I love our new years madness. We are such big fire and ice believers for more than 1000 years. By buying fireworks in Iceland, the public supports our rescue teams who save us during land storms, sea storms, snow/landslides, floods and volcanic eruptions and everything else that Iceland has to offer and also save you tourists from all the bullshit you make here by your self, haha. But almost all rescue work is all volunteer work by ordinary citizens in Iceland. I'm a proud Icelander, we don't have an army, conscription and confusion of war. Icelanders have never been in a war as soldiers and killers. We participate in peacekeeping and people rescue with other nations but not in military conflicts.. I wish there were more old souls in other parts of the world. We are just tiny-tiny with another life on this drama stage of mother earth. love´n peace
The income from those fireworks should have brought in tens of thousands of dollars, possibly hundreds of thousands. Congratulations on Iceland having an excellent way of helping to fund their S&R. Out of curiosity, is there any mandatory safety training before a person can purchase and use those fireworks?
Everything that Icelanders shoot up is still only a fingernail on a hand, compared to your own country and all the military and war madness of others. But you are right, there is no excuse to waste natural resources.
