stellar job bringing increased functionality to what has been a very disappointing default G1000 at release in MSFS. I believe they are also working on the GNS430/530 too. I'm running the SU10 beta at the moment and the NXi updates coming in the SU10 release includes the much requested ability to enter a flight plan in the G1000 and have the MSFS ATC system recognise it.

    • @AlphaHotelFlightSimulation
      @AlphaHotelFlightSimulation  Před 2 lety +2

      I agree Darren - Working Title has made a leap light years ahead with MSFS avionics with the NXI, and made it possible to do complex navigation and serious IFR/RNAV study in MSFS. I'll be releasing a video (hopefully later this week) that focuses on all of the upgraded navigation features on the NXI.
      There are a few upgrades for the NXI that are coming out with sim update 10 - and as you mentioned, ATC sync with the NXI flight plan is among them. Kip on the Ground made a good video highlighting the other changes the NXI gets with sim update 10.
      Glad you enjoyed the content, and thanks for watching!

      After experiencing the Working Title G1000, one could easily make the argument that the MSFS title was not ready for release in August 2020. After being continually frustrated by the stock G1000, this add-on makes flying significantly more enjoyable. I am a Working Title fan for life!!

    • @AlphaHotelFlightSimulation
      @AlphaHotelFlightSimulation  Před rokem +1

      There's certainly an argument to be made there, Marcus. There were a lot things not working right, a lot of glitches, and a lot of things just missing. That being said, it was also a giant leap forward in PC flight simulation - particularly with how the world was rendered visually, so I can understand why they wanted to get it out for everyone to experience.
      Working Title has certainly done some excellent work in this upgrade, and brought it much closer to real world than any sim avionics have ever been!

      @AlphaHotelFlightSimulation  Před 11 měsíci +1

      @ex5tube, actually, the autopilot video for the original G1000 is still valid - not much has changed about the autopilot works with Working Title/NXI upgrade - it just works a lot better/smoother now. That original autopilot video is available here: czcams.com/video/nCNH-LxBjIY/video.htmlsi=6B0JRtFZHuMwKlUn

    Thanks for the informative tutorial……
    How current is the NXi in FS2020? Reason I ask is that I have seen in the OEM version the FLC button replaced with an IAS button…….which corresponds to the latest GFC700 AP controller. The IAS button has same function as FLC and in fact FLC comes up in the status bar. Has the FLC button now been replaced by IAS? It seems that all the sim G1000 hardware and software in X-plane and MSFS is still showing FLC……your thoughts?
    Cheers from Aus

    • @AlphaHotelFlightSimulation
      @AlphaHotelFlightSimulation  Před rokem

      Mike - as far as I know, working title's G1000 NXI is up to date - but I don't fly the G1000 (original or NXI) in real life, so I don't know for sure.
      I think it depends on the aircraft manufacturer as to whether you get a FLC or IAS button. Seems like aircraft with just a NXI panel install with integrate autopilot controls have a FLC button - but any aircraft with a separate autopilot control panel tends to have an IAS button.
      As you said, though - they perform the exact same function.

      Leonardo,
      I'm looking into the issue - but looks like the MSFS servers are down or causing issues for those of us with the Sim Update 10 Beta - so that's preventing me from doing any further work right now. I will continue to look into it.

    Hi. Great video BUT do you know if there is a way to DISABLE the NXi and revert to the old g1000? I ask because I'm working on my real-world instrument certificate and there is not a single actual C172 in the Seattle area with an NXi. So while it is pretty and all, it no longer let's students practice with the hardware actually installed in real planes. Thanks for your help!

    • @AlphaHotelFlightSimulation
      @AlphaHotelFlightSimulation  Před rokem

      Thank Tour Tracker. Glad you enjoyed the video, and thanks for watching!
      As far as I know, there's no way to convert back to the old G1000 as of sim update 10. It's probably still worth your while to practice with the NXI. As I understand, the only big operational difference is having visual approaches. Loading and flying flight plans, departures, arrivals, and approaches should be pretty similar between the 2 units - and the NXI is going to be a lot closer to real world procedures than the old stock unit!

    • @tourtracker810
      @tourtracker810 Před rokem +1

      Yes, I think you'll find using the NXI helpful to your training - much will carryover from that unit to the old G1000 in real life. You'll just need a little "differences training" on the old unit.

    works witrh realsim gears g1000?

    • @AlphaHotelFlightSimulation
      @AlphaHotelFlightSimulation  Před rokem

      I would think it would, since the NXI is now the default G1000 in the sim, and since RealSimGear states that their unit works with MSFS.
      Might be worth checking with RealSimGear first, if you're considering buying the unit, though.
