okay uhhh i know most people probably won't care but,
i've been revisiting a bunch of oldschool vocaloid stuff from my childhood and reflecting on just how huge of a part it was of my life as a little girl. im 21 currently and just find it crazy how vocaloid, or miku more specifically, is technically the only music related thing i never stopped listening to. there are artists and bands i was obsessed with in the past for maybe like two years who i can say i don't like anymore, but ever since i discovered miku in grade school, i still considered myself a fan throughout every point and phase of my life so far. this video and song was my very first introduction to miku and vocaloid (i think i discovered it the very year it was uploaded too), and im just now seeing that it happened to be uploaded on my ninth birthday, and i don't know why but seeing that while listening to this again made me tear up LOL
I've been visiting these old memories too. I hope I can go back to those old days and experience them all over again. I'm 22 now, it's fascinating how time can move so fast...

The Early vocaloid days were the best. Not saying that current songs are bad but the old ones just hit the right spot
A man leaves his small town with a guitar and dreams of making it big in the city. Soon he realizes that while his music is good, his voice isn't. After another show he reflects on his dream and falls into despair, only to be pulled out by a singing robot in a window display. Lovestruck, he steals her in an act of desperation but it's not long until the police are investigating the robbery. He surrenders, but is led away by the very vocaloid he had stolen. Unfortunately his foot is injured in the escape and he resigns himself to his fate, playing his guitar one last time. The vocaloid joins in, her sweet voice finally drawing the crowds he'd always wanted and giving him a small taste of the dream he had been chasing before the police find him. As he's led away, he gives the vocaloid his guitar and she keeps it with her in the display window.

After years, looking at this back feels like the message is to show that if you are a lonely composer, if you can't resort to friends that are no longer with you, if you have nothing to lose, Miku is there and you can always give it a chance, either as a listener or a composer. You will always have the option if you can afford her or her music, or if not, just don't get caught by the police (?).
The song and video are so emotional it wouldn't surprise me if these artist went through a similar situation.
