Neither did I. A testament to just how deep the Chinese team and how good their young talent is. First seed Darko Jorgic also lost to Xu Haidong, another young gun.

Lins service recieve is excellent. He was able to attack almost every serve.
exactly. tbh, some of Dima's serve throws are not high enough and look illegal to me, but LSD's service receive is just too good.
@@anamehardtofind8113 I'm quessing the "some of Dima's serve are not high enought" was a joke since he overkills all of them exept the backhand sidespin that is still legal by abit xD
If anything I felt Lins Service was his weak part. He did amazing on Dimas long serves but he "butchered" almost every short one.. I don't get why Dima keept doing halthlongs/longs since he got NOTHING out of it

Dima did his best, but Lin is too strong and almost flawless today. Dim just got dominated and no chance. Congrats to LSD! Well deserved win.
Lin made a mockery of Dima's backhand serve such that Dima had to switch to forehand serve in the 4th game.
This. I've never seen Dima's backhand serves being attacked so effortlessly and successfully. Lin killed them all like they were nothing, when I saw so many other players struggling to receive them. He also managed to attack quite a few half-long tomahawk serves, everytime with amazing quality. Does anyone know what LSD set-up is? Looks like his forehand rubber is really not sensitive to spin but well... he's probably playing with H3 National and it's all about skill
@@michaelferron3866 It's not the equipment, Lin clearly has the read on the service and very good feeling on the ball to execute a controlled forehand flick with well-thought out placement. Other players lack at least one of these elements when receiving Dima's service.
Lin's action was very smooth. I enjoy watching it.

I still feel tho that Dima seemed to be experimenting let's see how Lin holds up against other opponents like Dragon and Fan etc for now it looks quite bright for him.

@@MikePashko он и левую подачу (которая с приседом) много скидывал справа, сразу и не припомню, чтобы у Димы так успешно её принимали

2013 german open finals- dima lost to fan when he was around 16,,,, now after a decade he lost to lin shidong, who again is around 16,,,,,,,, lin shidong's style is very similar to fan,,,,,,do you guys think lin S has the potential to be a grand slam ?

I would think so. The only reason Fan is not yet a grand slam is because Ma Long exists, whose domainence and consistency out match any other TT player that have ever existed. In the next 10 years MaLong is most definitely gonna retire, and Fan zhendong in his 30s probably won't be as strong as today's MaLong, to be able to consistently shut down young world no.1s at world stages.

Can’t believe even Dima is 35. Watched him when he was LSD’s age and very talented at that time. You could tell he would be the next Timo. Great fight and the scorecard is a little deceiving

The big celebration for Dima's 500th match win likely disrupted the rhythm and concentration he held throughout the competition. WTT should have held the celebration after he finished his matches regardless of win or lose.
His game is very fast and precise and dominant. He made his opponent appear ordinary.

Ovtcharov is going to turn 35 this year. So yeah, he's not that fast and powerfull anymore.
Anyway, he's able to keep a high level of the game. But not sure that he'll be able to play that good for as long as Timo does.

Dima's serves didn't faze this young player his speed and reaction time is just too much for Dima. It looks like Ma Long's generation is fading slowly with players like this. 4-0 is just good enough to let Ma Long and Xu Xin retire.

Dima wasn't good prepared for this match and his opponent. Lin on the other hand was very well prepared, that's why he won the match.
Too much of an explanation. Probably Dima is simply not good enough compared to Lin, and the Chinese table tennis school has advanced even further.
