wow! I remember playing this game when I was like 4-years old in 1994/5! my god, how time has past by so quickly, I still remember playing this game for the first time & thought it was the most exciting thing in the world. ahh, memories, I still remember it like it was yesterday.
All games started with 8-16 bits and 16 bits is very charming compared of most 3d games of ps1 and pc era. They don age too well compared to 2d games of snes and sega genesis games
@@Macaco23284 These old sprites were works of art then, and still are now, that's why they hold up so well. Polygons on the other hand, age like spoiled milk.
The 90’s was really the Renaissance of video games. Sure games are great today but i always seem to go back to Snes and Genesis. We didn’t know how good we had it
I still fondly remember my favourite part in Raiders of the Lost Ark, where Indy was jumping across snow-covered pillars and shooting at birds. Way better than that overrated Ark scene at the end.
Really enjoyed this game. It was tough but nowhere near as difficult as the SNES Star Wars games. It's a shame they haven't made an Indy game for the PS3 or PS4. It seems like a natural fit.
+James Kennedy , they made a few pretty good Indiana Jones games for the PS2, Xbox Original, and GameCube, and, yes, they also made a few of them for the PS3 as well, specifically, the LEGO Indiana Jones games.
I first got this game back in the Christmas of '95. It was incredibly addicting. The graphics are splendid (& realistic), the music is close to that of the movie, and you get to play through all 3 films: "Raiders Of The Lost Ark", "The Temple Of Doom", & "The Last Crusade"!
This game has always been one of my favorites. It had tight controls and the music from the movies was adapted very well. I think there were a few things that could have made the experience better. - More variety in music such as using Slave Children's Crusade in the second Pankot Cvarns level. More ambient tracks would have been good too. - In Raiders: - In The Well of the Souls, almost the entire floor is covered in snakes and you have to stay above ground. - Fight the German mechanic at the plane field - A constantly scrolling level where you have to catch up with the truck where the ark is. - In Temple of Doom: - In the first two levels, Indy should have had his suit on. - A jungle level leading up to the palace may have been good. - A boss fight where you fight the guard on the conveyor belt. - A rope bridge level that accurately recreates the movie. - In Last Crusade: - A level you are young Indy. - A level escaping from the ship where you recover the crucifix. - Have an escape level in Venice and from the castle. - Have The Temple of the Sun level look like it did in the movie instead of reusing the cave from the first two levels in Raiders. Also did anyone else think for a while that in the beginning first Well of the Souls level that he said "I'm nervous" instead of "Snakes..." ?
Agreed but with a slight addition. - Fight the German mechanic at the plane field On the background the flying wing plane would be slowly turning around after Marion knocked out the pilot and made him fall on the cockpit controls. As a result one or both propellers could threaten the player and the boss as these move from left to right, or the reverse. So the player would have to fight the boss and keep aware of the background. - A constantly scrolling level where you have to catch up with the truck where the ark is. Like a driving level? Or more like a platform level with the cars and trucks serving as platforms? Hmm, and well replace the "X" on the flags in Castle Brunwald with the Swastika. This was probably done so to get around the laws regarding that in Germany but everyone knows what the symbol on the flags were suppose to be, and are we that afraid of symbols now?
I like your idea for the propellers. To clarify about my idea for a level to catch up with the truck, I was thinking the level would be constantly moving meaning you have to keep up because if you go off the screen you would loose a life. The vehicles would serve as platforms.
Easily one of my favorite childhood games, and all these years later it's still an awesome game. Not only is the gameplay and level design really solid, but the atmosphere is through the roof. My favorite level has gotta be the Temple of Doom - the music is awesomely terrifying, as is the background with that giant statue of Kali and Mola Ram and company beneath it. The characters in the background are completely static and it somehow does nothing to detract from the atmosphere. And those Mode 7 levels... I would use the passwords to play them over and over again, especially the biplane in The Last Crusade. I wasn't very good at it (of course I was a little kid) but I didn't even care because it was just SO fun and cool.
It's sad we can't get back to this era of games, when they were made with passion and dedication instead of being half-baked, early access "products" made only for the quic buck and/or to insult the fans.

It’s great that both Star Wars and Indiana Jones received the special royal treatment when it came to video game adaptations. SNES could usually do no wrong (except Wizard)
I'd like to see this game to be re-released on PS4 by Disney Interactive Studios (along with the 4th entry which is Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal 💀)
Imagine a level where you had to search entire town for that one lead lined fridge before countdown timer runs out, accompanied by nuclear threat siren.

@GranKnight87 Dolby Surround has existed in some capacity since the 80s. The format mentioned here refers to an earlier 4 speaker (left, right, center, back) format that was encoded such that it could be sent over a normal stereo signal, requiring no extra hardware on the SNES's part. Even today with the Wii, Nintendo's systems have no digital audio output and use (albeit more a more advanced version of) Dolby's stereo to surround decoding with Dolby Pro Logic II.
Short round and willie were abandoned in TOD, which I think that's funny and Elsa I guess was not part of the nazi and just a helper since she was never mention in the later levels. That's my pov of course.
What I don't get: if the devs were so against showing swastikas that the flags in the Nazi castle level all have X's on them instead, why bother put all those flags up in the first place? It wouldn't have been so noticeable then.
@@RetroMaticGamer They probably originally had the swastikas there, but got told by Nintendo to take them out. In certain regions such as in Europe, depictions of the swastika were banned (particularly Germany). It’s possible that they could have included it in the NA release, but was just lazy and kept it the same between the different regions. The swastika was removed in European versions of Wolfenstein 3D for example.

Kinda like being Indy himself.
Yes!
I agree. I beat this game several times as a kid. I bet I'd have a more difficult time if I tried playing it now.
No lies told!
I made it to the final boss of the game, the skeleton of Donovan, but was never able to beat him.
Esse jogo é um verdadeiro clássico do Super Nintendo.
